Season 5: the one season where all hell breaks loose
Season 5 is by far the best season in the whole show.

The show is like watching a star being born and getting bigger and brighter, and then watching it collapsing on its own weight and turning into a black hole on season 5
Season 5, the season where the bad breaks
Walt poisoned Brock, not Saul, you saw the flowers in his backyard at the end of the last episode. Walt had Saul lift the ricin off of Jesse to make him think Gus poisoned him.
Although, you never actually find out in the show how Walt pulled that off. They finally did reveal it in an interview with the show creator, Vince.

Saul only had Huell pickpocket Jesse to snatch the ricin cigarette. He was involved in the plan, but didn't know exactly what Walt was going to do with Brock.
After I finished season 4 I said "how can this be topped?" After season 5 was done "they topped it!" The final season is going to be a ride. Get ready for it!
That little glimpse into the future in the intro of this episode always gets me. I remember first watching it like you and thinking "what the FUCK is happening??"

The man in the cold open Walt was doing business with is the same man that sold him the gun in season 4 to try to kill Gus.
Walter went from the improbable and likable hero on S1 to villain on S5
He was never really a hero given that he started cooking meth in the pilot, but he was a lot more likeable and easier to root for at that point.
That's the ricin cigarette, he had Huell pickpocket it off Jessie.
I like how Walt is slowly becoming Heisenberg like Heisenberg is slowly taking over.
Glad you made it to the final season of Breaking Bad, I think after you finish this show, you should watch Better Call Saul, The Sopranos, and Succession

19:40 Nah dude, that wasn't about Saul giving Brock the poison. Walt needed Jesse's cigarette hiding the ricin so that Jesse would believe Brock was poisoned with it. So Walt had Saul use Huell to pickpocket Jesse's cigarette pack and yoink the one with the ricin.

@@suzannesmith4882 I think that was already made clear though in Season 4, Jesse mentioning that he realized Walter must’ve had Saul do it, and Jesse mentioned Huell must’ve pickpocketed him.
Saul even mentioned it in this episode. It’s not really a spoiler if he watched the episodes where it was already explained

I’ve never seen a tv show / movie use flashbacks or flash forwards as effectively as breaking bad does (or Better Call Saul for that matter, so excited for you to see that)
Walt had Saul and Huell lift the ricin cigarette from Jesse while Walt used Lily of the Valley to poison Brock. Here, Saul gives the cigarette back after he realises what Walt did to Brock.

@@suzannesmith4882 how is that a spoiler? Saul admits here having Huell get the cigarette. Jesse said it was Lily of the Valley and it panned on the plant in Walt’s garden and he puts the plant in the boot of his car. ItsAPrimate even said Jesse better not find the plant. He knows.

I like how Ted thinks Skylar is a stone-cold crime lord who's going to whack his whole family if he steps wrong.

"Season 5" is longer.... but as originally aired they split it in half and most people were calling it season 5 and season 6, each consisting of 8 episodes. There's a big cliff-hanger at the mid-season finale.
Season 5 near the end contains the best hour of TV ever seen......repeat, ever seen.

Saul didn't poison Brock, he just had Huell pickpocket Jesse and steal the Ricin cigarette, part of the plot to get Jesse back on Walt's side.

Man this season is going to be on the edge of the toes feeling also I believe that Walt is dead as more and more episodes shine his ego of Heisenberg to come out more than before. It brings a scary chill done my spine thinking of it 🥶
Hank already knows some of the info on the back of the picture. Check the episode where Hank explains to his bosses why he thinks Gus is the target.

Better take note of the flashforward scenes, just like Season 2 with the plane accident, you can piece it like a puzzle and all will make sense by the end
One plot hole I never hear addressed is if Gus had guys watching Walt’s house, and they clearly went inside from what we saw in “Face Off” when Walt barely escaped, how come they didn’t notice the bomb cooking mess he had to clean up at the start of the episode? Surely they could tell what that stuff was, and would warn Gus about potential explosives.
Maybe that’s why he didn’t go back to his car at the parking garage?
Gus knew Walt and Jesse tried to blow him up in his car so he already knew they had a bomb. He just never could have predicted that Walt and Hector would ever team up

Yeah back when you were convinced ted was dead I was like "you'll see". Walt knows how valuable saul is and that's why he threatened him when saul said they were done.
I feel like a detail that gets overlooked, that I recently noticed, is that someone got to Beneke and told him to say “I tripped & I fell and that’s all I know” because it ends in the same way when Mike went to Jesse’s house to lecture Jesse on what to say to the police when he woke up to Jane’s dead body
Ted simply told them he tripped and fell at home; that it was an accident.
It's obvious that he's terrified of Skyler knowing she was willing and able to send men to his home to force him to pay the IRS. If he were to tell the hospital, and eventually the police, that he hurt himself attempting to escape from two home intruders sent by Skyler, maybe his daughters or other family are targeted next.
You're reading too far into. I don't think there's anything there. Ted simply played it off as an accident out of fear for himself and his family.
I don't think Walt knows that Ted and Skylar owed the irs money if I recall correctly

This season is just… interesting. It is 16 episodes long, but the last 8 episodes are, in my honest opinion, where the show really gets dark. All this to say, I loved it and I cannot wait to see your reaction Primate.
I remember being sad when the show was done. Walt was supposed to be the bad guy by the end of the series, that was the intention of the writers.

Really? It took this long? I think it might have been season 2 when I started to dislike him. Brian Cranston did such an amazing job with this character. To create a character you hate this much but you still catch yourself rooting for him to not caught.

Walt isn't supposed to be the hero. He's the villian. This season really brings that to the forefront.
Except Walt isn't really villain. He's more of an anti hero. There's a distinctive difference between the two

Jesse I would say is more of an anti hero than Walt, even though he's not the protagonist he's still a prominent character next to Walt.
Without Saul, Walt would have been dead within a week.

1) this season, again, taeks a couple of episodes to establish stuff, but it's gonna be important later. Cause man oh man, first part of the season has some amazing episodes, but the second part? The final run of the episodes? It's just mind-blowing. And it contains probably 5 or so top 10 episodes of the show. For me.
2) the thing about something in the opening flash forward at the beginning of this episode. There's a funny story about something, but I kinda can't say what it is. For now. Gonna share it later. You'll see how crazy the writers were for doing something haha.

I love the scene with Walt, Mike and Jesse fleeing the scene of the crime. As Walt calmly explains away Mike’s concerns, you start to feel this massive weight being lifted. For the first time since season 1, Walt and Jesse are home free, with no immediate dangers to worry about. No Gus, no cartel, and no cops in sight.
But this state of calm only serves to emphasise how much Walt has changed since those early days. Whereas season 1 Walt was willing to count his lucky stars after Krazy 8’s death, this new Walt instead feels emboldened by his narrow escape, and is evidently hungry for more.
Albuquerque better watch out, because Heisenberg’s a-knocking.

Walter is def on a power trip but I don't think it's unreasonable Walter was annoyed with Saul giving a hundreds of k to his wife's lover without even contacting him ;).
Dunno what Walter would have done to solve the IRS problem but he is good at solving problems. He might have even agreed with Sky's plan as pricy as it was.
