nah it counts as being used as fusion material if you use it to perform a procedure like this. fortress and megafleet can't contact out monsters that can't be used as fusion material, for instance.
I would guess it's for anime/lore reasons since this is an incomplete Yubel, hence 1 level lower than the original. About gameplay reasons, it makes rank 10 plays a bit more difficult (it would be broken as a lvl10), while Throne that you mentioned can recycle it if a lvl10 Yubel (or Spirit) get destroyed by adding this back to the extra deck (can't be summoned since it isn't added to the hand)
I don't know if I'm looking forward to the Fiendsmith cards hitting the format. I welcome a change to compete with Snake-Eye but it looks like it's just going to be used by Snake-Eye to make it even better.

You cant do that since the shuffle back is also treated as the material for its summon and since it's a Fusion monster it cant use another copy of itself to summon out another one
match 2 game 1. If the yubel player had summoned the nib token in atk mode the game would have been over. It had 3400 atk points and they could make a second phantom to reflect the attack 3 times over.

Wouldn't an unaffected monster be unaffected by phantom's effect to rewrite an effect? It's not like it forces the player into an action like evenly or karma cannon, right?
@@sweepinbelle it isn’t changing that card’s effect as a property of that card, it is changing what happens at the resolution of that effect. see the ruling of Grapha dragon overlord who also changes what happens to an effect it affects at resolution. basically, they are effects that don’t affect monsters in the first place. it would be different if it said “change its effects” but it says “change that effect”
@@babrad yeah the idea of a card being unaffected isn’t well established or documented enough. it’s not actually that intuitive that a card who is unaffected by other effects can’t have the activation of its effect negated because it’s not like an activated effect is per se a property of the card always. if that was true, why are cards able to resolve after they change their location in a chain? and at the same time, why is a card’s effect still resolve negated if it leaves the field after imperm/veiler resolves on it? the answer: bc it’s the rules lmao. an effect activated on the field resolves on the field, so if it was negated on the field it’ll be negated. and a card’s effect also belongs to that card. but if you flip it face down after being imperm’d… the effect still resolves? but it doesn’t happen if it leaves the field. only if it gets flipped face down. None of it makes sense lmfaoooo. god even some basic shit can trip up EXPERIENCED players. I was playing against someone who i don’t have a great win record against and they summoned a chaos angel on their turn (with darks only i believe). they used its effect on summon then I used Princess to target it and one of my cards, then chained veiler. Veiler resolved, i summoned princess and popped his chaos angel, and then he’s like “yeah but chaos angel resolves.” i was like huh? and he was like “yeah like when you remove a card that’s targeted by imperm or veiler the effect doesn’t resolve anymore.” and i’m like yeah if it’s backwards. if the card is removed before imperm or veiler resolves, then it isn’t negated, but it is in the other way. very relevant thing for mourner which is a trigger effect but it can be used on both turns at any time compared to the limitations of imperm and veiler, but the turn player’s triggers go first so mourner is usually useless on your turn unless you are specifically using it it to make it leave the field and deal damage. anyway tl;dr you’re right

You can't do that, kaleido under no circumstances can be used as material, it's a condition not an effect

Reason phanton of yubel being lvl 9 matters is because of nightmare throne. The destroy from deck tribute floats into a lvl 10
Iirc it removes itself as cost so you can't trigger throne from it.
