I think the reason WGU’s legitimacy is called into question is due to flat out gate keeping. In the past if somebody grew up lower class, had a family, did poorly in high school, or had to work a full time job they did not have the option to go to college. Attending college for a long time was an exclusive opportunity solely for those of the upper class. Now people with less fortunate backgrounds have the opportunity to earn the same credentials as privileged individuals and a lot of them hate having more competition. I saw the same thing about 5 or so years ago with some college students from privileged backgrounds complaining about enlisted service members attending competitive programs and even prestigious programs for free via the GI Bill since most enlisted service members do not come from privileged backgrounds. They said that they think that enlisted service members should only be allowed to earn trades.
Short answer: No, it's not a scam. Long answer: It's definitely not a scam. It's accredited, well respected among the communities it's affected and it's gotten me personally into Georgia Tech's OMSCS program. The work that you put in is real and it's honest.
MBA grad there. Love this college! 1. Better be ready. Alot of common sense and business relevant and do it yourself program! It’s NOT at all “group projects” like many other $$$$$$$ grad programs. 2. You will be challenged, but it’s doable if you are competitive! Adrenaline affect. ;) 3. Attend the Alumni party. They truly care about you and your money. 4. Wished they have phd! :/

This is by far the best explanation out there!
7:47 Another big accreditation WGU has is ABET for their BSCS program, the only fully online BSCS to have it.
I know this is a presentation, but this would be really nice to listen to as a podcast!
Cool idea!
Love this.
