Building a bike rack (steel)

Neighbor needed a bike rack. Took 3-4 hours to do this, and around 1/3 of the time was probably just cleaning the oil/grease off of the steel. Dimensions mentioned in the latter part of the video

I believe the base frame is 1 Inch square tubing. If you look at the video where you measure the" 8 3/4" distance ,the tape markings show basically between the 9 and 10 inch mark so thats why i think the base is 1 inch sq. tubing .Thanks

Great video with dimensions but I'd modify the depth to accommodate bigger bikes. The ones shown at the end are little kids' bikes.

Hi I don't know if u still will reply to this but I am 14 and into welding and I want to clarify. how far apart are the steel that the tire squeezes into. the mesarmen not counting the thickness of the tubing just the inside where the tire goes. if you could reply that would be great thanks

+nathan symington I am unsure, but I am pretty sure I mention it in the video. I just depends on the bikes you plan on putting into it. Mountain bikes with fat tires may need 3-4" easy, but most bikes are probably in the 2.5" range. I have a second bike rack video where I may explain my measurements. Oh, I think it was 1.25 or 1.5" square tubing. The uprights are .5"
