- We tackle mounting a winch tray on Ollie’s V8 Land Rover Discovery 1, as well as test fitting a Novawinch and Runva winch on the prototype tray I’ve been working on. Plus Ollie gets a crack at learning to mig weld!

the brake issue with the winch can be fixed by driving the brake out of the drum, from the gearbox end with a large punch, the mechanism can then be lubed up and the drum honed with a wire brush on a drill, reassemble and you are good to go.
Hi, great work! For the stuck winch give electolysis a try. Submerge the drum in a solution of baking soda and water, connect a battery charger, and let it sit overnight. By the next day, the rust will have sloughed off. It gets messy but I've had succes with it on a Warn

Awesome job! I like the slot idea makes it easy to line up. My only question is if you plan on removing the grill how do you plan on holding the end of the “hockey sticks” up that are under the headlights?
Thanks! The grille will need to be trimmed but it’s designed to still run most of the grille, so no need to worry about the trim under the headlight having nothing to tie into!
Good design, only thing to factor in is landrover are all different as "hand built" and others are miss used so it's good you can preassemble on the vehicle and tack up before final weld. You have obviously put some thought in to the design well done 👏

I like the design, would you consider selling plans to save shipping costs from NZ? Most people would have a local work shop that could cut them out from a DXF drawing.
Was just about to type exactly that! I'm interested for my RRC but shipping to Aus would be a bit much.
Definitely something I’ll look at. I’ll do an update in a video soon but got a couple cool ideas to make it affordable internationally!

Yes like the design, did very similar idea for tow hooks which you could add on the sides ? what about a bumper though...
Thanks! Yea that’s definitely a possibility, the tray already has holes as a provision for tow hook mounts but could look at making some plates to mount hooks only

Hi mate, I have been watching your videos and am astounded at what your v8 landy can do. I just have 1 question, how do you manage to keep your charge coil dry in all those river runs, I have recently bought a v8i and when it rains. The bloody thing chokes. Cheers in advance
