Often it's a marital breakup where the guy doesn't know that it wasn't a magical fairy cleaning up in the night ... it was the unseen partner that's disappeared...
they were boys who tried to marry a mummy, not men who wanted a partner. girls were brought up being taught housework, but nor boys esoeciallly back then. this helped no one.
The responsibility to maintain their living space is on both partners, especially since the man in this case has ASD. My partner also has ASD and we just split the chores and set a routine, which he can easily follow and it works. I think in their case they got stuck in a rut and got used to it until it became too much.
@@BlazeCarlton i waa talking about Les, as his partner had left him, as mentioned in the op. but i did not make it clear, sorry. i have Asperger's too, and guessed that this other man was, and yes, a clear routine of specific tasks could have worked, but they are of a generation where the woman was expected, without question, to do the housework, by herself. the tv shows showing equality were shocking, at the time, not a documentary of current life. the man had his shop, the woman had her house.. then. it just got on top of them, and they did not know a way out. glad they got help. it was lovely to see.

This programme does a great disservice to Ocd sufferers. Cleaning is one of many thing's people suffer with. It can also manifest as extremely violet thoughts.
OCD manifests itself in many forms. My partner has OCD and tends to focus on a paranoia about people having spit on him and spreading germs. He is not at all obsessed with tidiness or cleanliness of the home. This programme just focuses on OCD sufferers who feel the need to constantly clean. I don't think it's doing a disservice to OCD sufferers, it's just highlighting one aspect of it and showing how sufferers can actually help others.
80% of the model train couples mess is paper & cardboard. One trip a week to the nearest big recycling bin would sort that. My supermarkets has 4 mahoosive ones , easy oeasy 😁
(Insert here the song that says: but love goes where my Rosemary go...) It's really sweet and inspiring that after all of those years together Rosemary's husband keeps fighting to keep her
I don’t like the way Rosemary is blaming her husband’s Asperger’s as the reason for the filthy house. I have Asperger’s and my house is exceptionally clean. more OCD in fact
Totally agree! I have worked with teenagers with all kinds of special needs. Although a love of trains is a classic sign of being on the spectrum , untidiness and uncleanness are not. There's no excuse for Rosemary not to organise or clean.
Rosemary could have cleaned the toilet and done the dishes every 2-3 days at least. The husband is bringing stuff in and just chucking it around but she could have done a bit more.
I agree fair enough he's bringing in items (that could have been organised properly) but the dirty bathroom, kitchen ect and dirt in general isn't him ... that's her not cleaning x
I have very high functioning Aspergers and know a lot of people on the spectrum. Many people who work in the medical field, sciences, engineering and uni professors etc are. I have also have had a lot of patients on the spectrum. Being untidy to the point of the surroundings being filthy is not very typical. Collecting something of interest to the point of hoarding or OCD is very common. ADD/ADHD symptoms are also very common. This house is not like this because he is possibly on the spectrum, there's more going on and both have contributed to this.
Rosemary and Julian reminds me so much of my parents it’s uncanny. I remember even as a kid I’d try clear a space so I’d have a clean area to work in and my Dad would just fill it up with his crap, it’s so disheartening and selfish. At least Mum kept the main living areas clean and tidy but as soon as my brother and I moved out our bedrooms were taken over you couldn’t even get to the back of the room
I’ve definitely got a touch of this, can’t relax unless the house is in order. I remember washing my hands about 40 times a day as a kid too. Interesting.
@@rainbowlady1532 More like what Julian has to endure. Imaging him in the kitchen making tea while Rosemary and her friend are sitting in the living room nattering like a pair of fishwives.

I spend so much money on cleaning products. I clean my toilet twice a day, two loads of washing a day, can’t leave the house if my bed isn’t made and my sofa looks perfect. I genuinely get stressed when people sit on my sofa because they ruin my cushion display, I purposely sit on the edge of the sofa so I don’t affect the cushions. Any tissue, wrapper, receipt needs to go straight in the bin or I can’t relax 😂 so I’m literally both these people!!
Les is so bloody rude! I didn't watch this episode to the end so I don't know if he redeemed himself. But standing there saying that Dave is pathetic because he takes pride in everything he does and can't even help it! Yet he's not used his cooker for 2 years because he's too lazy to take the crap off of it!! Oh please 🙄
Dave wasn't much better. He sounded like a bully with the constant question after question. Swearing saying that he was 'p*ssed off' that is not the way to behave either.

Dave was quite tactless towards Les (though at times Dave did have a point, but he could have been less abrasive).
"Gone off cows boob" 😂😂I love Hayley

So glad I'm not the only one who chuckled at that!
Can't help but wonder if it's healthy using that polish on surfaces that might touch food
Great episode, they were all lovely :)
Depression is a terrible illness.Your standards slip as low as your self esteem and your body feels like lead. You may want to get up and move and do things with all your heart, but it feels like climbing a mountain so you dont even try.
