World Family Doctor Day 2024: Healthy Planet, Healthy People.

- On 19 May 2024, we celebrate World Family Doctor Day under the theme 'Healthy Planet, Healthy People'.
Climate change is a health issue. From rising temperatures and extreme weather events to infectious diseases and food insecurity, our health is directly linked to the health of the planet.
Family doctors have a unique capacity to understand and communicate the shifting landscape of planetary health challenges, as trusted sources of information and frontline observers of the impacts of climate change on health in their communities.
Primary care is key to cutting the healthcare sector's carbon footprint. By focusing on early disease detection and lifestyle changes, it reduces the need for resource-intensive medical treatments later. This not only improves health outcomes but also significantly lowers emissions by minimizing energy-intensive procedures.
