You are getting the hang of your tractors capabilities. Keep up the good work.

Great job,,, I have that same tractor and it's been great. We always bought John Deere for everything, I decided to be a rebel and buy orange. Funny how now everyone wants to run the Kubota. You will really find many uses for it.

The hard to dig out trees may be a type of aspen that grows in North America and spreads by sending out roots that produce new trees. You may need to consider killing the entire system of roots and trees in order to stop the spread. Digging them out one by one is probably futile unless you can get heavier equipment in to really dig up the whole mess at once. I'm new to your channel and am really enjoying the content. I am originally from central Iowa -- just a few miles northwest of Des Moines. I now live in central Maryland, and I love seeing that good black Iowa soil. Looking forward to future videos!

I got a brush hog that would mow off most those trees.. Anything with a 3" trunk or smaller.

You’re using your stump bucket wrong. It’s designed right, maybe a little light weight but nothing wrong with the design. Start by cutting the ground beside the trees. You don’t need to scoop the dirt out with small trees like you’re doing, just cut the dirt and roots. Then move to the front of the tree and push it up and out. Trees have very little resistance to upward pressure. They are stable against side to side pressure. If you want any more advice I’m willing to help as I do this for a living.

So dig around the tree to cut its roots then dig under the tree? This is how an excavator operator worked when we had him and his excavator come to our place to dig out tree stumps. The bucket on the excavator could be hydraulically angled to dig around the tree. This made the job easier.

You don’t even have to dig on small trees like this. Just use the bucket like a big knife and cut the millions of small roots that are holding the tree to the soil.

The cotter pin looks like a good solution for a trouble-free grapple. I'm no expert, but the forestry mulcher videos I've seen all require a "forestry grade" protection package for the operator since at times they toss fragments in all directions.

Just get them started. Then cut with Sawsall or chain saw. Just an idea. You can do this a hundred ways and no way is wrong.

It would help to have a closer look at the trees and their leafs. Here, thorny Locust spread off the roots like that. You could use a subsoiler to go around and cut the roots below ground level.

The reason you can not curl back the bucket easily is your bucket bottom plate is not even flat with the bucket mounting plate the bottom of the bucket is above the bucket hinge pin pivot geometry cutting down on your curl power.

Just have to keep an eye on those cotter pins, as they are a soft metal they will wear or shear off very quickly. All loader pins and clips are hardened too avoid that. One solution I can think of would be using roll pins instead, they are very hard and not very hard to remove if needed. Also I wonder if you sharpened the tip of that tree bucket like a razor if you could slice threw some of those tap root trees. Keep up the good work.

I might try and sharpen it. Thanks for the tips!!

can you get a backhoe attachment for your tractor? That may be the quickest way at this point to take down all these trees as you can pop the crown root and push the trees over. next to this, I would locate a dozer and clear the land! you'll loose a season of hay but at least you know that the root system is gone. doing good bud.

I mounted a backup camera on the grill guard and put the screen on the hood in front of me, it works good

Your bush/brush hog/cutter will take those trees out with one pass. Just don't get in a hurry while cutting them down with it. I usually back over small trees with the cutter raised up so it cuts high and at an angle. As it cuts, lower the cutter down to cut/bust up the stump, this allows the knives to bust the stump up making it easier to cut or push out. Make sure the tractor is running at proper RPM for the cutter and don't bog it down. Sharpen your blades!
Is it dangerous? Sure but so it using a tractor without an instructor to tell you how to do stuff.
Some of the trees are a little bigger than you probably need to cut so use your bucket on those over 3.5".
Since you never showed what the trees leaf looked like, my guess is Elm and they are tough.

Watch the TH-cam channel called Dirt Perfect. He has a video on there where he bought and uses a old mulcher on his small tractor. Maybe even watch these online farm auctions, and buy a cheap old bush hog. I know that all this costs money, but you seem to be clever at making things run again. A old mulcher or bush hog that needs a little work might be the answer. Great video as always.

Your brush hog mower will cut down 90 percent of those trees. That is what it was designed for.

I don’t understand why they would not use grease-able pins on that grapple….

A skid steer brush hog will cut down 3-4" trees easily and a back hoe attachment to dig the rest up. Of course those take money.

Your "mystery" tree looks like a Hackberry! Like Cedars, they spread easily and are a nuisance!!!
