Thanks for the informative review. It's rather disappointing to see the once a 5-star airline reduced to almost like a low cost airline. I agree the cost cutting is obvious with a price that does not match the product. I'm flying on the same route with MH next month and I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to it.
Welcome. Yes, you do not get a premium product at the premium price you are paying. Even their matta fair prices this year are very high, over MYR3500. That used to be holiday period December prices. Since airasia stopped flying there (I flew them twice to auckland, one time it cost me less than MYR1000 return!), MH's prices have soared so value for money have gone down significantly for what you get. Unfortunately, if you want a direct flight from KL, they are your only option.

The spaghetti-in-a-box served for supper was a downgrade from a regular full meal (see 2:30) on the same flight I took before. Cost cutting, I guess. It is the first of two meals served, the other is breakfast (full meal, two choices).
Going to Auckland this coming October and I dont think my experience will differ much from yours. What about A380 flight this year? Did they cut cost as well? Went to UK in 2016 with MAS and the experience was superb.
Most of the long haul MH flights I've taken were packed with passengers. Yet, they are bleeding money. They replaced a recent A330 flight KUL to BKK with an A380 and that was packed too. Massive money drain somewhere...

About 11 hours. Melbourne to KL is served by either MH128 or MH148, both on A330-300. Seating is slightly different on that aircraft and there are two configurations. One has a quiet zone with larger leg-room seats forward of the main cabin.
Really disappointed with the meal services on this flight. What a huge decline. I believe if they continue serving like that, their future will be darker and darker
Yes, quite surprising for one of their popular long haul products. Should keep it premium because it's priced as a premium flight. Too much cost cutting where the passengers or customers have to pay the price.
agree with the mediocre service of MH but what can u expect from an airline which has yet to record profit since god knows when and it likely to close shop in the future..however i disagree with the bassinet issue as those pax should have known to request the same upfront, that's their fault
Hello Irishque, I didn't think it was mediocre. In fact, I mentioned in the video overall service was good. The mother who requested a bassinet seat probably tried to in advance but was told to try again onboard. That male FA didn't have to be rude to her because she was only asking at the time of boarding. She wasn't trying to take or steal anyone's seat. His colleague, the lady FA next to him was very kind and professional. Anyway, hope MH sees better days ahead.

They used to be good, however they are one of the worst airlines now. The A330-200 is a classic example of how cheap the airline is to not refit them with their current products. Service has also become crap now. it's a shame seeing this airline going down the drain. Never flying with them again. Rather spend a bit more money and fly with Singapore, Cathay or Emirates.
I haven't flown since the pandemic began and borders closed. I've flown Singapore Airlines several times and service is good but can be hit and miss too, depending on the crew. Cathay I flew twice, witnessed a disturbing event onboard the flight to HK so am not sure if I'd take them again.
Eventhough u upgrade to business class at the checkingcounterby cash, u only get Economy class food!! So it's just a cheating 2 kinds of food and beverages service in business class 😢😮

Might go London again later this year but on the a350. MH just isn't the same anymore.
Totally agree that MH vigorously cutting corners.
