*HOW TO* Fix A Sticky Caravan Blind When Left Down In Storage

  • Repairing caravan blind that's been left down on wont go up after storage. This is a very annoying common problem that anyone can fix with a screwdriver. No need to pay for expensive caravan repairs.

    Thankyou !! I've got a 23 year old Autosleeper campervan and the blinds sticking has been driving me crazy...your video has given me the confidence to have a crack at them myself rather than paying someone else 👍

    That's a kind of harder way to my method....once blind had been removed ONLY release the right hand side from it's internal clips...leave tensioner side in it's holder...To apply or reduce tension just roll the blind...Much simpler and you don't need to struggle with pliers etc.

    Fair play for going to the trouble to try and do it on camera single handed..
    Will be loads of people now confident enough to have a go themselves.... Me including.. 🤙

    Relatively new to caravans but I do have an engineering background. Your video was very helpful to me. Recognise the Coachman-same blind is the same position as mine. In my case, the spring had bent and come out of the slot on the shaft. Straightened the spring and refitted in the slot-job done👍. Liked the 🐈 as well. Thanks. Pete Caerphilly

    Thank you for this video. We have a lovely elderly Eriba Campervan. She’s 30 years old and like most old ladies, some things are getting a bit slack 🤣. So I’m popping outside to her now and give her a little talc. Wish me luck and I’ll let you know how I get on

    Well done mate. Very helpful, I am sure I will struggle with bits of this but you explain it well and the camera difficulties dont stop me understanding. Infact oit makes you extra careful about explaining the steps which ois a bonus. Thanks.

    Marvellous job. Thankyou so so much. I live full time in my caravan and I bought it last Feb 2019. Didn't realise 3 of the 8 blinds were not good. They are now. Also my electrics failed after one day. That is something I'm looking into this month. My sockets work but no lighting or water pump or gas heater!! 😎

      I'm glad I could help... check your 12v side example the leisure battery im sure most of the lights & pump run off battery charged by electric... i could be wrong though .... good luck 👍

    Thanks very much, I had just had this problem with my 20 year old Romahome, I thought it was screwed, but using your vid I sorted it out. Thought of making a cardboard 2 piece shutter to put in place during the winter lay up, so that I avoid leaving the blinds down all winter, causing the roller to stick again. The cardboard shutters look fine and a bit of Mylar on the outside face makes them look tidy.
    Thanks for the help.

    Great video , liked and subscribed , spurred me into doing two of my windows today I have a 20yr old Peugeot Boxer Ravenna fitted with the identical Dometic windows ,
    I have done a sort of follow up video and have put the link it to yours as yours is so much better than mine and explains removal plus your accent is brilliant , my video is not a copy I just do tensioning a different way, I was stuck until I found you video on this thanks for posting it up

    Great video but you may find it a lot easier to not remove the spring loaded end of the blind and just twist the blind to add the tension when the spring loaded end is still in the bracket so you only need to release the one end

    • @christaylor765
      @christaylor765 ปีที่แล้ว

      I managed to hold the tensioner with long nose pliers while I removed the blind and then just gave it another couple of turns which meant you weren’t guessing from scratch,,, very good video though and very well explained ❤

    Great video buddy, just bought an elldis 2 berth hurricane, 1999 model. Love it but new to caravaning so a steep learning curve ahead, thanks to people like you taking the time making these informative videos has made things that were a mystery a few weeks ago much clearer. Thank you for great video. P.S. love the cat nosing through the window, :-) probably thinking enough fixing the caravan where is my dinner. :-)
