    Coop needs to read recent SYQQ collar reviews and change what he implied here - that they are top tier, but not recommended just because of cost. Many damaged barbells out there already because of his praise here for them... Even for those that do work properly, I saw videos on TH-cam and they damage the bar by putting little dents in wherever the ball bearings meet sleeves if you drop the bar and stuff like that (putting extra force on those concentrated areas).

    I have the Rogue Metal, Rogue Aluminum, and the Eleiko, and I like them all. I do mostly SBD lifts and never had an issue with any of them. Its nice to have a variety so you can choose based on your mood, lol. The good thing about the Eleiko is the weight. .25kg each adds just over a pound, so if you use a 20kg bar it brings that to just over 45 pounds, which makes calculating weights easier when using your 45 pound plates, and the magnets are unexpectedly useful. Rogue is still my go to brand in general for just about everything, and all three I have are all great collars for my purposes. Love the reviews. Keep 'em coming!

    Coop’s the best in the business. I’d like to see equipment websites and apps have a Coop score beside each product. If it’s got less than three Coop Stars ⭐️ move along. Hey Coop…that’s a way to scale man! Keep up the great work!

  • @mlazansky
    @mlazansky 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Coop the one thing you keep forgetting to mention that makes the Oppen collars great is they can be taken off even after you've loaded more plates on the outside of the sleeve. Every workout at least once I forget to take off my collar and load a plate. For any other collar, I have to pull the plate back off. With the Oppen, I just slip the collar off and push the weight flush. Just a nice little way to avoid a very common hassle.

    The syqq collars are actually a great option for people with severely weak hands. As a quadriplegic operating the levers can be extremely difficult but being able to simply push it on & pull it off will make it a great option.

    • @chethammer
      @chethammer 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is my own curiosity and you can ignore or answer it if you want. You're a quadriplegic and you lift weights? So not fully paralyzed?

      @@chethammer - So there is "incomplete paraplegia" and "incomplete quadriplegia" for example, but the chances are very high that the OP is making an elaborate comment to joke about quadriplegics. Bodyweight would surely be far more than enough for such cases. I also don't think they would be aware of incomplete cases, which makes the edgy comment very lazy as far as it not making sense under that context.

    • @chethammer

I don’t care for the rogue OSO style because when taking them off that lever can flick you pretty hard, it also sticks out abit which kind of annoys me. The Lockjaw pro you recommended 2nd I prefer because they are more flush and no risk of getting flicked 😂

    I have the Rogue ones in ABS and in aluminium. Both get loose after a few dozens of drops with olympic movements, so my pick would be the ones in plastic since are cheaper and weigth ~600 grams (pair), so are useful to count as a half Kg plate. If you really want unamovable collars you will need calibrated ones from weighlifting; they weigth 2.5 Kg and are really expensive, but I wouldn't use them for non olympic wl.

Slightly different shape, almost a cross between the original OSO collars (which I love) and the Rogue Aluminium collars. I grabbed the Rogue alum magnetic cuffs because magnets are extremely convenient. The only thing that I didn’t like was the lack in choice of colors. Basically, I want anything except black, with something bright like chrome , white etc being preferred. My power rack is black and I have trouble seeing a black item, like my TV remote which has a magnet attached as well, when it’s attached to the black power rack.

    Can't find any reviews on Lock-Jaw Flex Metal. Would love to see how it fares against Rogue aluminium collars in classic Coop fashion

    Any recommendations for a collar that goes with Olympic dumbbells? I often find that the collars dig into my chest or legs (setting up) when I set up for dumbbell presses.

    I have the Clout and Iron Lab collars from Amazon. Iron Lab is a few bucks more than Clout but in my opinion, are much more durable than the Clout. I think I saw a pair of the iron labs in your lineup.

    fyi the SYQQ collars are also known as Quicklee. I've got a pair and love em. Pricey though.

    I wish I'd known about the Syq collars before buying the Eleikos, definitely would have been worth the extra $40
