There’s a thing with the bbc in the 80s when they wanted to show turtles cartoon they specifically wanted the ninja part changed to hero as why it’s known as Ternange mutant hero turtles in the uk
From wiki: The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ... the name was changed to "Teenage Mutant 'Hero' Turtles" (or TMHT, for short) because the BBC deemed the word ninja to have excessively violent connotations for a children's program. Consequently, everything related to the Turtles (comic books, video games, toys, etc.) was renamed before being released in the UK as well as various other European countries

05:41 I keep expecting them to name-drop Deliveroo at this point.
07:19 I think there was a genuine misreading of quiche like that with a diplomatic meeting between the US and the UK.
12:10 If it weren't for Gerry Anderson's material, The Muppet Show might never have got off the ground.
12:12 Not quite. Thunderbirds came out the following year to Stingray. The former has episodes that are 50 minutes long without ads, the latter has episodes that are 30 minutes long with ads.
16:30 Oohhhh, my ears are alight!
35:40 Let me guess. "All because the lady loves... broken chocolates."
36:28 Could've sworn that was the Milk Tray man.
43:00 Oh no, it's the KitKat one.
43:43 No sweat; even Gerry Anderson forgot about John.
48:20 Every Thunderbirds movie was a flop, but this one takes the biscuit.
53:20 So much for British adverts.

I had a Metro Car in the 1980's, it was dark blue and had the Manhattan Skyline on in with the logo Metro running down each side. Although one of my work mates kept on asking me could I move my Escort in the car park, as we had to park quite close to get the cars in! Oh well I guess she 'should have gone to Spec Savers!' You forget how much Noel Edmonds was on the TV back then and I guess he would attend the opening of an envelope if they paid him.

@@mikejamesporter I think how they do it is that a item has to be at retail price for 30 days beforehand so whenever they launch a new sofa they do it at a store that doesn't have a lot of traffic and make it really hard to come across, and then 30 days later it's available in all the stores nationwide at the "sale" price.

UK ads are the best ads in the world.
To understand the context of some ads and how Funny they actually are, you really need to understand our British sense of humour, theres Nothingl like it.
Some are Very UK Centric, and yes it was a young Jeff Goldblum.
The ads saying "Stay Home, Save lives" is some really futuristic sounding shit from a RoboCop movie, but it's right now, here as we write our comments and watch this video.
I'm English from and in East London, and we Rarely mess around when it's life threatening, no fuss, straight facts, hard as they sometimes may be.
Cadbury Gorilla playing Phil Collins song '(I can feel it calling)..in the Air Tonight ' on drums, it's awesome, you should search for Cadburys' Gorilla In the Air Tonight,(Extended mix), it's around 4 minutes long.

Those Radio Times/TV Times ads won't make much sense but it took until government deregulation in 1991 before you could buy a TV listings magazine featuring both BBC channels and ITV/C4. Up until then you had to buy both as they had a monopoly on their respective channels making it a bit of pain to find out what you wanted to watch in the pre EPG era! Post 1991 lots of other copycat magazines launched as well.
