Depends on the application one wants. Two different animals here! The woofer above is a PA type woofer they tend to have high FS . ( more mid bass punchy ) fast transient response . vary different from a JL w7 subwoofer or many other main stream subwoofers.

I personally like the mid bass drivers more than long throw sub woofers.the tight transient response is what I like

Speaker should work in before play hard the best way is to used 110v on a control nob and that will flex the cone..
