As a Brewers fan, I'm surprisingly pleased with how this season had has turned out so far. You're right, the team is more aggressive, they've got a blue collar, workman's mentality. And investing in their prospects has paid out - Gasser has been quietly dominating. It reminds me why I keep coming back to the team.

Jake has some excellent points on the Cubs. They have the resources in which they could have created some separation and stomached some financial mistakes given their revenue. Cubs were 10-18 in May 2023. 10-17 going into today in May... They currently hitting .217 as a team with a 73 WRC+. The lineup needs a bat. Lots of Cub fans sniffing around the "change of direction" Jays.

I hope they move to the pitcher challenge system in the minors. Where an umpire still calls balls and strikes, but if the pitcher thinks the call is wrong he can challenge and a robot will call it instead, with a replay of what the robot is seeing on the jumbotron. Looks like a good system to me

Honestly I kinda felt bad for the guy. Sure he blew some calls, but compared to other umpires, he definitely was disproportionately targeted. If you ask a random baseball fan who the worst umpire in baseball is, they'll probably say Angel, even if they don't have anything to back it up other than what they've heard or a cherry picked set of examples of him messing up.

As for blaming him for suing the MLB, the dude felt discriminated against enough to sue, even if he wasn't discriminated against, shouldn't he have the right to sue over it? Unless you're asserting he made the whole thing up for money, but it seems like that is a pretty ineffective method given he lost the case.
