- I am going on a $200 retail sports card spending spree at Walmart for our next sports card pack opening/break! With retail products becoming more available, I decided to see how far $200 can go on various retail sets. The boxes/packs I decided to go with are 2021-22 Topps Bowman University Basketball (blaster), 21-22 Contenders BK (blaster & fat packs), 2021 Mosaic Football (multi-pack cello), 2022 Bowman Baseball (blaster), 2021 Chronicles FB (fat packs), and Gems of the Game football from the MJ Holding Company! Fun fact if those Mystery Boxes are the same size as the Pokemon ones, but PSA & BGS slabs won't even fit in the box. BCCG slabs are thinner/smaller. The more you know.

hitting restocks arent a thing anymore, every walmart ive gone to looks like this, people realized retail isnt worth scalping when the hit chances are so low. its possible but it nowhere near the stuff you can find in hobby.
You should have just taken the Mosaic and left everything else! 😜😜 I actually hit the cover card on the baseball mystery box from Walgreens, it was a Soto rookie card. Those baseball mystery boxes are usually decent.
Prob did better money ratio wise than majority of your hobby openings honestly lol. Crazy how that works now days!!
I like this video, more realistic for the average collector. I like the big money breaks as well, but this is more achievable for most collectors.
I never find Walmarts stocked so well like that.

With all the money I've spent on retail (per month), if I had just saved it and held on to the money an extra month, I'd be able to buy a nice hobby box with better pulls. I just need to take better control of my spending habits.

Whoa. Mosaic football was a dream pack.
For $200, you used to be able to get about 10- blasters back when they were about $19.99 apiece but now with the prices up, I'd say you can get about 6-7 at Wal-Mart depending on what you buy.
Yea fuk sports cards its ruined for me. Use to be cheap and fun every now and then get a good pull from blaster but yea.... Not now.

I'd say about $80-100 in return value - that Mosaic pack saved you - I feel the contenders retail fat packs are completely worthless this year, would have stayed clear of those for sure
Totally agree, and contenders blasters are only worth it if you can feel out the light box at the store for the auto.

I was lucky enough to walk in as the lady was stocking prizm NBA (blue boxes). I didn't wanna "be that guy" but I had to buy them all. I was tired of settling for all the draft picks and contenders. Found a cade on campus and 2 scottie barnes on campus though which made it kind of worth it.

I'm a huge Pokémon collector and they have those hidden gem slab boxes for Pokemon as well.
Poke Rev made a video on it where he opened up 20 of those and ONLY got BCCG 9 ultra rares from them lol. He tried to fit a PSA and BGS slab into the box, and they wouldn't even fit. The slabs advertised on the box are too big. A lot of us were wondering if MJholdings could have a lawsuit against them for completely false advertising lol.
But great vid! As a Pokemon collector it's nice to see someone go to a retail store and pick up some items to rip instead of chasing the hottest, high end products.

The key is only buying boxes with Autos/Mem guaranteed & then try to steal wins on eBay or in stores💙
I woulda gone straight bowman baseball. Then heritage mega box baseball. Assuming I hadn't found that cello of mosaic
I wish my local retailers had that much😂. One of the targets near me doesn’t carry them anymore because of a literal fist fight that broke out over them

Nice. My wal mart has been stocked lately also. Found 4 Mystery basketball boxes and hit 2 18-19 Optic. No Luka or Trey but a fun rip. Also hit a Mac Orange Lazer.

Out of four Walmarts in my area, only one carries any cards and its still behind the counter with a limit. Only product really there is Chronicles and some NCAA. Hopefully it comes back around here soon!
Bowman fat packs are the best value...good chances at base auto's. just not great ceiling

Couldn't go wrong with the mosaic football pack. Sticking to prizim, select, optic and mosaic retail cards seem to hold more value.
It seems football is hard to go wrong with in general.

Those chronicle packs are not their fat packs Panini chewed out on packaging for their Hanger packs and put them in the same packaging as the fat packs with the word Hanger Pack on the front for differentiation

Retail is never great obviously but I had the best luck with 2022 Donruss baseball and 2021 Mosaic football and Bowman University football

Those Gem of the Games packs if you try to put a PSA or BGS graded card in them, they won't fit in the box.

PSA 10 Doncic is the safest buy… ripping retail is almost like throwing money away.

That’s crazy, my Walmarts card sections usually look like they got hit by a hurricane, even if you come like a couple hours after a restock it’s been graped savagely
