I have recently started learning sanskrit to speak. I am able to understand the context of this conversation and also meaning of the song. I feel that Sanskrit is one language everyone has to learn in india so it would be easier for us if we go anywhere in india. സാക്ഷാൽ മഹാവിഷ്ണുവിന്റെ പത്നിയാണ് മഹാലക്ഷ്മി. നിലനിൽപ്പിന് ഐശ്വര്യം ആവശ്യമാണ് എന്ന തത്ത്വത്തിൽ നിന്നുമാണ് ഐശ്വര്യദേവതയായ ലക്ഷ്മിയെ സ്ഥിതികാരകനായ വിഷ്ണുവിന്റെ പത്നിയായി സങ്കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. സമ്പത്തും പണവും ലക്ഷ്മിയുടെ പ്രതീകമാണ്. കയ്യിൽ താമരപ്പൂ പിടിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതും അഭയ വരദ മുദ്രകളോടുകൂടിയതുമാണ് ലക്ഷ്മിയുടെ രൂപം. ശ്രീ എന്നും തമിഴിൽ തിരുമകൾ (திருமகள்) എന്നും വിളിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു മഹാലക്ഷ്മിയെ. ആദിനാരായണനായ മഹാവിഷ്ണുവിന്റെ അവതാരങ്ങളിലെ പത്നിയായും ആദിപരാശക്തിയായ ആദിലക്ഷ്മി പങ്കുവഹിച്ചു. ശ്രീരാമാവതാരത്തിൽ സീതയായും ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണാവതാരത്തിൽ രുക്മിണി, രാധ എന്നിങ്ങനെയും മഹാലക്ഷ്മി അവതരിച്ചതായി പുരാണങ്ങളിൽ പറയപ്പെടുന്നു.
സാക്ഷാൽ ആദിപരാശക്തി തന്നെയാണ് മഹാലക്ഷ്മിയെന്ന് ദേവീഭാഗവതം പറയുന്നു. മഹാകാളിയും മഹാസരസ്വതിയുമാണ് മറ്റ് ഭാവങ്ങൾ. മഹിഷാസുരനെ വധിക്കാൻ സിംഹാരൂഢയായി മഹാലക്ഷ്മി അവതരിച്ചതായി വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. ദശമഹാവിദ്യകളിൽ പത്താമത്തെ രൂപമായ കമലാദേവിയും മഹാലക്ഷ്മി തന്നെ. മഹാലക്ഷ്മിയുടെ എട്ടു വ്യത്യസ്ത ഭാവങ്ങൾ ആണ് അഷ്ടലക്ഷ്മിമാർ. എട്ടുതരത്തിലുള്ള ഐശ്വര്യം ആയി ഇതിനെ കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. രാജസഗുണമുള്ളവളും ക്രിയാശക്തിയുമായ ലോകമാതാവ് ആയിട്ടാണ് വേദങ്ങൾ മഹാലക്ഷ്മിയെ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്. ദേവീമാഹാത്മ്യത്തിൽ ത്രിമൂർത്തികളെയും ത്രിദേവിമാരെയും സൃഷ്ടിച്ചത് മഹാലക്ഷ്മി ആണെന്നും ഗൗരിക്കും, സരസ്വതിക്കും, കാളിക്കും, ഭുവനേശ്വരിക്കും മഹിഷാസുരമർദ്ദിനിക്കും മഹാലക്ഷ്മിയുമായി ഭേദമില്ല എന്നും പറയുന്നു.
പാലാഴിമഥനവേളയിൽ ലക്ഷ്മി അവതരിച്ചതായി മഹാഭാരതത്തിൽ പറയുന്നു[3]. ദുർഗാ പൂജയിൽ ബംഗാളിൽ, ലക്ഷ്മിയെ ദുർഗയുടെ(പാർവ്വതിയുടെ) മകളായി കരുതുന്നു. മഹാരാഷ്ട്രയിലെ മുംബൈ മഹാലക്ഷ്മി ക്ഷേത്രം, കോലാപ്പുർ മഹാലക്ഷ്മി ക്ഷേത്രം, ചെന്നൈക്കടുത്ത ശ്രീപുരം മഹാലക്ഷ്മി ക്ഷേത്രം എന്നിവ ഇന്ത്യയിലെ പ്രധാനപെട്ട മഹാലക്ഷ്മി ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങൾ ആണ്. ആന്ധ്രാപ്രദേശിലെ തിരുമല വെങ്കടേശ്വര ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലും ലക്ഷ്മിയ്ക്ക് പ്രതിഷ്ഠയുണ്ട്. തിരുപ്പതിയ്ക്കടുത്ത് തിരുച്ചാനൂരിലുള്ള പദ്മാവതി ക്ഷേത്രം മഹാലക്ഷ്മി ക്ഷേത്രമാണ് . കേരളത്തിൽ എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയിലെ ചോറ്റാനിക്കര ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ ലക്ഷ്മീനാരായണ സങ്കൽപ്പത്തിലാണ് പ്രതിഷ്ഠ. കൊല്ലൂർ മൂകാംബികാക്ഷേത്രത്തിലും മഹാലക്ഷ്മീ സങ്കല്പമുണ്ട്. പല ഭഗവതീ ക്ഷേത്രങ്ങളിലും പരാശക്തിയെ മഹാലക്ഷ്മിയായി സങ്കൽപ്പിച്ചു ആരാധിക്കാറുണ്ട്. നവരാത്രി, വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച, ദീപാവലി, തൃക്കാർത്തിക, അക്ഷയതൃതീയ, പൗർണമി എന്നിവയാണ് ലക്ഷ്മിക്ക് പ്രാധാന്യം ഉള്ള ദിവസങ്ങൾ.
