When people talk about players quality, all they talk about is their individual quality but do not mention the quality of opposition teams. The lesser teams these days have much better players than the lesser teams back in the day. The lesser teams these days actually try and play good football compared to the eras before. That's why it's harder to perform against the lesser team now than it was before. There were 2 good managers in the league 20 years ago, now almost all of the team more or less has much much better managers. It's not straightforward to compare eras so many things comes in play but to downright disregard modern players, I don't think it's fair.

When people talk about players quality, all they talk about is their individual quality but do not mention the quality of opposition teams. The lesser teams these days have much better players than the lesser teams back in the day. The lesser teams these days actually try and play good football compared to the eras before. That's why it's harder to perform against the lesser team now than it was before. There were 2 good managers in the league 20 years ago, now almost all of the team more or less has much much better managers. It's not straightforward to compare eras so many things comes in play but to downright disregard modern players, I don't think it's fair.
