I listened to your podcast of forgiving those who have pierced our souls with daggers. It helped me forgive my first husband. We had been sealed in the temple yet he violated every covenant and our children. It changed the course of my life and caused me mental health issues for years. I was finally able to forgive him and can expect to be completely healed from this nightmare. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for your testimony of the prophet and the Church. While listening to several of my favorite channels on TH-cam put on by saints I have become aware of a movement or ideology either through the guest on these shows or those leaving comments that the Church is in a state of Apostasy which includes our Prophet and the 12 apostles. This movement is based on a particular interpretation of Isaiah and is fueled by a more right wing political ideology. I would consider myself conservative my whole life and I never thought I would see this attitude amongst conservative members of the church. Now we have both sides of the political spectrum who are members of the church fighting against or at least speaking ill of the Lord’s anointed and his kingdom on earth. I too have experienced a spiritual awakening this last year that has changed the trajectory of my life. I realized that I had anger and resentment in my heart about the church’s response to several issues that I thought were not conservative enough and that attitude was eating away at my testimony and driving me away from my covenants. Through my awakening I have adopted a more childlike faith (I think we forget that Jesus himself wanted us to have), while seeking a deeper understanding of the gospel and the scriptures. All of this has strengthened my ties to his kingdom on earth and strengthened my testimony of the living prophet and his enormous responsibility to usher in the 2nd coming. Also, we need to remember the 2nd great commandment. For me it is easy to focus on my spiritual or temporal well being through study and prayer while forgetting to follow the example of the savior. My wife is a perfect example of this. She focuses less on the mysteries of God and more on relieving the temporal and spiritual needs of those who are struggling on a daily basis, many of whom are not members of the church. I honestly believe if being celestial means being Christlike this has more to do with your love and charity than how well you understand Isaiah. It’s easy to lose perspective if we are focused on one thing so fully.

5 Virgins concerned with each other and engaging in general gossip and lesser things (they're in darkness) and 5 looking steadfastly towards heaven with their torches bright and elevated, signalling that they're lighting the way of the Lords approach as well as ensuring they're noticed BY him!

I have felt, for a few years, that hard times, much like the early members of the church experienced, are coming to us. I am constantly watching and preparing for them. I know it will be hard but nothing that we can't overcome with God on our side. As Pres. Nelson has told us, it will be more.important than ever to have the Spirit with us.

We like to believe that “A Bible! A Bible! We have got a Bible, and there cannot be any more Bible.” Only applies to those outside the church. But as soon as we reject or decide we don’t want any more knowledge than we have, it’s speaking of us too. With whatever size cup we go to Him, He will fill.

@@spirtualsurvival The Foolish virgins have no oil because they were too busy murmuring all about the faults and weaknesses of current and past prophets instead of following the prophet counsel to fill up their lamps with oil and arise and be recommended by the Lord.. Instead the Foolish spend their time arguing around with the wise virgins because the foolish had no oil in their lamps.... And demanded the wise to give them the oil by their own terms and conditions and the wise say they cannot give them the oil because the wise are under covenant to get the oil under the Lord's own terms and conditions, so the Wise tell the foolish to go to the marketplace to get the oil like they had to and stop murmuring in other words pay your tithing go to Church each week, get yourself right with the Lord the oil comes by obedience to covenants.
So what was the situation with the foolish virgins who don't stop murmuring who won't fill their lamps up with oil? What happens to those who won't stop eating all the dead rats. They become past feeling and can no longer hear the voice of the Lord. like being trained to hear a dog whistle The Wise immediately heard the Lord's voice and arose out of their sins, but the foolish couldn't hear the call. So instead of arising up with the wise they continued to sleep on in their sins. While all the wise were busy trimming all their lamps and making their way to meet the bridegroom and they all went into the door and then the door was shut. Then later on all the foolish virgins finally awoke and rushed down to the marketplace to buy oil to find it was shut so they rushed down to the door to find that was shut also... So they had no oil. And they showed up at the door of the Lord with empty lamps with no oil in them.
The foolish found themselves in The same bad situation in an oil crisis like Rabbit in Alice in Wonderland, with Rabbit looking frantically down at his watch saying, Í'm Late, I'm Late, I'm late, so very very late...
Could Rabbit have once been a foolish virgin that keep on putting things off till the very last minute?
For the foolish will not go to the bishop to sort themselves out with the Lord to get on the covenant path, instead they will sit back and continue to complain and sort themselves out later after the bishop and the stake president or prophet or apostle first corrects himself. So the foolish virgins never arrive to the marketplace or the door on time because they are too busy waiting for the leaders to first correct themselves and THEN they will buy oil. So the Foolish want it on their own terms and conditions and not the Lord's. Putting the cart before the horse.
In Final Fantasy XII video game some of the enemies have have a spell called ZAP also known as DRAIN and ZAP decreases HP over by 1 point over a period of time. Then that party member knocked out once their HP reaches 0. POISON also has the same effect as DRAIN or ZAP until a REMEDY is thrown to stop its drain effect.
I believe that Isaiah had an Spiritual Awakening, an out of body experience and was lifted up into God's abode in the spirit. and learnt alot of information while he was up there with God and the angels.
Magnifying weaknesses and Fault finding and Murmuring against the church or its leaders or past leaders is the same as casting the ZAP or poison spell. Or as one General Authority put it, Getting the electric hedge clippers and just turning around and cutting back through the power line.

This was excellent! I am amazed at how the Lord is extending the saints' understanding, and pouring out revelation upon us. I sometimes receive things that I don't hear in Sunday school. Sometimes I will share these with close friends or family, but I also try to remember that as people are willing to seek their own revelation, God will send to them what they are prepared to know. President Nelson urges us to seek these things, but even he isn't proclaiming them from the pulpit. And I certainly don't have the authority to proclaim mysteries I have received to the church at large. So mostly I try to bear testimony of the principal doctrine, and the rest I write in my journal and treasure up in my heart. Joseph Smith himself said that if he told us everything he knew, we'd kill him. I see our job as to seek and prepare our hearts to receive. I absolutely loved your message today❤

Thank you for your thoughts and for being true to the calling that the Lord had for you and your wife to continue this podcast. We discussed Bednar's GenConf talk about the Wise and Foolish Virgins in EQ not too long ago. It hadn't occurred to me until I was reading the account in Matthew 25:
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. (JST says YOU know me not)
The foolish virgins were able to get oil and still make it to the home of the bridegroom but when they asked to be let in, the bridegroom did not admit them. Not having enough oil was only a small part of the problem, the bigger problem was that they did not know the Lord. If they knew the Lord, their oil reserves would have been more than enough. Seek to know the Lord God, the Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ!

I have never considered that concept of the seraph 'level'. I see non-LDS talk about things like level of vibrations as becoming a more spiritual being and I wonder if they are on the verge of an understanding about the physical changes we go through as we purify ourselves and shed the imperfections of this world. As for the oil in our 'lamps' I am reminded that there are varying levels of purity/value of oil. The more impurities the cheaper and easier to obtain. The more pure, from the more valuable crops, there's no impurities. The oil is strained with a finer cloth, it takes more time and effort to remove all dross. This is the most valuable oil. So we not only need to have adequate supplies, we need to put in the effort to obtain the highest quality. And I believe torches were coated in oil too. The better the quality the less smoke/pollutants in the homes. I love the idea of being a torch, not only to light our own way,but to shine far and wide! A torch can be seen for miles. Thank you for this vision.

Thank you for sharing your testimony so beautifully Randy. I have a question: why do we (the church) teach that this parable refers to us specifically? And if it really does only apply to us, then what does that look like for the rest of the stalwart followers of Christ, who seem to know Him better than most of us "covenant" people? This is especially at the forefront of my mind as I'm reading The Heavenly Man (thanks for the recommendation!) as well as the countless other books from faithful Christians who absolutely knew Christ. Not to mention those Christians *today* who are laying down their lives for Christ. Anyways, any thoughts around this are appreciated ❤.

    • @spirtualsurvival
      @spirtualsurvival  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

That is a great question. There are many Christians who have a deep, transforming relationship with Christ.
Without an intimate relationship with Christ we aren't TRANSFORMED. Those who are TRANSFORMED by Christ are those who have a reservoir of oil. They have the spirit of God like a fire is burning.
It's about knowing Him. I believe many Christians achieve a covenantal state of being with Christ even though they haven't received the ordinances.
JST Mathew 25:12 says "JST - Ye knew me not."
I think this new episode that comes out on Sunday will explain this. Just because we have received an ordinance doesn't mean we've connected with Christ at an intimate level.

I had this come to me while listening to this. Doctrine sounds connected to doctor. A doctor teaches (such as a professor with a doctorate). Doctrine would therefore be principles that teach us. Baptism is a doctrine because it teaches what should be happening to us spiritually in surrendering our will to God's. There are different levels that this doctrine can be applied and understood just as it is with Jesus's parables.

A Moses, and Aaron, and Joshua lead him,
And feed him on manna from heaven again.

D&C 45:56-57 tells us the characteristics of who is a wise virgin. One is that they weren’t deceived. If you do a word link (in the manner of the Jews) you can find out who is deceiving the elect.
There are also 3 groups the Lord puts church members into.
    * Harlots (those who removed their hearts from the Savior),

    * Foolish Virgins and Wise Virgins (those preparing and waiting for the second coming).

We know from the parable of the 10 virgins that only half of the virgins make it to the marriage ceremony (Christ coming to Zion)
Zech 13:8-9 tells us “two parts [groups] will be cut off and die; but the third shall be left…” who will be refined and tried.
If you hold Brigham's words with any weight he said regarding who will go to Zion that “there may be a hundred [in Utah] then for every single one that there [Zion] is now.”
This means 99% won’t make it to Zion before Christ visits the temple there. You may ask as I have, why so few and why does it say the 99% will be cut off and die.
    * The short answer is where much is given, much is required and so from what I've read in the scriptures many who think they'll be going will be surprised by their lot.

I'm thinking about your torch example, and I wasn't sure if it fit. Then you tied it to testimony, and that made more sense and is a good example and interpretation. Maybe we can say not just any testimony but a valiant testimony of Jesus Christ and his church.
Will these 144k be the wise virgins? I would think some wise virgins will end up called to the 144k. However, I hope we have more than 144k wise virgins or more than 12k of Ephraim.
The 144k and the Church of the Firstborn are things not easily understood. Some feel that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will transition to the church of the first born. However, that can't be becuase many in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints don't qualify for the Church of the firstborn becuase of celestial marriage. The Church of the Firstborn already exists and is in heaven. It is those that qualified for exaltation.
Who are the 144k those made up of 12k of each tribe and are part of the Church of the firstborn? They are the missionary force of the Church of the firstborn. They hunt out from amongst the house of Isreal those that qualify for exaltation. Those members of the Church that have all their ordances and Covenants made everlasting by the power of the Holy Spirit of promise and have their calling election made sure.

Great comment. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the gateway to the Church of the Firstborn. The 144k or Kings and Queens will bring people to the church of the Firstborn.
I agree with your comment about the torches of the wide virgins representing valiant testimonies.
It makes sense that there will be different levels among the wise virgins.

REV 7:4 -8 specifies 144,000 were servants of God, sealed in foreheads (temple blessings) 12,000 of ea tribe of Israel.
ALSO REV 14:1-4 further describes the 144,000 as Virgins, not defiled by women ( so morally clean AND not married (YET).which suggests they may be young, righteous missionary age men who are called and ordained for the final gathering of Israel just before or right after the cleansing of the earth and the end of the age of the Gentiles.

I believe that is very symbolic language, as is all of the Book of Revelation. Those who are sealed with the holy Spirit of Promise will be WISE VIRGINS. PURE, SANCTIFIED, HOLY

If you carry that logic forward it would mean the the 5 wise virgins can only be women and there are only 5 of them.

D&C 77:11 clearly states by REVELATION to Prophet Joseph Smith that the 144,000 .are “HIGH PRIESTS, ordained unto holy order of God,….out of every nation, kindred, tongue ,…..to administer the everlasting gospel…to bring as many as will come to the Church of the Firstborn.” These are MEN, not women. Women are NOT ORDAINED. WHY is this false doctrine being promulgated across many LDS channels? No where in our standard works does it say the 144,000 last days missionaries are WOMEN!

Don't be so quick to yell "false doctrine." This is a tendency many of us have. It's called "proof texting. It's taking one verse of scripture and putting an interpretation on it without searching the entire body of scripture. An understanding of what Nephi included from Isaiah helps us understand that those who gather Israel in Power and great GLORY are the Kings and Queens. In the Endowment we learn that The Kings and Queens are men and women sealed up in the New and everlasting Covenant of marriage and have the Fulness the Priesthood.
Women receive the Fulness of Priesthood as well as men. Study the works of Richard Draper on the Book of Revelation.

I think it is VERY "clear" that men alone holding the priesthood is for this Telestial world only. In the temple, we are ORDAINED to become Queens and Priestesses. Those 144,000 "high priests" have NOTHING to do with being ordained a high priest in the Church today, but everything to do with being ordained after the Holy Order of God, kings and queens, priests and priestesses. The temple teaches us that we as women have equal part in these blessings, ordinances and ordinations. The 144,000, likely symbolic number, will be joined by high priestesses who have also attained that translated state and have been called to bring souls only they can reach.

I was frustrated with this idea as well coming into people’s minds as of late🤔 frankly I don’t know what the doctrine really is however I do know women back then were not looked upon as anything of worth. So maybe those scriptures were ones that the plain and precious was removed from… especially when reading passages stated in Isaiah … so now I just don’t hold my breath either way🙂
