However, lots of enthusiast calibrators including me - before I bought the LG C9 as a studio client monitor for SDR and HDR content- are using it. If you can afford to buy an external LUT box (between extra US$800 and 1500 +) you probably can use DisplayCal to calibrate the LG C9. @@PortraitDisplays some time i hate reading stuff that was my problem
@@PortraitDisplays i have re-calibrate my tv to hd 709 my question is after calibration i check the tv for dark room gamma say 2.2 when i calibrate for bt1886 at one point i see gamma say 1.9,2.2,2.4 i have a nanocell 2019 should i use 2.4 for dark room or it still have the bt1886 and game mode calibration comes out like this color 2.5av, 6.5max gray scale 1.9av, 4.8max why? everything else comes color 0.6av, 1.7max gray scale 0.5av, 1,3max why i get large errors in game mode
Can I use a Cheap meter like an X1 Display?
Yes
Michelle - Calman Home for LG supports the X-Rite i1Display and X-Rite i1Display Pro.
Brightness and contrast should have been adjusted after calibration. I've done the same lg and they need to be adjusted for good shadows/dark scenes.
If you adjust your brightness after calibration would that not mess up your calibration ?
Yes, it will effect the calibration a little bit, but all this "autocal" algo's, I imagine are still being fine tuned. In the mean time, slight adjustments to brightness and contrast are necessary for shadow details using proper patterns for them. The end result is incredible. Calman is a phenomenal software.
I always adjust brightness and contrast first. 90% of the time the default setting is pretty spot on. At least for Sony TV
@@joenuno1 surely the point of calibrating is to have an accurate image, by raising brightness you are messing up the time you spend calibrating your tv?
toto roro It’s called the best of both worlds. Calibrating is much better and easier now but it’s not perfect yet. Finding middleground to achieving what each person wants the most out of their TV
Why doesn’t calman support vizio tv’s? I have a p series vizio and can’t calibrate because this so great software of calman doesn’t support other brands. I feel calman is a bit bias!
rcdude86 what do you mean? Does your Vizio have 2 point /10 point white balance adjustment? Does it have CMS adjustment setting? If you do you can calibrate it. Calman TV auto adjustment is just to get your tv to a ball park. You’ll have to manually adjust for fine tuning. Also you need to purchase hardware/software. A decent one which is C6 meter going to cost you $800. These auto cal apps are aimed for high end TVs
@@Kanti12311 So which software package would I buy from calman then? Also yes the vizio I have as 2 point and 10 point white balance adjustment plus CMS controls and Gamma controls. But if calman doesn't have a mode for vizio for off sets with any color meter or spectro meter it would be off?
rcdude86 you have to contact them, calman home probably good enough. I have calman enthusiasts. Then again I have a $1400 pattern generator from them
@@Kanti12311 Very good. What do you use for colorimeter or do you have a spectroimeter to go with that pattern generator? I hope you spent as much on a meter as well. lol. I would do the same. Looking at the c250 line of meters. Ya about $6000 but sure would be accurate.
rcdude86 for my tv, there’s no need to calibrate HDR, I have Sony 940E. All I have to do is calibrate SDR and everything just falls in line. Now for the pattern generator, I bought it for future use. The software can be upgraded. My equipment are, Calman Videoforge pro pattern generator, Calman C6 non HDR, and i1pro spectrometer. This is my hobby, so I don’t mind spending that kind of money know long I’ll be using it for the new TV.
What if you need 2 separate game calibrations? one for sdr tv level and one for sdr pc level RGB?
Are the calibrated presets the same on each input, or can you make separate calibrations on same preset under each input?
Where is the Sony step by step?
Nice to have a vid that explains the basic crap. Like you'd be dumbfounded to see these other vids that don't explain what a pattern generator is or that a seperate laptop is needed. Like are they making an instructional vid or just waisting peoples as well as their time?
Cant i calibrate SDR with higher OLED light output? 27 is way too dark...
You can of course. When you have calibrated the TV you can change OLED light however you like - it doesn't really affect the calibration itself.
Was all excited, got my Xrite Display Pro Plus and ready to buy the software only to find out it doesn't natively support Mac, this software is dead to me. So disappointed.
Michelle - You are correct that Calman is not supported natively on a Mac. You can alternatively run Calman using VMWare Fusion or Bootcamp on your Mac.
@@PortraitDisplays If I wanted a windows computer I'd have one. Virtualization tools are AWFUL and I'm not buying a PC just to run this stupid application. Can't believe in this Day and Age there are still dinosaur companies like yours that don't support both platforms. This is the first App I've come across in literally 6 years where there wasn't both a MAC and Windows client available.
@@PortraitDisplays You should really just release a Mac version. Many of the people who actually care about accurate colors are creatives who almost exclusively use Macs. I feel like you're really limiting your market by making it Windows only.
The current two main professional applications for display calibration -CalMan and ColourSpace, former LightSpace from Light Illusion, - run only on Windows. So, you might be out of luck on this.
DisplayCal runs on Mac, and it’s free. However, it doesn’t support direct LUT calibration installation into the LG TV models. Also, I don’t know about its accuracy with these particular TV brand models.
Furthermore, I don’t know yet any professional calibrator using this application.
There's a hack way to install the LUT with a third party application after DisplayCal calibration, but I decided to avoid the hassle.
Hope this helps.
