Honestly, the amount of care not only put into the cookies, but the environment they create and the collaborations with other small businesses are UNMATCHED. Mad respect to these individuals
i love when they feed alvin throughout this series-- it shows that all cooks, no matter what story they're telling or what they're making, just really love feeding and nurturing others
It's just the way they put so much love, effort and care into every single cookie and how they make sure that each person there is treated like family and that their stories are treasured. It makes me feel like home.
I’m sure he was surprised by how frikkin tiny those bites were… so embarrassing to offer someone a slither of chocolate and a quarter cookie. Shame on them
2:18 I love how he's forcefully managing a huge pot of chocolate with a standard kitchen silicone scraper, right before the audio cuts out to "it's a lot of labor for sure" 😂
@Ahad We're laughing too! We're still on the "our savings" budget so we're making do with what we can. Definitely can't wait til we get a real set of mixers. Soon!!!
Of all the chef i imagined for this ‘day in the life’ series, chocolate chip cookie chef definitely wasnt one of them Its a surprise for sure, but a welcome one indeed
This is like Humans of New York, with chefs instead. I love it! Having a pandemic culinary project myself, and my mom recovering from cancer meanwhile, I just can't put in words how much this video resonated in me. Thank you so so much, Alvin!
Much love Cari. Best of luck! Drop us a link in our DM's and we'd love to support your online culinary project! Our best wishes to your Mom on her recovery.
I love this series! I took one semester in culinary arts school, and found that I couldn't afford all the stuff necessary for the classes I needed to take. But it's fascinating watching people live out the life I would have lived, had I completed school with that major. As it is, I went to film school, and am now a filmmaker, but it's always good to see the passion people have for the craft of cuisine. And I love how genuinely surprised Alvin seems every time somebody hands him some food. "For me?" Keep up the good work. You allow me to live vicariously through the documentation of people who do for a living, what I do for my wife and myself.
I actually want to be a filmmaker one day so you're living out the life that I want to live :) I would love to support your work if you ever put out something available to the public!
Same with studying. I love the subjects in my course and very willingly prefer to study than do other stuff , but I still lose my mind when I have to slog for exams because I hate studying for them, it's not fun anymore.
I really love how he takes care of his staff. Sad to say, not a lot of boss' do this and it's nice to know that there are still good people out there. I envy the family-like environment that they created as a company. pretty amazing
I know this is Chef Dreifus' business, but what a poignant example of what it means to work and live in a spirit of generosity. That he cooks for his staff? That he cares to make cookies that resonate with people on an emotional level? Amazing, but also a great role model for any who wish to be in business for themselves. There is a story in every cookie, as there should be in anything we endeavour to create.
This series is really relaxing to watch. The food that the places make doesn't really matter to me seeing as I love in Denmark, but hearing people speak about their passion is always do awesome
Seeing the "Chocolate Chip Cookies Chef" makes me feel so happy and relieved (like a weight has just been lifted from me) bcs I make cookies and sell them online too, and I always felt like I'm not doing anything much even though I love it a lot.
This is such a wholesome episode. I love how much heart and dedication they're putting into their work and products. I'd definitely be interested in seeing more dessert / Pastry chefs 😍
Just wanna say, these "day in the life" videos makes me feel so grounded somehow. Like, the way I see how these chefs are doing what they do because they have passion for it and they do it because they want to fulfill something in their lives....makes me want to do the same thing.
I have no doubt these cookies are delicious! The way the chef carefully and delicately chooses each component in each cookie to make them unique is outstanding. The best opportunities usually come in the most unlikely way. I wish you much success!
So much love, thought, passion and art put into something so simple truly elevates it. I love the collaboration and sense of community between the different chefs/business owners too. No competition. They elevate each other.
This guy spends his whole day mixing heavy batter and dough, and ends his day by going to the gym. Wow... Those cookies look delicious...I wish I could get it
I'm in love with this channel. The authenticity and simplicity that Alvin brings and the environment that he is in and the people, the interactions are all so heartwarming. This is simply beautiful. Thank you TH-cam algorithm
This is so nice and inspiring! Love the part when one of the founders shared that he wants to make sure that consumers would feel "at home" upon consumption of their cookie.
my family is from kerala, so to see my culture being highlighted through a gorgeous story and dessert is heartwarming! love chefs that embrace the small corners of the world 🥹
Your home is huge influence for us friend. The people, the flavors, the color, the love, the passion - it's all the good things that make NYC what it is. We drew inspiration from the pirate Cofresi who invented the Pina Colada on a cold, cold February as we dreamed of a warmer place. Much love.
Me with the Kerala Cookies! I would love for @Chef Dave to try out some of the Western India flavours too, especially since we have sort of a sweet savoury cookie here
Doing this by hand is definitely a labor of love. This man not only cares about the product he makes but his staff. Truly beautiful to see. This industry can def be cut throat n heartless but there are def still good chefs out there who care
This series is so so cool. Seeing all the work, love, and attention to detail the entire team puts into their cookies is so inspiring. Thanks for sharing a day in their life!
Mmmmm...indeed! As grateful as this baker is to be creating for others, all of the folks who are a part of the it...from creation to consumption...are truly grateful as well.
One of the best series on TH-cam, anywhere. The way these videos are edited and filmed always brings about that sense of childlike wonder upon seeing something new. I can see the studio ghibli influence.
Knowing that chef Dave has worked at The French Laundry and Per Se tells me everything I need to know about how delicious his cookies are without even trying them. And now to put in my order to try them.
It's so refreshing to see somebody make cookies their main focus, not an afterthought for the kid's menu or off a mechanical assembly line. I love these videos, Alvin!!
The Kelp! cookie really reminds me of a traditional Shanghainese/Chinese cookie I love called the 苔条饼干 (tai tiao bing gan or seaweed strip? cookie? biscuit? haha), glad people are starting to discover this really unique but super delicious flavour!
I love cookies and desserts 🥰 Videos like this remind of my dream of having my own patisserie. It's inspiring❤️🥰When I was young our mom often bring us chocolate chip cookies, it was such a happy memory
That's exactly the memory we hope to pay homage to with every cookie. We recognize not everyone is American, so we tried to recreate chocolate chip cookies for every culture! Thanks for sharing Ynna.
@Chef Dave That is so admirable chef! I am so honored to receive a reply from you! Your story inspire me so much so thank you! Take care and wishing that your cookie business prosper and inspire more people 💖
“We really like to let our dough sit for several days” Alvin: *formulates 500 hour cookie video* Why did the cookie cry? Because his mother was a _wafer_ so long.
His journey reminds me of mine. Started my cookie business at home due to the pandemic too. So this video just feels so familiar. And him prefers to make the dough by hand also makes me happy cause I do that as well!!
Hi Milla! Thank you for taking the time to watch our story. We think dough by hand is of the utmost importance! It feels like you're transferring some of your love and care into the food :) What's your cookie business? Please share!
THIS IS SO WHOLESOME I LOVE IT this made my day watching and its absolutely amazing seeing people put so much love into what they like to do Thank you for making this video!! Incredibly well-made and edited perfectly!
i've always thought Jacques Torres' chocolate chip cookie is the best in the world. he might have some competition now. looks like a trip to delancy street is gonna be on the agenda next nyc visit.
Alvin's company is what every company should be. Small businesses like this is what we used to call a family business. I worked for some many years ago. There were potlucks, Friday pizza or donut days; end result, happy employees. This video makes me want to go out and buy these cookies which is exactly what I will do, besides the fact that they sound delicious. I will also spread the word to watch this video. This is exactly why we buy girl scout cookies. I was one and will always support them and I bet I'll do the same for you.
I wonder if we could ever get a behind-the-scenes into how Alvin makes the videos? What he uses and how he stitches them together to tell the stories of these incredible people
Your passion is inspirational. How refreshing in a world of fast food to see how much effort and energy it takes to craft something truly handmade . Brilliant !
Wow 😲😲😲. Every Episode of day in life of a chef is just so beautiful and special. I can't Thank you enough Alvin for doing this series. This is really beautiful.

@@jesuschristofficial6294 Yes, they want him to try it for his reaction - because as op said, they love feeding others.

Though it doesn't feel like work. That's the thought.
They explained the saying in the next sentence though "There's definitely a lot of labor though."
They meant it doesn't feel like "work"!!
Your regular should take care of your exams. Exams are only to prove that you understand the subjects.
Two things I love about this series: when the chef makes staff dinner for everyone and when Alvin smiles when eating some delicious 😭❤️
