Mike , if George Martin is considered the 5 th. Beatle , You 'are certainly the 6 th. For you're what was always lacking with the Beatles - the thorough and accurate EXPLANATION of their wonderful instrumental inventions of guitar playing. There is not enough of gratitude that could be expressing how helpful you are for so many hungry souls.
I was ten years old in 1963 when I first heard the Beatles, and I have been a fen ever since. I'll Follow the Sun is one of my favourite songs by them, so much so, I'm having it played at my funeral. Many years from now!!😁😁🇬🇧
Mike , Mike , Mike , man is this a Home Run . One of my absolute Favorite Beatle songs of All Time . Your Lesson as always is Top Notch . Taught with Love and attention to detail as always . Thank You so Darn Much .
Dave Brewer, I totally agree. I find it interesting that at of all the Beatles songs, this one is what I consider --- the least taught. I don't know why, but very few teachers teach this song. It's remarkable that Paul wrote this song at 16 years of age.
Mike's enthusiasm for the Beatles makes these lessons fun. Showing each part separately makes it easier to understand and gives some insight into each Beatles musical character and contribution.
Thanks for the great lesson , I am 73 and have been a Beatles fan for 60 years and I finally got a guitar . I think it's about time to learn a couple of songs.
I first heard this aged around 12y? I have always loved this song and always wondered how George played his part in it. I am now coming up on 68y and finally, I now know how George did it. As always Chord notes :) Thanks, Mike, for a great tutorial.....Pete
Nicely done Mike. I've played the song since it came out in 1964 and have loved it's intracacies as you have notated accurately showing the truly musical and amazing inner workings of the Beatle's songs.
Another great job! This has to be in my top five Beatles songs, in large part because of the exquisite blend of Paul’s high melody and John’s lower harmony. So many great songs had the beautiful blending of these two men’s voices. Then they spoil us on other classics by rocking out and adding George’s three-part harmony. You emphasize the guitar parts, which amazes us all, but I adore the vocalizations.
Mike, without a doubt, you are my guitar hero. Thanks for these wonderful videos. I have really enjoyed learning songs from my favorite group of all my life. You are the best. MAESTRO!!.
I really appreciate the way you bring detail into the songs. If anyone is watching I think 50 years from now, people will be talking about the" Pachelli" interpretation. Great stuff. THANK YOU
Wonderful Mike. Another joyous and detailed lesson. It's a real eye opener to see and hear exactly how they played it. This song beautifully shows John's driving rhythm and his style of playing. It's fantastic. Thank you once again.
So nice to see this sort of video still being made. Informative, not jumping from cut to cut, not playing to the lowest common attention span denominator. Thank you for taking the time to sit with this song and really feel it!
Great to learning more about how John used what I call ”leaknotes” to glue the rythm together. To make i more ”rockish”. Thanks a lot. Best Regards from Sweden 🌹🇸🇪🌹🇸🇪🌹🇸🇪
+Urban Ekelund The Beatles did their first tour in Sweden and we were blessed with 2 tours. For some strange reason, they did a concert in Karlskoga, the sleepy small town in Western Sweden. (I assume you're Swedish as well) The audience was nowhere to be seen? That's one concert I would have loved to see, with no screaming girls so you could hear them perform.
This song has the best singular "note" I've ever heard in music. It's in that C7 chord, the one finger picked by George, at the tail where he hammers on with his pinky (at 17:56 in this video.) A single note, but as a door opening up and pulling the listener into the bridge vocals. For me, it's an inspired and magical moment in songwriting. But for the Beatles, perhaps just another day at work, for the 2nd time around, it's almost hidden. Credit to George, I guess, but Paul was well known for telling the others how to play his songs. There must be a hundred other songs using these same chords. But leave it to Paul once again for layering a perfect melody over them.
Such a gem. I have always struggled to hear all its facets. You pull it apart and put it back together, so that I understand it for the first time. I see how each one of them made an essential contribution, hearing the harmonization slightly differently, so that when was all assembled, it was a kaleidoscope. Paul had the original idea. John made it cool. George made it sublime.
Mike your excellant at what you do , your detail on these Beatle lessons is second to none . Been a Beatle fan for 58 years, and self taught on the guitar , and have learned so much from you .Keep on rockin Mike , cause your certainly appreciated, your one talented dude for sure ...
I dont know how you do it Mike but you are a wealth of Beatles information which adds to everything else you present to us. I used to eat drink and breath The Beatles in the 60s but never obtained the knowledge that you have acquired over the years. Thanks so much Mike for never ceasing to amaze me with every video you put out here, rock on brother...
Well I’ve always played F fooled by Fm then C all these years….how wrong was I. Never too old to learn! Thanks again for this series Mike, please keep ‘em coming
No doubt The Beatles are geniuses and so are you, Mike. Keep up the amazing job, tasteful and enlightening. Thanks so much. Greetings from Barcelona, Catalonia.
PHENOMENAL LESSON! I looked up the chords and not a single source shows that Fmaj7, and they all show G7 instead of 4 finger G; you nailed! This is the only place with an authentic use of the chords as in the recording; Thanks Mike; going to get working on learning this one today!
Finally there is available the first 100% correct lesson of this fabulous song by the professor od Beatles´ music Master Mike. ...THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH MIKE!!!!
Such a lot of work and effort in this Mike. thanks so much. I first heard this song in the senior boys room at school in mid sixties on a mono Dansette and a completely wrecked vinyl LP but still the magic of the song jumped out. Now I know who played what. Excellent thanks.
Mike, I will watch every commercial from now on. You can count on that! And I will urge others to do the same thing. Geez! You definitely deserve more than what petty amount (.004 cents) is afforded you... just unbelievable these people. Best of luck, Mike!
Thank you so much for this and your other Beatles tutorials. Your positive attitude adds a lot to make me look at and listen to these videos. I like that you’ve mirrored the bass footage😊
Jeez, I really love this one. Thanks so much for such a fabulous tutorial. All the trivia you give us along with each tutorial is so interesting and your recreations at the end are spot on. I remember from somewhere that this song was the favorite song of George Martin of all the tracks on this album.
As usual, that was terrific Mike! One of my favorite Beatles songs. Every time I watch one of your "Beatle Tutorials", I am amazed at how they were able to come up with these amazing arrangements. It just continues to boggle the mind! Well at least for me. Thanks & hope that you are doing well in France & staying safe! 👍👍😉😉
As always, an outstanding and accurate analysis !! Thanks ! I'd like to add my recent epiphany..while introducing the Beatle discography to my 7 yr old grand-daughter (and guitar pupil), I noticed that in the recording mix of so many Beatle tunes, (unlike many other recordings of the era), 2 guitar tracks were given near equal weight in the mix instead of a lead guitar = up and rhythm = down, thus allowing the beautiful counterparts that you often describe.
Nice to see and hear the subtle touches on what for me is perhaps the clearest example of Buddy Holly's influence on McCartney and Lennon's early writing.
I love the work you do. I think I might have said that before. I just listened to the 2009 remastered version and George is all right, Vocal center and everything else all left. The bass is barely audible. Now if you could just do a great arrangement for a solo guitar with a bad singer I could take my show...to the sidewalks of town. Haha. Thanks for all you do.
Another great song lesson with some back history, I really enjoy each video, well done mike thankyou. Waiting patiently for you to do a lesson on you’ve got to hide you’re love away. My favourite Beatles song. 👍
Great breakdown of a classic Paul tune, Mike! Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I've always thought the ascending melody of the verse kind of symbolizes sunrise, while the descending harmony of the bridge is like a sunset. Add in Ringo's steady tapping pace, and the song is "following the sun" both musically and lyrically.
Hello, I hope all is well.. I just want to say, I really enjoy your videos. I’m a black guy who absolutely loves the Fab Four (the BEATLES) I was 10 years old when they first appeared on the Ed Sullivan show. And of course they were AMAZING. I’ve been a HUGE fan ever since. Stay safe my friend..
Thanks Mike. Lucky you living there. Would have loved teaming up with you to play some Beatles. Thanks again for all of your work. Just love it. Keep it up. Al
Wonderful version of one of my favourite Beatle songs. Hey! You're a one man tribute band. I didn't realise that Ringo was playing the thighs on this song. I seem to recall Buddy Holly's drummer Jerry Allison did the same on "Everyday". The songs have a similar feel to my untrained ear, but then Paul loved Buddy Holly. Thank you for unlocking so much of the magic in these songs.
I always enjoy the song information at the beginning of your videos, I already know how to play this song so I am really only watching it now just to get the intro ha
Lennon had a helluva right hand! Again some sloppiness in his playing adds to the feel.George's finger picking is what I always loved in this song it really colors it beautifully and makes the chord sequence way more attractive to the ear. I wish they would have given him more time on the solo.Maybe a little CHARLIE Christian style would have been ammazing...Thanks.
I love your videos man! So good. My dream growing up was to hopefully meet the next John and Paul and be their drummer. Never happened. But I still have the Beatles to play along with ❤
George - thanks but I'm not playing lefty - just horizontally flip the video in editing. I feel it's sacrilegious to see a Beatles song played on bass right handed.
Mike, This is SO good. Also when I work this session with a student he observed you called the em/B but are playing an F with a C bass but just call it F. I explained theoretically it is a F/C :) Interestingly Paul would use the C to Fmaj7 prog later for the acoustic strum bridge of Band on The Run. Thanks!
Dig that brother !! :)
This is another brilliant Beatles song, superbly analysed by Mike. To understand four instruments and how they interact is fabulous!!!
Terrific lesson from the masters of R&B. You’re able to show just how brilliant this band was.

You have an amazing ear Mike to hear all those individual elements of their guitar playing. And, George's guitar solo is just bliss in its simplicity.
Mike , Mike , Mike , man is this a Home Run . One of my absolute Favorite Beatle songs of All Time . Your Lesson as always is Top Notch . Taught with Love and attention to detail as always . Thank You so Darn Much .

I so agree

You can do it!
Geezers rock!!
I hope you’re still playing!

Excellent. George's parts fit so nicely into the song--restrained, yet elegant.
I just love your videos showing how they did their magic. So informative and entertaining. Thank you for what you do Mike.
Unbelievable! I have never seen anything so amazing, the way he figures out/plays everything!
Fast becoming the master on teaching people Beatles songs...I can't think of anyone on TH-cam as good as you mike thankyou 🙏
Thanx Mike we need a superior guitar player to keep these tunes fresh. After 50 yrs still the stuff guitar players are made of.❤😊
Nicely done Mike. I've played the song since it came out in 1964 and have loved it's intracacies as you have notated accurately showing the truly musical and amazing inner workings of the Beatle's songs.
Mike… thanks so much for letting me sit in the studio with you and learn the RIGHT way to play the songs I’ve been playing since ‘64!
Keith - You're welcome. And thank you for bringing the beer!
Listened to this all my life, and now I can hear it. Thank you.
Another great job! This has to be in my top five Beatles songs, in large part because of the exquisite blend of Paul’s high melody and John’s lower harmony. Urban Ekelund - "leaknotes." I LOVE that. GREAT way to describe them!!
Just F'n Awesome !! Running out of ways to describe how great these lessons really are

I’m 70, been trying this since I was a teen but never gotten this one right. Thanks, Mike
Nice guitar. Beautiful song. Another divine inspiration from our beloved Beatles.
Many thanks!
No doubt The Beatles are geniuses and so are you, Mike.
Keep up the amazing job, tasteful and enlightening. Thanks so much.

Such simple songs, but played beatifully as always by J,G,P & R. Great breakdown of this wonderful tune. Thanks Mike. 👍
Thank you Mike, what a gift for us struggling guitarists and students of The Beatles…🎸
Thanks for keeping the Beatles alive
These lessons are magical, Mike.
I'd have killed for something like when I first started playing 30 years ago
Much love to you and yours.
You make songs from my childhood more accessible.
Thank you sir
Earl - Thanks! Very kind of you to say
I love the anecdotes and the easy to understand lessons..thanks Mike

Thanks, will do!
Thank you so much for this and your other Beatles tutorials. Your positive attitude adds a lot to make me look at and listen to these videos.
I like that you’ve mirrored the bass footage😊
Great work Mike, i really enjoy watching these tutorials but also the value of the stories you've got to tell about how the song began etc.
Glad you like them!
Best Beatles' lessons on youtube. Love those back stories!
Great Instruction Mike
This might be their sweetest song.
Excellent class..informative, interesting, well thought out, fun, practical, warm, personal,.real honest to goodness insights. Thank you.

I'm loving these videos man, the enthusiasm is contagious ☀️
Mike that was absolutely beautiful thank You for that!!!! You’re awesome!!!!!!

Thanks Mike. Excellent lesson.
Glad you liked it!
Great Job on this old classic best I've seen so far
Pretty interesting background story. As somewhat of a beginner still, learning John’s part will be really useful for me. Thanks!

Thanks Keith!
Just saw the ending....absolutely incredibly beautiful....wooo hooo .... brilliant into new heavenly dimensions of reality... delicious groovy.
Great breakdown on this one Mike, very interesting that the song is so simple......but not really. Enjoyed it!

Thanks Mike…Great story line…Great song!!!
jdog- Yeah - lovely song it is!
Such a beautiful song ❤
This is such a good video Mike Pachelli. The history of the song is interesting and the transcription is dead on. You play very similar gear to boot.
One more good surprise Mike, thanks a lot for your so interesting "background history" (?) And of course the artistic work
Phil
Mike is back with another banger!!
Looking forward to this one, thanks mike!
So Nice Class for a Beatles’ Classic! Brilliant!!💪💪👏👏

Just how to add value to our enjoyment of a beautiful song. Thank you Mike. (I still don't understand just how they produced what they did..)
THis is Great Mike Thanks Love the way you can play Bass left handed Thats a skill in its own...
That's a reversed image. He's brilliant, but not THAT brilliant!
another great break down. thank you Mike
Fantástico como sacas y enseñas las canciones de The Beatles … gracias
Hi Mike! As always, excellent lesson! Thank U!

Some sloppines but mostly just unique. J.L. was a brilliant guitar player in general and just about an unmatchable rhythm guitar player. 👍🙏
Please do Dig A Pony- I’m obsessed since I started paying attention to George’s guitar
I love your videos man! So good. My dream growing up was to hopefully meet the next John and Paul and be their drummer. Never happened. But I still have the Beatles to play along with ❤
Excellent job as always in breaking down the parts. You always amaze me playing that left handed bass.
George - thanks but I'm not playing lefty - just horizontally flip the video in editing. I feel it's sacrilegious to see a Beatles song played on bass right handed.
Beatles For Sale was issued in England on December 4th 1964.
Wow Mike, fantastic as always. By the way, 'Beatles for Sale' was at the end of 64.
Mike, This is SO good. Also when I work this session with a student he observed you called the em/B but are playing an F with a C bass but just call it F.
