That seems like a pretty fun freeway to drive. It's curvy and a bit hilly, in parts. The stack interchange at I-459 is really nice; glad you filmed it at ground level, too.
Thanks Bryant. Ah, let us not forget the slowpoke in the middle lane at 2:10, I swear he was doing about 40-45 MPH. I agree with on the stretch from Monty to Mobile, From Birmingham to Monty is nothing special either until around Mile 182 where it widens to 6 lanes. but before that, 60 miles of nothing but trees from where this video ends.
Nice video. They used those reflective posts in the Netherlands as well, but I think they were banned from freeways for workers' safety. They now use metal barriers.
@Freewayjim That's one reason why I like to watch videos from America, you don't get centre lane hoggers in Europe, nor passing on the outside. They only exception to this that I know is the M25 in the UK, where they pass you from all sides and all over the place.
@WorshipHammer yes, it is; but I-65 is the main north-south freeway thru the city, so I would take 20/59, then take red mountain expressway. South of the city, US 31 and 280 split, but 280 is often congested, due to Auburn being that direction. If u don't wanna do that, take I-65 to Montgomery, then I-85 towards Atlanta, and get 280 that way
@the905sDW Just music I've picked up over the years, I do like rock/pop/r&b too, musically I'm all over the place....if it "fits" the footage I go with it.
Thanks for the videos of Birmingham. It's a unique city. Also, sorry about the drivers. People in Birmingham seem to be very angry and incoherent when they drive. Driving between Gadsden and Mobile, I usually take secondary roads around Birmingham to avoid that construction mess. Everyone and their grandmother wants to live in Alabaster, apparently!
I think the alongside roads places scenics are so goods goods, so goods beautiful and so goods comfortable and so goods big and so goods wides. I think the alongside roads places all trees are so goods goods and so goods beautiful. I think the alongside roads places airs are so goods to fresh airs. I think the alongside roads places environment are so goods comfortable. I think the alongside roads places all mountains are so goods goods and so goods beautiful. I can able be to the awersomes for it. I am To glads for it. I think are so goods values the delights or wows and praises for it. I love to it. I think are most favorites for it. Thank you for sharing thank you so much that’s right all right ok no problems me too see you soon see you later good luck good job you are welcome.
@Freewayjim ur marryed lol good luck oh visit jackson, tn i know its not as big as nashville or memphis but its the biggest city in west tennessee & a tv station has got both abc & cbs all in one & plus u need to film the smaller cities and its right on I-40 just in between nashville & memphis you'll also see a sign saying "jackson next 6 exits"
I bet the left lane hogger at 3:20 was on his cell phone. I can't tell you how many of them I have passed with my cruise on and once they get off the phone they speed back up again, tailgate me and act like I'm the idiot.
You should most definitely come back now! Everything has changed so much! And at Malfunction Junction they are "redoing" it and adding 3 new bridges. I can email you the blueprints or you could go to 5920bridge.com/ and see what they are going to do! It will make everything easy especially to exit!
I-22 is "almost" finished. And i-65 is the same tight and same. Traffic headaches are growing everyday out there. 1-2 addition lanes needs to be put it really bad!! And I recommend Hwy. 280. One of Alabama's worst roads/ hwy ever!!

The music is amazing as always thank you again
Great video, Jim. BTW, I drove the section of I-65 between I-20/59 and Oxmoor Road back in 1988 when ALDOT was widening that portion.
That gantry at 1:29 is GIGANTIC. Can't remember if I saw it on previous Birmingham trips.
@Billio0986 I was going from Birmingham to Montgomery as part of a day-trip from Atlanta. The Construction north of I-65 was for the I-22 Interchange.
Thanks Jo,
I had to massage things a bit to get the timing just right where you mentioned, glad you noticed it ; )
@thunder489 Thanks, when I-22 is finished I'll probably film the eastern most 10-12 miles of it in a video, 2014 I assume?
@Papillonmuscogee I'd agree with you on that, apparently they don't teach new drivers what the left lane is for anymore.
Thanks Bryant.

@prfsnlwannabe The I-22/I-65 construction is rolling along, piers are spouting up and I agree 100% with you on Malfunction Junction.
Thanks.

Thanks, that must have been a joy to drive during construction, uggh.

Jim, nice video. I'm afraid to say what I feel bout Birmingham. So I'll leave it at that. UB
Yeah, he did that to another friend of mine who is experimenting with stop-motion photography videos.
Unfortunately you can't please everyone.
i22 looks like it will be finished by June 2016.
@the905sDW Thanks for watching, I plan on filming/making more this summer.
I have never seen posts like that anywhere else in construction zones other than Alabama.
Where were you traveling to and from in this video? What were they trying to do with that construction most of the way through Birmingham?
You should come and visit here in 2016, they made huge changes.
+AwesomeBlues I might, have not shot Birmingham with my newer camera.
Did I see you flash the driver at 5:10? lol
@hca0423 From a compilation CD.
No, but I should have at least beeped at him for that move :)
@Dragonfaire Nope, don't have one.
That road is a bitch to drive IMO (From I-20/59 to I-459) if it had half the traffic it does it would be OK but I always seem to labor through it.
how did you get this song?

I22 is still not finished
+Brandon Pennington No way man. i-22 isn't ever gonna be finished as long you shall live.
O3-09-10 was the day I was born into this world
@Papillonmuscogee i just try to tear their front ends off when they speed up so i cant get over,..they should know better!
I bet the left lane hogger at 3:20 was on his cell phone. I can't tell you how many of them I have passed with my cruise on and once they get off the phone they speed back up again, tailgate me and act like I'm the idiot.
Yeah. I-22 is far from complete. You're welcome to drive through however.

+Taj McElrath It's been a while, I'd like to get back there at some point.
