Make sure you buys brands that are reputable and not just popular. @Liz, after your recent bathroom accident, you may want to consider shatter proof options for your shower enclosure. In the end, create your dream home at a cost you can afford because you want to feel comfortable in your little kingdom.
I can't see where toilets that say water saver and the same toilet you have to flush two or three times to have it flushed properly ... that's what we have here in Canada and it doesn't save water it waste water .

Some people think when you budget your being mean but that is the reality for people who are not filthy rich, you have to make budgets and shop around for best price. I appreciate the reality that you show us.
Remember after recovery from Covid the lungs are tired by coughing coughing for at least five to six days so it is difficult breathing using one mask much less using two , more presuure on the lungs using two mask, keep doing deep breathing.
If u have more than one bathroom get one of those high toilet because when u guys get older it's harder to get off the seat love u guys how are the girls doing
Yes, the most expensive part of building or remodeling a home are the finishings... tile, cabinets, sinks etc. so it is always good to shop around before making final decisions, nothing is worse than buying and then later on seeing something you like more or cost less. Liz, I know you don't like "high" toilets, but take it from me, with the low ones, the older you get the more difficult they become to sit and stand up from .... this coming from a older 5' person. Have fun with the remodeling.
