Had a sparr with a 100kg very experienced coach (am 85). Stocky as he was he used pressure and very explosive hands to cause me trouble. Never thought of that pushing them on the back foot tip so they can't settle into their punches. Had to rely on teeps kicks n clinch to deal w him, but if i pushed on his hands a bit i could have a 1-2 where i could pressure more myself. Good stuff.

Can’t wait to practice these with a partner once the restrictions end. Until then I’ll try to practice the movements in shadow boxing or against a bag.

I really like that way of parrying to the side rather than downward into the low-kick. Really cuts off the opponents momentum when timed correctly.

I like the concept of hand control and keeping the opponents weight on their back foot. It's a great preventative move for dangerous punchers.

Speaking from boxing where the stance is a littlle more bladed,
this is usefull against taller fighters, if you hit in the lead forearm they will tend to put the weight on the back leg, so they cannot use their jab (as you are hitting it) and their rear hand becomes slower as they are leaning backwards. giving the smaller fighter a chance to enter close range.
Also, hitting the gloves-forarms extends your range a lot, allowing the smaller fighter to make pressure from a safe distance and mess with the opponent's head :)

I've seen you use that low chop to the lead leg to offset balance quite a bit, but I can't seem to nail the technique myself. Can you give me some pointers on effective execution?

That elbow on the first, could you come back up and hit with an upward elbow on the return to guard?

Is it a good idea to control the distance off their lead shoulder aswell as the hands/arms in long guard saw a old thai guy do it like that
