suggestion for future spray paint projects: To save your hands from hurting, they make these spray adapters that you put on top of the can, so that you squeeze it instead of having to press down on the top. It’s so much easier and less painful to use them, and they are usually inexpensive and can be purchased at any hardware store. You may want to consider getting a few so that you have them on hand (no pun intended) the next time you use spray paint.

Yes!!!! It reminds me of jawbreakers, those foam mat things for the pool, with the black it reminds me of the scratch art! I love that it reminds me od so many childhood things - evoking childhood nostalgia /wonder is always my goal!
Re: your questions about shipping container homes, some people buy and convert their own, but there are also companies who will fit them out for people. Some even do massive multi-storey shipping container homes; they’re so cool!

05:34 Blue on the screws: that stuff is called "Loc-Tite" and it helps the screws stay in place. Very helpful when your screw is going to have a lot of wiggling (like, on a chair). Wiggling can cause the screw to back out. Don't want that happening on a chair.
I use loc-tite on screws going into certain parts on my car engine.

the shipping containers used for house building are usually ones that have been 'retired' and sold in an auction

Im a scenic artist in Sydney and so much of this project spoke to my soul!! The surface area of whatever you're painting can be so deceptive when it comes to determining how much time you'll spend on it hey!

omg it reminds me of arcade carpet, I love it so much 🤩 also building the furniture on carpet is just to protect wood floors from getting scratched or dented during assembly

So I was watching this and not fully registrering then you said Australia. I've been following you for years, but still nothing. This year, I'm flying to Australia for 33 days of East Coast Travel and the possibility of being able to see this in REAL... I RAN TO MY LAPTOP TO GOOGLE MORE. I can't believe this... I'm going to be in Australia when the whale tails are going to be exhibited. I can freaking cry, this is awesome!

This is so amazing!! I'm proud of you for working outside your comfort zone because look! Amazingness! I think your idea translated really well because I can see how the two ideas of space and the deep ocean are related. And when I saw the finished product it reminds me of how the stars reflect on the water at night. Love it!

The tails will be shown along a 6km walk around the harbour, from around barangaroo through darking harbour and further. Last I heard mine might be on the green in front of The Star! Send me pics if you end up going to see it 😍

If you ever come to the US, Tim Tams and Vegemite seem to be readily available as I just got timtams from the market the other day, so at least here: You're set.
I have audited shipping container companies! Shipping containers are not built by the company who owns them. There are companies who are contracted to build them for the shipping companies. They are marked with company names of who owns them and they are numbered. They are tracked in computer systems as they move around the world. The shipping companies know where they are and what's in them. When there is something wrong with them or the contents, or they end up in a weird place, they get written-off the books as lost assets. They will try to charge whoever's fault it is that the container is no longer usable, and if it's a repeat client, they usually collect for the 'lost' containers. So containers end up out of circulation and not utilized, and that's how people can buy them! And yes, the big container shipping companies have offices and staff locations all around the world!

Ikea chair is for computer work 👩💻 the lil school chair was perf though for those undersides of the tail/a boost up so I could see the top!

I’ve looked into building a shipping container home. You can buy a used shipping container pretty inexpensively, usually around 5k, but they don’t have some sort of digital history to see what it’s been used for so it could have carried something that might be toxic. You can also buy them new but they’re obviously more expansive, last I checked it was around 30k? People basically use it like the frame of a house. I wanted to build a shipping container home so bad. Still do.
You can find Tim tams in the US in Walmart stores.

I do know shipping containers regularly fall off boats and so there’s probably thousands of shipping containers just in the sea which really freaks me out idk
