Scandroid returns with the full-length sophomore album Monochrome, available Friday, October 27th. Featuring 13 tracks, from the retro-synth pop hooks of "Afterglow," "Rendezvous," "Future Bloodline," and "A Thousand Years," to the instrumental epics "Oblivia" and "Searching For a Lost Horizon," Monochrome imagines an alternate future where truth is hidden in "Monochrome."
The album includes modern synthwave covers of John Williams’ famous Star Wars opus "The Force Theme" as well as a hauntingly powerful cover of Michael Jackson’s "Thriller" to be released on Friday the 13th of October. The album concludes with a bonus remix of "Thriller" from mysterious synthwave artist/producer PYLOT.
Following the international success of the debut Scandroid album (Top 10 iTunes Electronic Album USA, Russia, Canada, Germany, United Kingdom, Australia & #5 Billboard Electronic Album), Monochrome continues the journey of ‘Red’ & ‘Aphelion’ in a cyberpunk storyline set in Neo-Tokyo in the year 2518.

When I heard this in the album sampler, I went "HELL YEA, Can't wait to hear it in full". And I ain't disappointed
I really want to know how the story around Red developed in Monochrome. My theory so far is that after he became a single entity with Aphelion, man and machine, his feelings and senses changed. That's why Red can't see colors anymore and sees the world in Monochrome. Red realizes that this might have been a bad idea and all of this new world he enters now is not "his home".
Maybe I got this wrong haha. Could you please tell us a bit more of the lore going on in Monochrome?

Bought the album earlier today, listened to it all the way through, and just immediately fell in love with this song. It has a feeling that I haven't yet heard on this album that really sets it apart for me. Absolutely love the chorus. Likely going to be my favorite off Monochrome.
This is the one I was waiting for the most after hearing the album sample! I like how he put so many references of other Scandroid tracks on this one.

Magnificent! Your vocals are just godlike in this one. Also, the lyrics are something I really love in this one, the repetition of the terms that you've used throughtout the whole story feel so natural, as if you are Red himself.

It took watching this video for me to realize that the Monochrome logo is actually a spaceship and that this album is about the androids leaving Earth.
Everyone's talking about the song (as they should). But I'm over here puzzling over this Coach commercial beforehand. Was that Michael B. Jordan? What did I just watch?

With the synth at 2:30 , i think Klayton SHOULD have made an epic solo to close out the song. Still solid, but we've already seen that pattern. The lyrics feel quite mediocre compared to other songs too, rhymes are re-used, same kind of lovesong.. I know thats a universe that repeats itself and all, buuuut... I really enjoy Shout, Thriller, mostly because of their diversified lyrics from other musicians.
In my opinion, it would be cooler to "write a new chapter of the Scandroid story" for each song.
For example, when the song is called "The Veil", which is an entity we have not heard about yet, the lyrics could use new vocabulary, and depict a new situation Red is into. For example, "Pro-bots and the Robophobes" sounds really dark, industrial, tells us more about the origins of the Bots, the conflict, the original robotic firstborns, the fact that they're sentient... it tells a story, that we can't get anywhere else in the album. Thats what i found so unique about the song. I wish it was *more* like that for newer songs.
Therefore, each album would feel like a movie, with different adventures inside of it, instead of having two verses which consists , for half of it, of Salvation/Eden/Paradise/Neo-Tokyo, and heard chord patterns in the background, when, again, the synth at 2:30 could have made up for an epic solo right after the last chorus, i would have instantly fell in love.
I'm not trying to take away anything from Klayton's work, but rather giving clues and constructed feedback to what one could expect from new Scandroid songs in the future; my wall of text may sound angry, but don't get me wrong, i'm absolutely amazed to get a new album from this project.
Last but certainly not least, the organic/cyborg vibe in the very first Scandroid single, Salvation Code, is unique. Rest of the work is cheesier/love songs, i like them too very much, but that particular vibe, and the industrial one in Probots & Robophobes, are a very cool aspect of Scandroid to exploit.

You don't sound angry at all. I agree, Monochrome so far has sounded boring. The Thriller remake is looking like it'll be the best of the bunch, which is a shame, because the original songs should sound just as awesome. Also more collaborations with other artists would be a nice touch, since Scandroid songs seem to shine best in other's hands (i.e. DWTD remix of Neo-Tokyo).
I get what you're saying, I hope Klayton sees this. You seem like you want to see him better his work, that's important in critiquing someone's stuff.
Very well put. I agree. I think maybe Klayton didn't leave enough time between the two albums for Monochrome to be as much filled with greatness as the first one ... but then again, it's still a great piece of art and sound ... so, please, more of it :-)

There's a PDF that explains Scandroid's origins (worth a read, if you can find it). That symbol was part of a robot I think. As for why it's flying above a city...why not?
