Love Milbury. Miss him as an analyst. God forbid someone speak their mind and not conform to the apologetic gen. The guy’s a Boston treasure as far as I’m concerned
@@ticats2009 you don't have to be a doctor to call one out for letting someone die. Millbury is THE prime example of how to ruin a franchise and move hastily in the opposite direction of a cup. How many games did he play...get that shit outta here.
That is a pretty well known story by now - as big of a deal as that is it still doesn't do justice to how much of a crook Eagleson was to most of those players.
Wish I discovered this show before the Bruins GM told us all about it. He was making fun but you guys owe Donny a thank you because so many of us had no idea about this before that infamous presser. Love Milbury!
As a blues fan living in MN wild country, let me clear up the “small market” thing. I’ll give you an extraordinary fact that is 100% specific to this state…… In winter during the NHL season there are more wild fans practicing, playing in games, coaching, watching their kids games, than are able to even watch the team consistently and right on time. Minnesota is seemingly so hockey centric that the wild are almost something most people check in with because they’re actually so busy with their own family hockey activities and schedule. Definitely NOT a small market it’s easily a top 3 fan base and even if they doubled ticket prices (average ticket price prob around $100) they’d still sell out people would not care. But just like the Vikings we won’t get recognition because we don’t win when it matters
I really enjoyed the Milbury interview, and I agree with Biz on the sentiment of 2021 & Milbury. That was a pretty great interview, and I really do look forward to reading his book.
Guys. That was awesome !! Growing up in Boston playing with some of his teammates kids was awesome. Already had been a fan but listening to him and seeing his personality made me miss him even more as an analyst.
GREAT Interview!!! Love to hear the old stories--especially any story about GRapes and Orr. However Mike, the Rangers would have beaten the B's in 1979 had they faced each other.
16:15: Which location? I think "Fine Wine & Good Spirits" is the generic name of all PA State Liquor stores. There may be 50 of them in Allegheny County.
I hope everyone boycotts the QMJHL. I grew up a huge moose heads fan, Kevin Cormier was my idol. Fighting can have more strict rules, but you can’t remove it. It’ll end more careers with no fighting then fighting ever would
The puck over glass penalty should be eliminated and they should treat it like icing. The team that shot the puck out doesn't get to change their line, but the other team does
Awesome interview with MM! One of the few episodes I have actually watched. Usually, I listen on the pod. Had to see Milbury for this one. Great stories. Hey come to L.A.!!!
100% agree on the college hockey take of where it is hosted, but hosting on short notice is nearly impossible for some locations. I know QU would be electric but the arena is on a part of the campus where some dorms are, parking is chaos for a normal game. It would be a logistical nightmare if they were hosting multiple teams there, barely any hotels nearby so any fans flying it would be staying in a car or a motel. It would be a cool idea but would be so hard to execute well.
i wonder if pink whitney could potentially hit the prime / gatorade market. having a pink lemonade electrolyte type drink or something. merch is cool, it helps the podcast and theyre nice, but being sober now, it's a bit more harder to show support. just a thought. enjoy your week guys
I respect your position but this is unrealistic from a business perspective. Booze is easy to do at a smaller scale and something like a hydration drink line requires way more volume and effort. I think a happy medium would be a low sugar or sugar free pink Whitney mixer drink, similar to the owen’s mixer fore play transfusion. Have a canned pink whitney mix. Only issue is would be it’s hard to justify a high price for essentially simple mixer ingredients (pink lemonade). You have a fair point but the potential market forces them to shove it down your throat, which is hard to blame them for.
I appreciate you have sponsorship but instead of it all being booze why not get a CBD or THC spittin chiclets strain? Yup, it would blow up. You're welcome!
Whereas I think the game passed him by as an analyst, I miss the chemistry Milbury had with Jonesy and Roenick during the intermissions and he was over criticized a lot.
The funniest Milbury Maine Mariner story was when he got angry at the organist in Sherbrook for playing Asian music everytime forward Steve Tsijiura got on the ice. :Mike Milbury, who coached the Mariners, approached the organist at one point to demand he stop with the racist and demeaning song, but nothing changed. Milbury got so mad he charged up to the organist with some players and had to be restrained by security. Reportedly, several punches were thrown. The game was delayed 15 minutes, Milbury was ejected, and would subsequently be fined $250 by the American Hockey League.
I wish Mike had told the story about when Ziggy Palffy was holding out. Mike flies out to see him in Slovakia to try present him with a contract. Ziggy refuses to sign, and Milbury comes back to the states empty-handed, disgruntled, and frustrated. He gives an interview and says proceeds to vent his frustration with one of the greatest one-liners of all time when he says, "It's too bad he lives in the city. He's depriving some small village of a pretty good idiot." To this day I howel with laughter when I think about it.
Binner was not doing that because he was playing bad he was playing fine the team just like every other game this year leave him out to dry he did it because no one else was doing it! He’s a leader on the blues team and it really wakes the team up when ur goalie has to defend him self
I was in Calgary that day he traded Luongo and drafted Dipietro instead of getting Danny Heatly.. there was not a single person at the entire draft that did not think he was an idiot.. This man crippled the Islanders for a decade...
Biz, if someone gets first in the metro they will have to play either NYI, FLA or the Pens, no dodging it. if they fall to 2nd its the rangers. So basically your saying first in the metro is gonna lose round 1.
Stat guy whit I dunno where you get the stat about Hyman being the only oiler 30 or over to pot 30 goals but….. Ryan Smyth ever heard of him. I expect a down and back next pod
One of the cooler Chiclets episodes. These stories are gems. Every one of them.

Need to see Grinnell bang out 40 push ups... I guess nose to ground isn't that far for him or Biz but still...
I nose what you’re talking about!
No apology needed Biz. Love all the wild coverage. Need an event in MN soon
I was at the Wild/Caps game. Tossed my Pink Whitney hat for the trick. Worth the sacrifice for Boldy
