Quite interesting to see how suspension progressed during years. At older cars you can see them bouncing when they land, newer cars just stick to road like mad.
The biggest difference I see is between 2000 cars, which almost behave like modern cars, and 1998 cars, which are the first in the video to have a pronounced bounce. I wonder what changed between those years
It's probably the difference between Group A cars and World Rally cars. The former were still production based, while the latter are basically purpose built.
@@RedBullRally Im 44 and in the beginning of the video you showed the jump back in the 80's I was there as a child , next sunday i will be there (as always) with my sons 24, 14 and 12 yrl Its not a sport, its a religion!!!
Around the 90's the people was so crazy to stand near the cars. This is the difference between people from the north and those from the south: for the latter, the excitement at its peak, always so near to the event!! It was a miracle and the virtuosity of the pilots so that there were no serious accidents or very few.
Amazing. The modern WRC cars get so much more air and stay aloft for a full second longer than the cars of the 1990's. I'd love to see what the group B monsters could have done over this jump in their heyday.
Nice video editing ... Those jumping receptions were BRUTAL on the chassis ... You can tell the wheel alignment of the car changed after Colin McRae's jump. Keep those videos coming !
This is very random, but I was just playing EA WRC at this location and noticed hundreds of boulders dotted randomly on either side of the road. Most of them probably weigh several hundred, if not thousands of tons and they're everywhere. The only reason I'm bringing it up is because they look suspiciously out of place, like, where the hell did they come from? Did Spongebob ride those babies for miles?
Why you don’t leave the inside camera for the full jump? Or just pick a camera angle and stick to it, instead of always showing the manding the same way. You drink too much redbull it makes you cut too much
Yeah... That's right... Even a good control vehicle with professional drivers sometimes it just happens and it's very hard to control in those climatic conditions...... That's what those kind of races are meant for..... Sometimes one has to get loose to lose themselves to control those kind of wheels in those kind of climatic conditions.....
Instead of Fafe jump it should be called Fatal jump for cars……🤔😂 isn’t it amazing how some professional drivers can get it sooo wrong 😬 excellent video of now and then what has changed with the hill?? Cars back then not jumping as far as the cars now? Clearly just more power????
I think Professional drivers doesn't get it wrong.... It just happens.... While they drive for so long and at that kind of speed..... I think one who drives they will know its a fafe jump? or fatal jump! ....

Been there watching it live for 30 + years 😎
Hope to see you again this year Rui! The fans in Portugal are amazing!

And aerodynamics too! Older cars seem to hit front end to ground first and newer cars fly and land to all four wheels.
yeah, it is so weird to see them just land like "nothing" :D

Do they have some sort of active suspension? Stiffness is dynamically controlled maybe

Best jump, best crowd, best weather, best food
All the best to everyone
The best rally in the world!!!
What a great video! It is crazy how people used to stand so near to the jump in the 90s!
So true!

Looks much more spectacular with the modern cars.
These drivers are a different breed 🫡
Been there for some of those years! Crazy stage!
Seb ogier had mastered that jump
He is the MASTER
Those VW Polo's were legendary!
Great video!

You couldn't. There was way too many people on the road to have a good view for the camera 😂
Fafe, tem o melhor salto do mundo nos rallys
Also shows you how much faster the current cars are. They jump so much further than the cars from the 90s and 00s.
And probably suspension durability too. I'm guessing the old cars slowed down a lot more to avoid destroying everything they have.
Coming to my village in a few days... Sao Vicente da Beira 🙂🎥
God, I love those old Lancias..

I'm just wondering what speed it would take to gap that right hander right after the jump.
Doesnt seem like the drivers dont full send it

still love the 94 sabaru impreza
Nice video, but it’s bit disappointed that you haven’t added the longest one made by Adrien Fourmaux in 2021.
Yet F1 is somehow the most popular Motorsport
Crazy!
Only to those who don't know better!
Because of the huge amount of money invested in F1
F1 is very... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
