    Beautiful images Paul. I liked the images in 5:19 and the final shot. Interesting learning curve on focus stacking, but I guess that’s the case for switching to a different system. But I can tell you’re enjoying it a lot and will get the hang of it in no time 😉

    Awesome video Paul - fun times. Great images also. I'm interested to see how you progress with the focus-stacking. I've set up focus-peeking to help me out learning where to focus - and even that is showing more in focus than actually is, in my opinion. And now I do worry I'll get lazy and will rely on it later. 😅 Thx for the video mate!

    there's a nice shot just outside the top falls gate, in the field leading to the top carpark, couple of nice trees with Ullswater in the back ground. nice in the right conditions check it out next time you are up there.

    Good to se you seem to be feeling much beter, mate. I thing the medium format wil suit your letter box style.

    So basically whatever your focal length on any format gives the same depth of field.
    A 50mm on 35mm, 6x6, 5x4 etc has the same depth of field at any given aperture.

    nice video, well explained. I've a GFX 100s and plan to start using tripod. Which L-bracket brand do you use in this video ?

    • @PaulthomsonphotographyUk
      @PaulthomsonphotographyUk  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you it’s a Kirk enterprises L bracket 😊✌️

    Interesting comment on MF focus stacking. Mark Denney talked about that awhile ago too. In my experience with full frame, it’s pretty easy to get a decent focus stack in PS, but quite a bit more work to get a high quality one. The thought of having to do more of that kind of scares me off of MF. In an unrelated note, I can’t for the life of me figure out what a camera button labeled “DRIVE” does! 🤷‍♂️😀

    • @PaulthomsonphotographyUk
      @PaulthomsonphotographyUk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha for sure the Drive button basically changes between single shot and continuous, Bracket etc
      Thanks for watching Bill 😊✌️

      The Fuji medium format sensor (44x55mm) is basically 1.6 to 1.7 times as large (area) as a full frame sensor. To focus stack you'd need to stop down an extra 2/3 to 1 stop to get about the same DOF in each shot as with full frame (and the same total number of shots needed). Even less than 2/3 stop if you consider pixel size. With a 50MP Fuji that wouldn't matter when it comes to diffraction, compared to a approximately 50MP FF camera. With a 100MP Fuji you'd see slightly more diffraction effect than with a 50MP FF. You might need a slower shutter speed though, which could be a problem or advantage depending on the situation.

    I don’t know about most people who follow TH-cam photographers, but I am pretty fed up with them going for bigger and better cameras which most of us can’t afford. They are getting all this stuff on the back of our ‘likes’, subscriptions, and purchases! They hardly seem to take more than a couple of photos - of dubious quality mostly, and earn a good living it seems. The ‘fan boys’ of course won’t like this!

    • @PaulthomsonphotographyUk
      @PaulthomsonphotographyUk  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can assure you Peter the only reason I have this is because I sold all of my other gear to pay for it and if I was relying on you tube earnings to pay for it I wouldn’t have a camera at all. There seems to be this myth that because we put out content for TH-cam we are making a fortune. Which is simply not true. My earnings last month were around £16 not even enough to cover the fuel costs of getting to the locations.

      I wasn’t particularly referring to you as getting rich but speaking in general about TH-camrs. It is getting ridiculous with this obsession with more and more megapixels and expensive cameras. I am sure that the majority of viewers just want some photography advice, nice scenery and a few decent pictures shown at the end of the day. Personally I believe that TH-cam has become a bit of a racket. Nearly every TH-camr lately has been ‘upgrading’, building a van or sporting the most expensive ‘stuff’ and ‘gear’. And it seems to me have forgotten the ordinary man in the street. So I have started to delete those who do.

      @@petercollins7848 Totally agree with your comment regarding gear and quality. I think you can equate the same thing to to golfers, anglers, etc. Some people must have the 'best' gear on the market probably believing this makes them better at their craft. The quality of some 'photographers' work on you tube is testament to that clearly not being the case. A appreciate a lot of work goes into producing you tube videos (and I don't believe I have the expertise or personality to do it!!) but if you're out there with top end gear people are expecting you the produce work of certain quality and this is where it falls down. BTW Paul, this not aimed at you 😊
