- What's the difference between further and farther? How do you know when to use "further" or farther" in your sentence? It's actually very easy, and that's what you'll learn in this video!
Most people, including native English speakers, are confused by "further" and "farther" and they're not sure which one to use. Many even think that they're interchangeable and it doesn't matter which one you use.
There's an easy trick to use to remember if you need "further" or "farther" in your sentence.
Use "farther" for physical distance and use "further" for metaphorical/figurative distance. If you're ever in doubt and you're not sure which one to use, use "further".

But Almost all of us Japanese can't distinguish them to pronounce or listen correctly.
Both sound just same for us if not spoken slowly like you in this video.

dig in(to) (something)
1. Literally, to dig a hole into something, such as the ground. I had to dig into the soil and create a hole for the flowers.
2. To investigate in an attempt to uncover information about someone or something, often negative information. I've been digging into the archives for any information on her past, but I haven't found a single thing. 😀 There are more meanings, though.
@@funkaddictions Thank you. As far as I know, the phrase "dig in” is used when someone encourages someone to do something, for example, I tell guests: “I have already set the festive table, let`s dig in!”😉💯

I think over this issue there is some further details that we don't know. we are going to meet him about that and destination is much more farther than we have imagined.

I'm from England and I have never used the word "farther" in any context. All UK dictionaries, and the major US ones, define further and farther as comparative adverbs, so I wonder where this distinction originated from?
To be honest, I'm in South Africa and we never used "farther". I was always under the impression "further" is British English, and "farther" American English.

LOL... I realized something when you were breaking the word 'farther' down and how one would remember it better. But then, I saw something weird; not 'then but "fart" and then "her". Now I really remember this. Thanks. hahahahaaha.

Due to the pandemic, my trip to Australia has been further delayed.
I usually use my bike to get around my neighborhood, but when I need to go farther, I take the public bus.
