      Sound travels in lines, or waves. When those waves are looked at on something that can read their hertz, they have a pattern; a square, flat, round, triangle, etc.

      The TH-cam Phantom Official then trap a bunch of settlers in a area where they can’t escape and through some hallucigen grenades in and watch them fight for my amusement.

    Old news, but I built a working carnival game with those target switches. It keeps score and dispenses a prize if you get a high enough score. Player gets to choose between a teddy bear and sugar bombs, then hit a switch and get their prize. Made a video about it where I take too long to get to the point.

    Think you can design a song by using the logic gates and the switches. It's all about timing, like delay and such.

    It may be too far in the distant future of this message for you to be reading it, but if you'd at least THINK about doing some music...
    You might be able to find a start point in the old noteblock based rail systems of minecraft. I suspect there is still some help that explains how those worked. (Would still work, but nobody DOES them, anymore, EVER).
    Just picture though....
    Toccata and Fugue in D Minor .... as you enter ... at least the opening bars that everybody knows.

    those speakers are useless. you should be able connect them to stereos to have music playing throughout your settlement.

    if your looking to make music, I would try making falling objects activate pressure plates as well.

    I'd say someone might make a paintball turret as a mod. Surprising you can't connect a radio to the speakers.

    I would of prefer a new turret or at least a Turret level selection in the workshop. To make it easier to defend or make our defenses more versatile.

    Oxhorn, could you do a video on making Automatons, like how to get it started, and what all you can do with it for people that doesn't know how to start it of how to everything that the DLC offers, thanks!

    Isn't there some sort of timer pylons in vanilla fallout? you could make your song with them, possibly... Also, use something more square-ish for demonstrating stuff in the conveyor belts, it'll go faster because there will be no counter rotation going on and lastly those conveyor lasers I would assume they will relate to the conveyor switch that changes lanes in the Y conveyor intersection (I'm sorry I forgot the name of the thing). Keep making these sort of informational videos, they have really helped me understand the complexity of contraptions DLC

    The fancier defenses are overrated.. just wire an alarm to a gate. Gate closes on alarm sounding, a flare is popped, minutemen charge in and turrets chew up whatever while you and yours stick behind the walls.

    Hi Oxhorn, FYI the NOT gate only requires one input and inverts that input to the output.
    i.e. Input on = output off and vice versa.
    AND gate - both inputs must be on for output to be on. All other combinations are off.
    NAND gate is a NOT AND gate together and the outputs are reversed compared with the AND.
    OR and NOR are similarly related.
    OR gate - If both inputs are off then output is off. All other settings result in output on. Reverse that for NOR.
    An XOR gate is an eXclusive OR gate. This means that one and only one input can be on for the output to be on. If both inputs are on or both are off then the output is off.
    Hope that makes more sense of it now....

      Thanks Gil ! I've always wanted to learn how logic gates work, but never took the time. I've read your comment and wrote it down to remember and understand the logic behind those gates ;) I may try to use it in game later.

      I tried to make a basic drum loop once, using timers, bud it wouldn't sync properly. Too bad, but it was fun to try. Maybe it would work using something else to trigger the drum sounds. I may try with logic gates but it's even more complicated to set up. And if the sync issue is related to the samples themselves and not the triggers, it may be impossible to find a solution.

    the momentary switch conveyor laser would be good for building an item counter on a conveyor belt (I have not done so personally, but I read you can do so with the nixie tube), though I do most often use it for item diverters. (I used to have a circuit to split stockpiles of scrap using "or" gates and "nor" gates it was basically an item counter to allow so many items to pass an item diverter before being diverted so I could stockpile items to take to different locations (merchants could afford so much water per trip) so it broke the stockpile down by ratios. (If Abernathies could afford 1 unit, goodneighbor could afford 3, and diamond city could afford 4 for every 1 goodneighbor could afford, etc. (I no longer remember my calculations for the actual ratios from a couple years ago) but it had only taken me a few hours to work up a spread sheet at the time. I think it was something like "the combined sum of all merchants budget at the largest settlement (budget wise) divided by the smallest to determine a unit of value or something like that. I have slept since then. the hard part was developing a counter circuit to know when to throw each gate.

    Wouldn't it be good to use the pain-gun traps to paint Chamelon Death Claws and attackers that are using stealth boys? Would it even work?

    As far as using the targets for defense... I am going to try to have them trigger traps (flame throwers, tesla coils, etc...) in certain areas via vanilla machine gun turret fire... i.e. a turret firing on an enemy that passes near the target should have a reasonable chance of hitting the target at least once due to the turret fire's innate spread. Unlike a pressure plate or tripwire, the turret would inherently distinguish friend from foe.

    I have a problem that crops up fairly often. When I build a house/shack to house settlers in, it says in the Settlement management software that their beds are unsheltered and so I miss out on happiness. I've tried using both prefab shacks as well as different hand made shacks and nothing seems to be fixing it. Are you or anyone else having this issue and do you know a fix?

      The software counts as an "unsheltered" bed any bed that is placed, but does not have a settler assigned to it. So if you have more beds than settlers, the mod will register "unsheltered" for a few, even if the are all sheltered.
      Also, the game will unassign and reassign settlers to beds when you open the workshop, scrap things, reassign settlers, ans so forth. Sometimes this can cause the software to register an unsheltered bed. So, get out of the workshop, wait 5 min or so, then check the software. That should show you your true number of unsheltered beds.

      I'm still testing about settlement hapiness, production, storage capacity and so on and I can't confirm Oxhorn on this point: i often have 10 or 20 unoccupied beds when I send settlers to other locations or when I'm building ahead and hapiness is not effected ... but the game engines sometimes goes astray and fixes himself when waiting.
      I use no mods, example:
      Hangman's alley (has 4 floors now): 21 settlers, 45 beds, 92 hapiness... but also has like a bunch of shops...
      Croup manor 15 settlers, 41 beds 90 hapiness.
      ok: I'm going to remove these unoccupied beds and see if hapiness goes up :)
      On the other hand It seems that a huge amount of filled cages can have an impact on hapiness (Boston Airport, 45 settlers, 80% with 7 gunner cages, 65% with 20 gunner cages, nothing else changed :)

      tested 4 settlements over 4 days (sleeping 96 hours), no changes in hapiness after I removed unoccupied beds:
      Croup manor: 15 settlers, 41 beds lowered to 18 beds, Hapiness 94
      Hangman's alley: 21 settlers, 45 beds to 23 beds, hapiness 91
      Dalton's Farm: 15 settlers, 45 beds to 20 beds, hapiness 92
      Longfellow's cabin: 15 settler's, 40 beds to 19 beds, hapiness 92

    I have little faith in pressure plates and tripwires, as you or your settlers can accidentally get them on and activate a trap with friendlies around. Now, having a target switch instead means you can shoot it in the distance at the right time to pinpoint activate a trap. Coped with warehouse door that is only open when energy running, you can force all taiders under the door and fry them with fire trap~

      Good idea! Another commentor suggested wiring it to the raid alarm, so it only goes off when a raid happens.

      ***** And even with all these precautions, heavily defended settlement will be obliterated if player decides not to attend the raid. Tis kind of silly, especially if you need to make a hike across the wasteland on Survival difficulty...

      Survivor difficulty will pretty much make settlement not worth it, unless you REALLY like them and have the helibird grenades from the BOS

      Maintaining settlements on Survival difficulty is actually my personal challenge. I have mapped supply routes I will have, plan to specialise settlements in some specific task, etc. Also found an OP robot build, so I'm gonna assign guard duties and provisioner roles to these robots. Settlers will farm, scavenge and maintain stores only.
      Oh, btw, I won't get to BoS for a while, so I am now using roads. It's actually amazing how little of the Commonwealth we see using fast travel.

      I agree, I played in survivor for a little while in my main game but had to revert back to very hard because of my kids and work I cannot afford looking for a bed while fighting hordes of ghouls mid-city... which sucks now because in update 1.6 coming soon you can quit saves, and I cannot go back to survivor....And mapping roads & trade routes! that's dedication, best of luck to you sir! Did you start in survivor from the beginning? Lastly tell me about you robot! I made one that (I'm playing in very hard) killed every enemy on sight before I could even draw my combat shotgun, and I was aiming for not OP when I made her, or it moreover.
