In broadway-speak, you are correct. Broadway language differentiates musical from plays as seen in the Tony awards. However, technically, a musical is a sub genre of play. While the plays that Broadway refers to specifically, are “straight plays.” In which the story is told through dialogue alone and not music. So I guess in the end both you and that person are right. But who’s more correct depends on context.
I can't believe the night after I arrive in New York for the first time she starts back in Matilda and I have tickets for her second night back . I cannot wait as I bought my tickets ages ago I'm more than glad she's back . 😀💜
16:45 I really felt ‘now play a Dmin M7 chord’ cause that’s what I say when someone who isn’t very musical walks into the band room when I’m in it 😂🤷♀️
I like how off the show mr and Mrs wormwood are so nice to each other and lovey dovey, then during the show Mrs wormwood calls mr wormwood a horrid little man.
I went yesterday at 2 and it was so amazing I was in awe I sat in the front row of the balcony dead center it was a great view and everyone is so talented in the cast
My school is having a Matilda play at Saturday June 6 it's actually in Indonesia because my school is international I act as Tammy which is supposed to be Tommy but they couldn't find a boy
Actually in this show, the desks and other parts of the set come up from underneath the stage. Therefore the orchestra can not play under the stage. I have no idea where the play in the Shubert theatre. I just know that they don't play under the stage in Matilda.
Right before the front of the stage (the orchestra pit). It's like right at the very front of the stage but not on the stage. The director (of music) stands so he/she can see the actors to know when to start the music, the other parts of the band are I guess in a tight room under the stage but still at the front. So yea, under the stage, but at the front. (I know this because of Laura Osnes and her behind the scenes vlogs of Cinderella the Broadway Musical
But I think Matilda is different, because since 1) the chairs come out of the floor and 2) the cast enter and exit through the audience, the orchestra can't be where it usually is. So it's probably in another room or underneath the stage. Look up pictures of Matilda Broadway and you'll notice there's no open space for an orchestra at the front.
i think the child wranglers should have a vlog
Yes!! That would be cool!

I mean, many Broadway actors and other Broadway folks also call them plays. And they’re not technically wrong.

Where is the orchestra
It's underneath the stage.

I'm sorry, but I'm sure they do. In a lot of Broadway shows pieces come up from the stage. They're between or behind the orchestra.
