Competition is always a good thing. When the next model of steamdeck comes out it’ll have a lot of competition to beat out and that’s always better for the consumer.
i wouldn’t necessarily say this is a competitor to the steam deck. i mean this is definitely in the same realm of a portable pc but i feel like if someone is the type to want a portable pc console they’d always go steam deck over this, being an official valve product and being half the price
@@deanmoriarty6015 Not at all. The only reason I got a SD was because the AYANEO 2 was really far from release. After having the SD for a few months, I wish I’d waited for the AYANEO.

Great intuition on splitting up the videos, this was a super interesting peek at performance. It’s wild to think about how Aya has just one-upped the Deck in terms of performance (though at a cost, of course), and shows how a Windows handheld might currently still edge out my preferred Linux device due to things like Xenia compatibility right out of the box. Not to mention that this device is also pretty easy on the eyes as well.
@@EmergencyChannel true story, great point. I love my Steam Deck for that very reason (among others), and while my eyes might stray, I won’t be buying another new device any time soon. Despite it being sacrilege, I even use the left trackpad instead of d-pad on Street Fighter II. Still, it’s fun to see the competition and how it might push things forward.
Looking at the Indigogo, and I could be wrong, but these are nearing $2,000 CAD, not even counting shipping and import fees. Not even sure it's fair to compare them to something like the Deck, which is 1/4 of the price. Nothing will beat the Deck's price/performance until Valve makes a sequel. The Aya devices are totally gorgeous, but the cost just makes it impossible to justify when you can get a Deck with a good, but not elite screen for $500.
@@mocranks I can agree-even not looking at the actual pricing, the precedent is that no one seems to be able to match Valve’s ability to deliver the best price to performance ratio, and I don’t see that changing any time soon. However, as these are both technically gaming PCs, comparison is inevitable. Every review will talk about this device in relation to the Steam Deck, every prospective purchaser will do the comparison for themselves (for better and for worse). This particular market space is fairly unique in that way, as Valve just may be the only company perfectly happy to have such a luxurious loss leader, undercutting what almost anyone else can offer so handily. That doesn’t mean the devices aren’t competing, though, and while the short term may imply that Valve needn’t worry it’s pretty little head over it, I think the company is much wiser than that, and will respond to forces in the market according to making an even better product. So while it may seem unfair to put this device in the same camp as the Deck in many ways, I think it stands to benefit the Deck (and ultimately we end users) more in the long run with better products from all. And I say that as a very happy Steam Deck owner already, with no desire to buy this or any other device in the short term. However, when I am ready to buy a new device, I trust that devices like these will drive innovation in the space that I will be able to capitalize on, whether it’s a future iteration of the Steam Deck or another device entirely. And in the meantime, for those who don’t have a handheld device yet and/or prioritize power and screen over all else, items like this exist. I feel like we all win, really.
@@mocranks Considering Valve is subsidizing the consumer cost of the Deck through Steam sales doesn't make for a fair comparison. We also have to consider that the Deck is rocking older hardware with a much worse screen in a larger form factor. There are reasons the Deck costs what it does, it's simply a less premium option. The reality is that these two devices are catering to different markets altogether, the way no one is cross-shopping a Honda Civic and BMW 7-series despite both cars doing the same car thing.
Far too expensive for me but ... man, that screen, that performance. Next level. Which just leaves battery life on games that take advantage of those things. Looking forward to the full review and comparisons.
I'm so amazed you got this so quick! I've been excited to see what it's capable of. But at $1100 USD it's just too insane a price. Converted to CAD and the usual markup this device would be more like $1500-1600 and that's way too pricey when the steam deck is a quarter the price.
@@Prodbytocile 899 price is stated on site, aka BS pricing. VAT add almost 200, import/customs/broker taxes and shipping will add extra too. Price will be, is 30-50% and even more for most.
In my opinion, a 1200p display for that size is overkill. I think a a 1080p would have been enough, and the saved power would have been useful for framerate. You can still set the games at a resolution lower, but I don't personnally like to set a non-native resolution, especially when it is not a mutiple of the native resolution. I'm a little surprise to see that the performance gain was not really that significant compared to the steam deck. That a shame because I really like the form-factor of the ayaneo 2, but I don't feel to need to upgrade, especially at that price, for such a low gain.
I find it amazing that even though u review high-end handhelds that run even graphic-heavy games,u still test Horizon Chase Turbo,i feel so happy u test my favorite racing game, thx for the performance test Russ, did you like the Senna Sempre expansion?
At 33 watts, not anything below that. At 22 watts it's about an hour and a half. Don't think anyone should be using this at 33 watts all the time anyway, haha.
I’ll be waiting for these to match the Steam Deck prices before I hop on over to windows handhelds. Happy with my Deck and Odin. Covers most of my bases.
Same! I got my Odin, I game stream from my pc to it using castor while still having my pc available, play everything at high/ultra quality and don't have to worry about my battery life at all! I'm easily getting 8-10 hours of gameplay streaming my pc games, it's amazing! I don't see much use for these huge and overly expensive systems when I'll primarily be playing them in the home at that size and why not just stream it from my pc then? Ya know? It's just the battery life that really is holding me back from jumping to x86 devices, I do not want to be worried about my battery when commuting, ya know?
@@KyleRuggles I got the Deck for mobility in the house. The Odin hits the streets with me. Sure I can’t feasibly do wiiU, ps3, or Xbox, but everything else works. And for my first Android emulation experience, it was a heck of a lot less tweaks than My Anbernic device or the steam deck. So I’m more than happy to wait another year or 3 on further heft. I have other systems to handle the very little left that these two can’t do.
@@porqpai7082 Spot on! Like I get how people are, we WANT all of these devices, but do we need them? Not really. My Odin does everything for me, if I want wii-u, ps3, x-box I just stream it from my pc and when out and about I have everything else with me in a compact handheld. Honestly the Odin is enough for me for 1 or 3 years too lol. Steamdeck is awesome, I had a choice between being one of the first backers of the Odin #8** or the Steamdeck and living in Canada and our exchange rate and given what I knew what it could do since I also have a Oneplus 6 with the same processor, I knew this would be perfect for me. It was affordable and I'm glad my first backing turned out to be a complete success. My one gripe is I find it a lil.. too big, when I see the RP3 and the upcoming new RP3+ or whatever, even without the analog triggers, that form factor I like! But I play a lot of racing games and I can't do without analog triggers. Anyways, I love where handhelds are going and it will only get better! @@KyleRuggles I took the Deck to work ONCE. Entirely too big to have it out at lunch and lugging that, plus a stand, plus a battery… not portable at all. And the battery lasts practically forever.
@@porqpai7082 I get that! Yeah! I love the RG351V, reminds me of my OG classic gameboy, it's tough! And plays my favorite old school games from when I was a kid, even plays atomiswave and naomi games very well! But for anything N64 and later, the Odin fits the bill. I love the Odin's battery life, like it just keeps going and going and going, I have no battery worry with this thing.
Surprisingly low performance/high power usage for some of the stuff tested. Can't speak about the others but I was able to get a largely locked 60 for Mario kart 8 on steam deck (emudeck, yuzu 1x resolution docked mode) after disabling SMT, it was just using around the max for the deck, 15w. Unless the tests done here are using the more accurate/intensive settings.
Think this is a great pick who want the gaming powerhouse for a handheld, but with the support and far greater community on the steam deck I still think that’s the better buy for most people
I like my Steam Deck and the community is great (for the most part) but the Steam Deck screen is terrible and is my biggest complaint. From the previews I've seen of this so far, they can't say enough good things about the screen on this so I'm selling my Deck and getting this. $350 more for a way better screen, more power, and all the other upgrades is well worth it.
@@bnr32jason The device showcased in the video is nearly 4x the price of the Deck (if I'm not mistaken, which I could be). You're also looking at $50+ for shipping and then import fees, which are crazy high in my country (Canada). The Aya screen is nicer because it's not in the same category as the Deck.
@@mocranks none of that really applies to me. The one I ordered is $1000 (Early Bird discount), shipping is free, no tax, and no import fees (US). So for my purpose, it's $350 more than my 512GB Steam Deck was, and I get a MUCH better screen, more storage, more powerful APU, hall sensors, etc. If you look at the suppliers, the screen that the Ayaneo2 has was probably $2 more than the one the Steam Deck uses. Of course that's a guess, but if you look at the prices of these in bulk, there's not a whole lot of difference. Maybe people will even be able to get the model number of this screen and order it directly as an upgrade to the Deck. That would be cool.
Were you able to map any of the aya space buttons to use as the guide button in the new steam UI? On current aya space it only let's you use the Xbox game button which brings up the game bar

For those think this Chinese handheld is overpriced because they don't have a game list to sell like Valve, Valve can offset the cost of steam deck price value by selling a games that can be played more on steam deck , that's why got a gap between them in their device pricing.
Exactelly! There's no profit for valve at all especially the 64 gb model only 400$ for a device that can run AAA games on the go amd includes a high quality carrying case
I'd love to buy this, but I already own an Aya 2021, OXP, and Steam Deck. I'd have to sell all three to cover the cost of this one item. But good lord, is it ever beautiful.
regarding ps2 emulation, I use the nightly builds on my air pro and have no issues. alot of games can go to 3x reso at 12 to 15 tdp there with no problems, though I usually stay at 2x. I'd imagine neo 2 should be at least as capable as that. odd that you had issues with the nightly build
Of all the 6800u handhelds this is by far the best looking one. It’s such a gorgeous device that it makes me want to purchase one so bad. I’m very much conflicted between this and a steam deck. Even tho price is important, looks and specs are just as important.
The Steam Deck has constant support with spare parts available and costs half the price. I bet the battery in this isn't to good in gaming mode either. I pre ordered a Steam Deck and haven't being dissapointed yet. These Chinese hand helds cost to much imo and with RDNA 3 around the corner it may pay to wait and see what Valve do.
@@omkarsawant1523 imo I’d go with the aya Neo. Using steam big picture mode on this, is literally similar to having the steam deck. The main good point which the deck has over all these other handhelds, is the customer support, but my God the Aya Neo is literally like having the switch oled. It’s like the switch oled, and vita had a baby. And also way more powerful than the steam deck.
Thx for the vid, cleared up a lot of my questions. Just 1 question remaining, is it able to run Android emulators such as MuMu Player/ BlueStacks and play Android games/ apps on it?
Honestly I do think this will be pretty good, but I'm hoping the next video you release will answer some of my other questions. Namely the DPAD as that's my biggest issue with the Steam Deck. Angles (e.g. Up-Down) are hard to push on there so I'm curious how this one does (its hard to play games like Celeste or fighting games that rely on those 8-degree movements. Sure there's always using the analog stick, but I'd prefer the DPAD you know? Lol I'll say this, so far it's obvious the performance and screen quality is better than that of the Steam Deck, but overall I don't entirely see me getting this seeing as the Deck fulfills pretty much all of my problems. Only thing I'd like is to dualboot windows (any chance you could look into a Windows on SD card guide?), or something to that effect for the games that don't run on Linux (Anti-cheat games especially). I don't want to overwrite SteamOS as it's vastly superior in most performance comparisons. The Aya Neo 2/Geek does intrigue me, and if there's a lot more going for it than the Deck, I may be interested. But from the sounds of it, not really Anyway, awesome video, can't wait to see your full review!
Is there an NDA on full reviews? We know the apu is amazing and the device is bleeding edge. All that matters is BATTERY LIFE at TDP. Is it playable without having to charge it every hour? *shakes fist*
now only this this needs to be perfect is the rest mode. I'm not sure how it works on this but if the aya OS has something like the switch, where you can just pick it up from sleep mode and resume the game where you left off. That would be awesome. And of course the battery optimization when doing so.
After watching quite a few videos of yours that were all very informative I am still torn to what I should go with with my next device. I love my RG35XX, my RP3+ is ok but I am having a lot of trouble finding the time to get some games I like to work on it, namely PS2 games. I am thinking maybe what I would need is a jump to something like this or an Odin, or waiting for something else to come up. I really just want something that will play as many PS2 and gamecube games with little tinkering as possible, have a micro SD slot, and have video out, and I am willing to pay a decent amount to make that happen. And if something could also play PS3 games at some point too, even if it doesn't yet, that would be really cool too. Also, Smaller the better. RP3+ seems to be a perfect size to me and I wouldn't want something much bigger lengthwise, although widthwise I could live with. Do you have any advice there?
I don’t see a point in these overpriced Chinese handhelds when the steam deck exists. It may not be quite as powerful but you get valve’s continued support. The rate at which these things are cranked out makes me think they’re going to stop supporting obsolete models faster than you can buy them.
1. Its $750 for the 512Gb version with mamy more power & features so very close to the SD 2. Their support is amazing from experience and still support my 1.5 years old device no issues 3. Steam Deck doesn't exist except in the US & Europe while the world map is much bigger so these handhelds cater for the whole world .. thats one of the points why these exist
The biggest thing for me is support - it’s why when I buy a phone I get a popular model (from Samsung/Apple) as opposed to something from a tiny company - there’s going to be so many more accessories, mods, and such a bigger community, it makes using it way more enjoyable.
@@titos7050 for $100 more compared to the SD, what do you get? A slightly higher res screen, but no touchpads or back buttons? I think the SD wins out overall, but I get the region restriction problem. Overall I'm just glad we have so many options in PC handhelds these days, competition is good.
Do you have an outlook for a AYN Loki Max review unit? Performance-wise between these two will be no difference, but I’d love to see a comparison of build quality and companion software.
It would be nice for aya neo’s launcher to have 4 preset. Low power high battery (6 tdp), low medium power-medium high battery (15 tdp), medium high power medium low battery (22 tdp) and high power low battery (33 tdp)
Hi Russ, can you test how playable MS FlightSim20 is with good (medium or high) Terrain detail, sacrificing ray tracing and other features as necessary to maintain a playable FPS. With it plugged into the wall fully charged, can you measure the Idle Power Consumption at a few low TDP settings, 10W, 15W ?
Hi Russ. Great video again! I'm looking forward to the follow-up. Could you do a screen comparison with the Logitech G cloud in the next video? My thoughts is the AYA Neo 2 beats the steam deck on higher TDP en high fidelety gaming. But maybe the steam deck (retro & casual gaming) in combination with the Logitech G cloud (for cloud & inhome streaming) would be best of both worlds.
u talked about running botw at 40fps, but does the aya neo 2 display has a 40hz option? if so, then how easy is it to apply on a per game basis? Will u need to go back and change it on windows settings for every game?
Anyone know, if you set 15w tdp and run rivaturner to lock every game to 60 fps, lighter titles will still draw the whole 15 available or it will run at a lower wattage like 6w?
Would disabling 4 of the CPU cores free up some of that power for the GPU at lower TDPs, or alternatively give the CPU a bit of a thermal advantage given that it wouldn't need to draw quite so much power?
I'm really curious how you're getting a constant 60fps in F-Zero GX. I can't come close, even with TDP set to 22W. Have you tried a course like Casino Palace? The GPU will get to 99% utilization, even at 720P.
Any issues with Wifi download speeds? I recently got one and I am only getting download speeds up to 10mbps for the most. All my other devices I get a download speed of up to 80mbps. Any guesses on what might be the cause of this and possible methods to resolve this issue?
Apologies in advance, I am sure you have been asked this too many times, but I have not found it on my own. Out of all the retro gaming machines you have tested, which is the best? With the most complete build quality and has the most amount of working systems?
Agree 100%. Im not Russ rich so i will stick to my steam deck. Honestly not even really interested in the video sonce its so far out of my price range. Kind of like watching a review for a new fully loaded porsche. Cool but not really interested.
Welp, this has to be the best handheld as far as performance goes... but unfortunately the pricing makes it hard to compete the steam deck, let alone a gaming laptop with a 3050/3060 in it
It's a great review. Is it possible to review half resolution (540p or 600p)? Low resolution will not be noticeable at this screen size, and will greatly improve battery life.
Also, I would like to know how many hours of battery life this device lasts at 6w, 15w, 22w, 33w. And I want to know if there is a gyroscope or a vibration motor! This device is more like a handheld of my dreams than a steam deck. There are so many things I want to know!
so how do i play nintendo games on this again? like super mario odyssey or pokémon violet? I know we use the emulator. But how do we get the emulator to begin with? Some pls help. thanks!
To show frame rate in xemu, just go to debug and click video. using external tools to do frame rate won’t be accurate as because it emulates a monitor thanks to qemu.
These handhelds are becoming a super niche considering their price point. Anything over $1000 for a handheld is too much considering the existence of the steam deck
The SD is not the end-all be-all device for portal pc gaming. Compatibility is not there. It’s ridiculous for a company with a catalog of thousands of games to release a piece of hardware that can’t even play 50% their catalog. Something like the AYANEO is much closer to a portable gaming pc than the SD could ever hope to be. That’s why they cost more. It performs like an actual pc, where you can play any game from any store/launcher. It’s not a walled garden (SD verified games) within a slightly larger walled garden (Steam games). I wish I’d waited for something like this instead of getting my SD. Being able to play my entire library is worth the extra money.
it's so disgusting that those American think that US is the only country in the world and keep asking why don't get a steam deck You can buy Steam deck doesn't mean that it's worldwide available
Sure, this thing looks absolutely fantastic, but for twice the price of a Steam Deck, it’s really hard to justify. I haven’t even began to scratch the surface of all the things my Steam Deck can do. And while this thing looks a lot better and is probably a better computer all around, the community support for the Steam Deck is unrivalled in this class.
@@romanstark1511 You do realize that Valve is the only player in the field who can sell at a loss, right ? If you really care about price then the 30% commission on the store is an expensive pricing on the long run ! People need a Windows handheld that doesn't suck because Proton is highly focused on Steam, even the Glorious Eggroll's open source version, and we want to play games outside of Steam's ecosystem. It sucks to have to keep track of tweaks, versions and all kind of bullshit settings to play a game for 1h. Especially just to find out that your game can't be played or that it doesn't work passed the main menu. So far I'm happy with the Steam Deck 1. And since it is a PC level "investment", I'll only upgrade probably when the Steam Deck 3 come out. Gotta make it last at least 5 year in this economy. But yes, other alternatives are very good to raise the bar on quality/performance. (gaming too much is making me upgrade my glasses prescription)
thank you so much for the Destiny 2 testing. I was gonna pick this up but since D2 is basically the only game I play it seems the technology just might not be there to run it quite and minimal heat
He said 33 watts for 1.5 hours. You don’t need the 75 frames for Destiny. You could turn it down to the recommended tdp and probably get 3 hours out of the battery and 50-60 fps. I’d say that’s amazing to take D2 on the go
Right now software updates are far more important than hardware. SD still shows better performance in GOW for example, while has less cost. Further we can see even better results, because of wide acceptance of gamers, Valve support, and optimisation from big companies - cause it's new "switch".
i wish someone would compare the fps to the original aya neo device or even the steam deck, im just interested that this is gonna cost about 1000 bucks and the steam deck is about 500 bucks, so any chance to actually show fps in both to see if double the price is worth it

This is a very cool handheld the major downside is the battery life for me. I already own a Steamdeck and love it and this is more powerful for sure but the efficiency is just not there with this chipset. The issue is you have to run this at a higher TDP/wattage for it to have any meaningful performance advantage over the Steam deck which tanks batterylife. I'm not a fanboy by the way or a brand loyalist I will use the best product regardless of who produces it but watt for watt this does not match the Steamdeck. I think Valve realized this and that's why they decided to go with a custom chipset for the deck for better efficiency. These chipsets are basically laptop chipsets shoved into a handheld form factor which I speculate should really be running at about 30 watts to reach their full potential.
Def grabbing a 6800u handheld. Steamdeck is trash for emulation when you want to upscale 1080P-4K w/ more recent systems. Not to mention the TDP lock which turns me off big time, along w/ trash Windows support. Not too concerned w/ battery since I'll be playing it plugged in most of the time anyways on the couch or bed. Regarding better efficiency on the SD, that's simply false. You can turn off 4 cores, 2 cores or whatever you want w/ unlocked platforms using Ryzen APU's. If you want 5 hours of battery life w/ more power than the Steam Deck then that's possible as you can customize how the APU it w/ a few programs if you really want in Windows. I think it comes down to options. With Steam Deck you're stuck w/ average power, you have the option of both w/ 6800u handhelds.
@@OC.TINYYY Ok good for you glad this handheld will work for you. However this chipset is indeed less efficient the fact that you have to even disiable 4 cores to limit power draw kind of proves my point. The Steamdeck has half the amount of cpu cores the 6800 does and less GPU cu cores meaning it draws less power under the same workloads. There are a few videos on TH-cam showing this. This APU is designed to run at a higher TDP then the Steamdeck as l said above this is basically a laptop chipset shoved into a handheld form factor. The manufacturer limits/lowers the TDP out the box on these Windows handhelds because through testing that's more then likely the best wattage in regards to efficiency/batterylife. The 6800u should be running around 30watts and l'm not talking about total system draw to really stretch its legs.

Absolutely amazing, AYA just nailed it with this model , it has EVERYTHING i want in a handheld/portable computer , I already preorder two units !!!
wow, I wished I could afford one :') Hope you have fun with them, this is really an exciting time for handhelds!
Ok. We get it. Your rich. Congrats.

Same - getting all the classic systems via emulation and I can play new Sony games 😂 so no need for ps5 since they release on pc.
I was waiting for this!
It looks fantastic. The design, build quality, joysticks. Damn. They are really experts of their craft.
I'm so amazed you got this so quick! I've been excited to see what it's capable of. But at $1100 USD it's just too insane a price. Converted to CAD and the usual markup this device would be more like $1500-1600 and that's way too pricey when the steam deck is a quarter the price.
Bro it's not at that price bruh it's 899 for base
You can only really compare to the 512GB unit tho...
Well, the base price is much cheaper, and if you look at the Geek, it's even cheaper than that
@@Prodbytocile 899 price is stated on site, aka BS pricing. VAT add almost 200, import/customs/broker taxes and shipping will add extra too. Price will be, is 30-50% and even more for most.
Beautiful review brother
Ooh I'm so happy I bought the retro version. It looks great
Curious how the 3watt TDP works for retro games.
Great vid!
That is such a clean looking device. I like it.
That a shame because I really like the form-factor of the ayaneo 2, but I don't feel to need to upgrade, especially at that price, for such a low gain.
this handheld have 16:10 aspect ratio so res must be 800p or 1200p to fit in popular resolutions
Impressive, those switch games look beautiful. Great video!
Fantastic job. You are a hard worker!!!
I'm so excited to this one! First big investment I'm probably making in the handheld gaming.

It’s a good day when RGC posts!!
that screen is just amazing, wow
I’m not in the market for something so expensive just yet, but it’s interesting to see how far things have come in the past year.
Loved the cat break
The 🐐 does it again! 👍
I find it amazing that even though u review high-end handhelds that run even graphic-heavy games,u still test Horizon Chase Turbo,i feel so happy u test my favorite racing game, thx for the performance test Russ, did you like the Senna Sempre expansion?
Did you use graphics packs and enhancements for BOTW with CEMU? Because those usually boost performance significantly. Love the cat!
Cant wait to see how handhelds perform with rdna 3 apus, just to see the possibilities, even though im content with my steam deck
1 hour battery life? Did I mishear that? That's abhorrent. Thanks for the showcase!
But for the moment, the Odin base does everything I need it to do.
@@KyleRuggles I took the Deck to work ONCE. Entirely too big to have it out at lunch and lugging that, plus a stand, plus a battery… not portable at all. And I initially got an RG350M and the square just did not work for my hands. I prefer the size of the Odin for ergonomics even if I can’t go entirely in my pocket. And the battery lasts practically forever.
@@porqpai7082 I get that! Yeah!
I got 3 emulation devices, the GP2X from 2005! which still plays SNES and CPS, Genesis games, got the RG351V last year from when I saw it on RGC and then I saw Taki's video on Valhala/Odin and yeah... took it from there! lol.
Still no steam deck where I live, so I went all in on the ayaneo 2. Ordered the top version, 32gb/2tb. I'm glad to see its running games well. I was kinda hoping to see how elden ring plays after I saw on twitter you bought it

Whats the process of putting pc games on the ayaneo 2 no one talks about the process! The ayaneo 2 is pulling me more than the steam deck.
@@jayt6571 you would add games to the device like any other PC - install it via the Steam app, GOG, Microsoft Store, Epic store, etc. It’s really no different than any other Windows PC!
@@RetroGameCorps what about downloaded pc games like RePacks? Would I just transfer the folder from pc to handheld then run the install.exe from the handheld?
Which xbox 360 game is it at 16:02 ?
I’m getting this tomorrow. Time to say goodbye to my steam deck 😂

@@omkarsawant1523 imo I’d go with the aya Neo. Using steam big picture mode on this, is literally similar to having the steam deck.
Lol
I'll say this, so far it's obvious the performance and screen quality is better than that of the Steam Deck, but overall I don't entirely see me getting this seeing as the Deck fulfills pretty much all of my problems. But from the sounds of it, not really
Anyway, awesome video, can't wait to see your full review!
Make a how to set up the emulator and add the games plz

Is there an NDA on full reviews?
We know the apu is amazing and the device is bleeding edge.
All that matters is BATTERY LIFE at TDP. Is it playable without having to charge it every hour?

No NDA, I just need more time to do testing before I can make an assessment.
@@RetroGameCorps Fair enough!
now only this this needs to be perfect is the rest mode. I'm not sure how it works on this but if the aya OS has something like the switch, where you can just pick it up from sleep mode and resume the game where you left off. That would be awesome.
And of course the battery optimization when doing so.
Man I wish Mistwalker Studio was more successful in the western market. I would have loved more Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey :(
After watching quite a few videos of yours that were all very informative I am still torn to what I should go with with my next device.
I also am considering backing the air+ or going with the retro power. So confused by all these offerings though.
3 USB C PORTS DAMN, that's impressive. This is looking very interesting.
I don’t see a point in these overpriced Chinese handhelds when the steam deck exists. It may not be quite as powerful but you get valve’s continued support. The rate at which these things are cranked out makes me think they’re going to stop supporting obsolete models faster than you can buy them.
1. Its $750 for the 512Gb version with mamy more power & features so very close to the SD
2. Their support is amazing from experience and still support my 1.5 years old device no issues
Steam deck is powerful enough to run a ps3 rom though
The point is, some people prefer it. It's an alternative. A free market. It's not up to you to see the point when thousands of others do
@@titos7050 for $100 more compared to the SD, what do you get?
Great video as always but how many times does "TDP" appear in the script! 😂
A lot! I don't use a script though, this is all off the cuff. That's why I will tend to repeat certain phrases or words without noticing it :)

Anyone know, if you set 15w tdp and run rivaturner to lock every game to 60 fps, lighter titles will still draw the whole 15 available or it will run at a lower wattage like 6w?
Can't wait for mine
is the 22W tdp the power draw only for the CPU? so the whole system will draw something around 30+ W on a 50Wh battery

Yeah true i mean you can get the base Model Steam Deck for 420€ and put and 2TB SSD in for 250€ and you have an awesome Handheld for 670€ 😊
@@romanstark1511 You do realize that Valve is the only player in the field who can sell at a loss, right ?

People need a Windows handheld that doesn't suck because Proton is highly focused on Steam, even the Glorious Eggroll's open source version, and we want to play games outside of Steam's ecosystem.
It sucks to have to keep track of tweaks, versions and all kind of bullshit settings to play a game for 1h.
Especially just to find out that your game can't be played or that it doesn't work passed the main menu.
There is no point comparing to the Steam Deck price, instead ask yourself
- "can I do what I want with the Steam Deck?"
- "will this handheld provide a good experience?"
Just like in designer shops, if you have to look at the tag it ain't for ya king.
Asus is coming with a killer Windows handheld too so let's wait and compare.
Down a shot every time he say's TDP 🥃
Can you comment on which device's ergonomics you prefer? The AOKZOE or this AYANEO 2
i wish someone would compare the fps to the original aya neo device or even the steam deck, im just interested that this is gonna cost about 1000 bucks and the steam deck is about 500 bucks, so any chance to actually show fps in both to see if double the price is worth it

The Retroid Pocket 3! Or the RG353P or V or M. He did a video on all of them.
Agreed. Any of those or the Retroid Pocket 3 or 3+ will do what you want.
@@porqpai7082 Yeah Retroid just released a video showcasing their new 3+, it's impressive! Some audio crackling but for the form factor? It's nice! I have an Odin, it's great! But it's a lil.. big. I just prefer it cuz it has analog triggers and I play a lot of racing games, but if I didn't have it, I'd get that RP3 or the RP3+. It's a really good value handheld.
I feel like the geek with the 800p screen is gonna be the better match for this chip.
Geek is my plan, full laptop replacement.
Geek plus a egpu at my desk for the rare times Im actually at it.
