Don't forget to retorque the bolts after a 500km/310miles! This is extremely important, as the bolts will lose some of their clamping force due to the aluminum still deforming. Read the manual.
The fact that gt channel AND mightycarmods are both doing mods on s2000s.. Make it much easier for my friend and i on fixin up his s2000. Thank you both! Lol
Thank you Rob and Karla for this great and helpful video! Demonstrating how much gap the collars fill on the demo subframe is priceless! Keep these awesome s2k vids coming!~
Dear Rob and Carla, I know it might be a big ask, but a soft top delete/hardtop install would be "epic!" See all your guys' vids many times~ keep up the awesome~
After you refit the subframe, be sure to get a 4 wheel alignment done to make the most out of the collars. Actually, when you do any mods to the suspension or chassis it is a good idea to at least check the alignment after you've finished. A few manufucturers like Ford and Vauxhall/Opel (a GM owned company in the UK and Germany) recommend getting at least a front end alignment done every 6 months! Making sure all the wheels are pointing in the directions they should be makes such a massive difference to how the car feels and the feedback you get through the steering!
I would love if. Took the car to an identical track (and conditions)before and after every install. interesting to see how much the vehicle I improves.
Thanks for this tutorial. I used this video to teach my S2K group how to install the Spoon rigid collar set :) What size exhaust does that S2K have by the way?
so I'm really considering of buying this for my 92-95 civic trackday build car. would you recommend this for me? I allready got PU Energy suspension master kit, SI/VTI swaybars strut towers F + R, half rollcage and a Subframe strut from Summit (lower front).
Dude. Are you sure you put the anti-seize on the bolts? Wouldn't that loosen your bolts and make them come out easier? That would be fricken dangerous. The AS should be placed on the collars themselves to prevent the collars from locking. If I'm not mistaken, the video from Spoon themselves had the AS on the collars.
If they're designed to be crushed in between the body shell and the subframe doesn't that mean you can only use them once? If you later remove the subframe with these installed wouldn't you have to replace them?
Do you need to take the wheels off while dropping the sub frame? Also, do you have to worry about the steering column/steering rack when lowering the subframe? Finally, I thought you were supposed to apply the copper grease to the faces of the collar, not the threads of the bolts?
no you dont remove the wheels...they did because they were filming if and the wheels were blocking the camera.they made it seem like dropping the subframe is a piece of cake...its not!!! steering rack is not the issue..damaging the a/c lines and rear engine connectors are the only "dangers"to dropping the subframe...they only dropped it about 1-2 inches and were very careful, however I did not like how they did not warm you about the AC and engine sensors.
It would be great if you could do a before and after or at least a review of the product... Test the part before you change it or at least give a subjective feel if it cant be measured.. I always wanted to do the subframe collars but my mechanic said it was not to do anything.. i get the tech side of it but he says it has nothing to do with holding the subframe tight enough In any case for the brakes you can measure the brakinfg difference from oem to alcon and so on with the other products.. Thanks for the videos anyway
Is there a reason why Honda designed the s2000's subframe with so much play in it? Would I feel the benefits from the rigid collar kit on the street? I don't plan to put anything grippier then summer tires on my s2000.
Le Enderman It's something all subframes have to deal with. This problem isn't just for the S2000. I own a Genesis Coupe and was recommended I get the collars. From what I've heard, you will definitely feel benefits on just normal street driving. Since I don't have them yet, I can't back that up with personal experience.
How to torque things that aren't bolting into aluminium. Step 1: Tighten until it strips. Step 2: Back it off a quarter turn. Step 3: ???? Step 4: Profit.
Don't forget to retorque the bolts after a 500km/310miles! This is extremely important, as the bolts will lose some of their clamping force due to the aluminum still deforming. Read the manual.
I feel like honda should have just installed these from the factory...it seems so basic.
Great DIY video once again. Keep them coming!
I love watching the old Best Motoring videos and watching all of the improvements Spoon developed for the S2000 chassis. Thanks for this video!
The fact that gt channel AND mightycarmods are both doing mods on s2000s.. Make it much easier for my friend and i on fixin up his s2000. Thank you both! Lol
you better beat marty when all's said and done! lol
Damien Nicholas
Haha, indeed :D Put Marty in his place xD
Must be nice having a shop like that... "All you need is simple hand tools", oh and a lift.
oh and these three awesome screw jack things as well.
Thank you Rob and Karla for this great and helpful video! Demonstrating how much gap the collars fill on the demo subframe is priceless! Keep these awesome s2k vids coming!~
Poly suspension bushings would be nice. Awesome video!!
This is hundreds of times better then the annoying might car mods. This channel is great because it gets straight to the point
MCM is a different kind of channel. MCM is not just about the car wrenching, if you haven't noticed.

Oh yeah, Supercharger Install would be cool!
this
sonofkikkoman
turbo
I would love if. Took the car to an identical track (and conditions)before and after every install. interesting to see how much the vehicle I improves.
It would be cool, but it would get really expensive really fast.
"As you can see, it was a simple install that only required 4 hand tools..."
Oh, and a lift.
and 3 extra braces
You could also use bolts to align subframe after you drop collars in..
You should add that comfort and ride are greatly enhanced by rigid collar, on my CR-Z it dit enhance feeling greatly on rough road.
Spring and retainers next please!
I thought you are suppose to coat the collars in antiseize?
No
@@IaintTrynaGoOutLikeBIGnPAC Yes. The japanese instructions say to lubricate the collar and the bolt
Very nice video guys !
I always wanted to learn how to install rigid collar on a honda. :)
Can you make a video replacing the suspension bushings?
Very interesting Rob&Karla thanks a lot 😉
These videos are great! Thank you!
When are you guys going to make a POV track driving video of that car?. It seems to be a fast machine.
Thanks for this tutorial. I used this video to teach my S2K group how to install the Spoon rigid collar set :)
What size exhaust does that S2K have by the way?
Can you make a vid on installing a new soft top?
I second this one.
Yeah, I agree. A soft top or hard top install would be cool too.
Oh god, most tedious thing I ever had to do. I wouldn't even recommend them specifically making a video of this especially on a track car.
not sure if you guys will be able to cover it but when karla gets that supercharger I would like to see a video of the install.
Is there a need to do wheel alignment after installation?
such a big impact gun for people doing this professionally.
GTChannel you never used the anti seize on the colars before installing them in the subframe... tisk-tisk ;]
A soft top install would be helpful. Thanks
Awesome stuff. Please keep it up.
may you please do one on s2000 transmission/clutch removal? thank you

Planning to do this to my TSX. Do you need an alignment after install?
Would this be possible on the floor with a few jacks and jack stands?
New ignition switch module? (Are the just taken off and plug the new one in?). Does it need to be reprogrammed? Cause my new switch didn't work
can you do a 2012 Honda Fit GE8 SpoonSports Rigid Collars installation? thanks!
You guys need a subframe adapter that fits onto a transmission jack, waaaaaaay easier than 3 screw jacks.
Can you do a video on how to replace clutch

A steering wheel removal and installation please !
how to change ur clutch n what clutch does best for track events

+CaliPatriot88
not for real because the ring of the colla is just one millimeter so it don't crush for real.

I think i love Karla
this is also a subframe alignment kit that eliminates the need for a "subframe shift", am I right?
how many hours would a shop charge to install these?
Can you order rigid collars for a Honda Fit 2015?
It would be great if you could do a before and after or at least a review of the product...

What would happen if the bolts got over tighten?

How about camshaft? On s2000
Using chrome sockets on an impact gun. Nice.
Aren't you supposed to loosen the steering rack column before drooping the subframe!
The joint closest to the steering rack.
Where are you located? City of industry is near SF?
No, it's in SoCal
very interesting thanks

lol
Rob, do you actually know JJ from Asus?
love it more more and german subtitlrs😊
how long do the Rigid Collars last?
i suppose as long as you dont remove the subframes, they'll last forever, just like any washer
How many hours did you spent for this install ?
Racecar sense-not for your avid street race bro. This vid is well done but not specific to viable application.
*Honda Tech
Install a turbo or a supercharge on the car :)
try doing it without a lift at home with basic hand tools
Hytech cams/itbs!
offset bushings!
You have no idea what offset bushings are...
www.gtmotoring.com/product_info.php?products_id=1725
Google "offset bushings" and come back.
supremewhip What am i looking for? Why do you say i dont know what they are?
Offset bushing is not what they are.
like the guy would say a girl doing mechanic is a keeper lol nicely done
Lovely 944
Кто скажет зачем это нужно было?
I have a stripped wheel stud that needs yo be replaced on my s2000 -_-
I honestly thought she said "twerk" instead of "torque" lol
Turbo
How am I supposed to do this in my garage ? Let me just run down to harbor freight and “pick up” cheap lift
