Government should be a continuum. I was born and raised in Rivers state. During Amaechi’s tenure, we saw life in state owned secondary and primary schools. They were up to par. When I was younger, these schools were informally left for the kids of poor people in the society because of poor management and lack of infrastructure, but thanks to that government that prioritized the educational sector, both the low and middle class were able to send their kids to state owned schools that were well equipped at the cost of little or nothing. Now in Wike’s tenure, look at those schools, to say that they are an eyesore is an understatement. Doesn’t it make you wonder how those kids of middle and low class indigenes are getting educated now? It’s cool to not be in good terms with everyone, even the government that handed over to you, but it is completely wrong to not continue a great and worthwhile investment such as the education of the young minds of your state because of a personal vendetta. Amaechi’s government set a great precedent and only maintenance would have been needed to keep those schools going. I attest to the fact that Wike has done exceedingly well with the roads in Rivers state, because going to work from Rumudara to Choba used to be pure hell until he stepped in and showed working, but imagine if he had maintained life in those schools in addition to his government’s primary accomplishments, that would have been a wonderful sight to behold.
