    My son had surgery for cancer in his salivary gland when he was 12 years old. The dr. had to cut his ear off and lift it back to reach the cancerous gland. No one thought to take note if his ear lobes were genetically attached (like his dad’s) or unattached (like mine). You guessed it, they reattached it the wrong way…unattached. So now he has one of each. He’s in his thirty’s now, it has never bothered him. In fact in high school biology when their teacher told the class that a person had either attached or unattached earlobes but never one of each . He and his friends had a good time “proving her wrong”.
    Thankfully the cancer was removed with one short surgery and he has never had anymore problems. The surgery was preformed at MD Anderson, an amazing hospital. It was a very unusual cancer for anyone, especially a child. All glory to God!

      That being said, it is an unfortunate reality that that wisdom comes at the price of physical decay. I don't want to look young (I never even did when I was young), but sagging skin is just a reminder of decay, and I don't want that.

      Claudia, I agree with you. After looking at a lot of after pictures by different surgeons of different ethnicities, I am curious if the ethnicity of the plastic surgeon plays a big role. I wonder if it’s because when a plastic surgeon sees his or her reflection or has grown up in a certain culture they would apply what is familiar and what they are surrounded with as an artistic eye to their patients.

      Hello Claudia, I just had a great face lift, and my doctor actually said as a compliment that , African American women ,even at 70 look so good, that they don't need a face lift.
      I have noticed that people like the gorgeous Dianne Carroll looked a bit aged by 80, though. I also have been noticing that the many great facelift doctors in the world
      are of Scandinavian descent . I think it's because people in that part of the world age sooner, being fair skinned. I'm a medium skin caucasian and aged way better than
      most of the Nordic people. Still, with everyone living longer, there is a market for African American face lifts and someone should start specializing in it. My makeup artist
      is a very dark African American and went to an African American plastic surgeon for an upper eye lift over 10 years ago and had a droop in one eye, and lots of problems correcting
      it. He thought his surgeon would understand how to work with his heavier skin texture, just because he had the same skin. So it doesn't matter what the race of the surgeon is
      as long as he/she understands what to do. I agree there needs to be work and attention paid to different ethnic skin types in plastic surgery. A lot of business is being missed out.

      Go for the facelift. Don't let moral judgement stand in the way of something that really interests you. There's nothing graceful about hanging skin, and there's no reason to allow natural decay. I want to age as the best version of myself. What is graceful? Elegance, attractiveness, grooming. What is natural? We exercise in man-made facilities with machines, we watch our diet with supplements and carefully produced foods, we get dental care like fillings and implants, we go to the hair salon to get our hair cut and colored. We use cars, cell phones, appliances, computers, medical drugs, flush toilets.
      Taking advantage of modern commodities and technology is not a bad thing.
      Aging leads to death. While death can't be avoided, the natural path to it is not a glorious one.
      I say, get your facelift and be happy about it.

    I wish aging could just be accepted and celebrated as the gift that it is. Why not have all plastic surgeons just stop these expensive cosmetic 'secrets' which are damaging and insidious. Address this cultural distaste for signs of aging, change the way media treats aging, have more representation of older people in media, give people therapy to address and accept themselves as they are. One day I hope its a reality.

    • @yelloe
      @yelloe 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can't really change the whole of society, you can only change your own view of aging. Also people are just insecure about aging because of looks and you don't look conventionally good anymore compared to when you're younger. It's a vain mindset constantly thinking of attractiveness all the time.
      Everyone gets old. I think it's a blessing because you are able to live longer to see and experience life and you are going to be closer to God. If you don't believe in God then of course it will be more depressing when you're aging because it just means you're deteriorating and that's it.

    • @dammar117

      Aging (sagging, getting weaker, losing our vibrancy) is not a blessing. It's the price we pay for the blessing of continuous living.
      Aging bothers us because it brings us closer to death. We don't want to be reminded of death.

      Well, they are visible. I can tell because I have this problem. But I knew beforehand I have a bad scar healing and I still went for a facelift and I'm happy with it. I had my facelift when I was 42 and I'm 57 on the pic with the cap. There was too much loose skin which annoyed me, so I rather opted for visible scars. Happy New Year 😊

      Same 😭😭 My lower face and neck lift was a very painful experience! I wouldn't do it again. I wasn't prepared for the pain, because I'm younger (early 40s) and the surgeon said it would be a super easy recovery, just like the doc in this video. I had only requested non-narcotic pain relief because I didn't think it would hurt. That first night was Hellish!! I called first thing in the morning to switch to vicoden and even that barely touched the pain that first week. I think surgeons need to be more honest. Maybe I'm just sensitive, but dude. That shit hurt so bad!!! I'm not even sure about my results because it's only been 3 weeks and I look a bit odd. Sigh.

I don’t think beauty that comes from random gene combinations is more valuable than beauty from the skill of a surgeon and the world would be better if we didn’t judge each other for decisions about our own bodies. This new breast makes her feel so much better. She feels “whole” again. Now I must say that I am lucky to live in a country where cancer treatments, revalidation, psychological therapy, wigs and even reconstructive surgery is greatly covered by our social system. Otherwise people would be broke after having cancer.

    It seems so odd that some of the wealthiest people didn’t pay top dollar for the best plastic surgeons. Ultimately they can’t and in some cases didn’t take it with them so they should’ve just paid for the best when they had the money and opportunity. Madonna seems to have taken that hint and is on a better path. The swelling is down and she actually looks great. She should’ve taken a hard pass on the BBL though. Cher has been using top notch surgeons for a while and looks fabulous for her age. Her face doesn’t look like she’s an entirely different person. Please do a video highlighting some older people in the industry who actually did it right. I’m 56 and I don’t have wrinkles but my face has some minor loss of elasticity so the corners of my lips are starting to bend downward in a resting state and I have the very beginnings of jowls. I’m not sure what to do. I wish I had done something more preventative, but this didn’t start until I was 54. 🤦🏽‍♀️ I only need a lower face lift at best. Unless jowls can be fixed without a full lower lift. Contemplating some temporary options like threading as I need to be on camera these days a lot with work but would rather just have the surgery and have lasting effect.

  • @dandeleona4760
    @dandeleona4760 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The thing is physiologically floppy skin isn't loose skin, it's skin over muscles of the face that are too tight. When those facial muscles are stretched back out, the skin on top lays smooth again with less excess kinda like fabric over elastic waistband. Of course, If there's muscle wasting, or a mass removal, that's different. Skin on a face is not like skin on your arms or legs. You can't pull the skin off a face like a jacket, like skinning a squirrel. Facial skin has fibrous attachments to the muscle underneath which allows us to form facial expressions, bob our eyebrows, flare nostrils, squint, or twitch away an annoyance. Faces have variations because of those fibers. And it's those fibers that drag skin with them as muscle underneath shrinks , bunching skin on top. There will always be some muscle wasting in places naturally from everyday living. We chew a certain way, maybe one side more than the other, we sing, we smoke pipes or cigarettes, purse to drink wine, we grimace in ways characteristic to our personalities. All this leads to highs and lows of muscles, but the fibers never change. For instance, we get hollow cheeks with age as the muscle underneath shortens from repetitive chewing. The trampoline of skin and muscle between cheek bone and jaw bone shorten and the skin on top begins a glacial slide with gravity because there's no support for the ample epidermal real estate on top. But you CAN fill out your cheeks again with stretching that trampoline back out (being careful not to grab the skin doing it) so skin fibers are again perpendicular to their support.
    Think about it. Children are born with naturally relaxed facial muscles, plump muscle support, and the skin attachment fibers sit perpendicular to the muscle layer beneath. As we mature, all that changes with repetitive actions. To regain some of that skin support, we have to restore the foundation to it's youthful length.
    Not taking all this basic biology into account leads plastic surgeons to concentrate on skin as if there's too much of it, with complete disregard for the flattened support structure, and eventually the skin on top has no more stretch in it and surgery is no help either. Skin is glassy, pores given a 'nap' orientation, and support fiber structures so deranged, that final aging is never pretty or even particularly graceful at that stage. It's usually macabre. Doll like.
    I've been doing this stretching for about 5 years and while I'm hitting 70, my facial skin is in remarkably good shape and tone. Anyone can do it if it's understood you can't just grab your face and start yanking it around without irreparably breaking those supporting fibers. A good place to start for me was to look at anatomical drawings of the face and know where muscle fibers are going, and what happens to skin on top. The support fibers will be perpendicular between the two. The easiest and least damaging test of what I'm saying is stretching the mouth to get rid of lip lines. My lips were pulling into my mouth (hey, I'm OLD) and wrinkles formed around my top lip as the orifice muscle shortened and pulled my lips underneath.. This makes perfect sense. Most sipping uses the top lip, strengthens and shortens the top muscle of that "O" muscle forming the mouth, and after 70 years, it wrinkles up the skin on top. But when I carefully pulled that top "O" muscle out, the skin on top laid flat again. From there I began to wonder if other muscles of the face work that way too, and it turns out most of them do.
    Granted, no amount of manipulation is going to give me that angelic 10-year old face. It's unlikely at 70, I'm going to look 30 again. There's unavoidable things like sun damage, muscle wasting, connective tissue derangement, etc. that can never be reversed. But I could reduce crow's feet, chin flaps, gobble neck, sunken eyes, droopy eyebrows, hollow cheeks, droopy nose. What I needed to know and understand was what's underneath skin, the muscle action of those fibers and how it affects skin on top, and what action reverses it, and genuine respect for the inflexible dermal anchors from skin to muscle. Because once THOSE fibers are damaged - by stretching or surgery - they can't be reattached, so I knew any program from there would have to be about preserving them. You'd think results take daily routine, but happily no. It can be spot repair, since facial stretching relieves skin bunching within about 20 minutes. Get those stretches wrong, and it scared the crap out of me, looking like everything was made worse! Fortunately, even gross errors smoothed out in a day or two. When done right, there's a kind of initial skin 'shock' where it looks wrinkly worse, but after 20 minutes the skin lays back down correctly and fuller. The stretch done right feels like a sunburn, so there's even feedback when to stop going too far.
    If you want to research this yourself, go for it. Just credit me so I get my 15 minutes of fame before I die. :D
