Midorima being the only player to put in effort in winning those games decided to put faith only in himself because he figured he worked harder than anyone else. In the beginning they were so self centered and pridefull, but now they're finally trusting their teammates and working together....The separate teams now, Kaijo, Rakuzen, Seririn, Yosen, Too, and Shutoku are finally working as a team, just like in Teiko.

Notice when Midorima got the ball from Kotaro, he was in perfect position to shoot he was unguarded and they don’t have Kagami’s jumping power. He could have scored an easy three right there but he went down the court so that he could pass to Miyaji so that Miyaji could get the point he deserved. Earlier in the series Midorima was absolute absolute threes being the best point in a basketball game. Against Seirin, when Kagami dunked it was more valuable than a free because what it did for Seirin’s spirit. Midorima has learned and gave up the three so Miyaji could dunk and in turn boost Shutoku’s spirit to play at 100%.
It seems to me that Midorima's character is heavily influenced by Stoicism philosophy. He´s always calm and collected, with a deterministic view of the world, and works extremely hard because he understands that ultimately that's the only thing that is within his control.

There is a similar proverb in our country which goes by "Nasa Diyos ang awa, nasa tao ang gawa" which can be translated to "God gives mercy to those who helps themselves." That's why Midorima's so hell-bent in bringing even the most ridiculous lucky items everyday even if he is very skilled and hardworking. It's so hard to live with that ideology though, working damn hard but believing that the results do not lie with you. To some extent, I live that way but Midorima does it more intensely and I admire him for that.
