The cheap guitar market is pumping out some surprisingly decent guitars these days. I picked up a Donner Seeker Series strat that normally sells in the $280-$300 range recently with turning it into a mod project. I just played it for the first time this week. The neck feels great, all the frets are rounded off. It's in the same ballpark weight wise as my PRS, Charvel, and Schecter, which are all strat styles. It sounds a little on the weak side compared to all of my guitars but that's also helping with inspiration. I picked this one up from an Amazon returns auction site for $105. It was also supposed to be black....it's green lol. I had intentions of modding it similar to Dave Murray's Paul Kossoff strat and I still might. Cool video, dude! I watched all the way through.
Hey Brad, thanks for the kind words, your thoughts and for watching. I was expecting this guitar to have unplayable action, but that was quite a surprise for me. Also, there were no sharp fret edges which is clearly something I hate about cheap guitars, ha. But give it some time here in the South and we'll see. :)
And let me also I add, I love that when referring to a point in time, you reference the guitar/amp being used instead of a year and we still both know the timeframe. :)
Ha ha! As someone who would like a seafoam green Strat, this isn't that. I admit, it does look quite close to seafoam in that lighting, but it has too much blue in it. The page I ordered it off of just said "GREEN", ha. As someone with truly green guitars, I can't with good conscience admit this one to my green guitar family. :)
True. I might should include it, but it’s not available anymore and the price was changed to $89. Kind of weird to raise the price and not even have it available anymore. :)
Ok, I've included the link to it now in the description. It has different pics now and and new price and is unavailable. But that's where I bought it. :)
Have you bought a cheap guitar off of Amazon? What was your experience?
2 grotes, one firefly. basic set-up and all good. microphonic pickups annoying tho
Even if it's junk it's great for learning repair work on like changing frets, etc.
Absolutely! It would be perfect for those sort of things!

I remember this track back from the summer workshop/triaxis/2:90/suhr standard days.
Yes! Partially resurrected for video goodness! :)

Is Paul colorblind? Definitely seafoam green.
