Love it when people take that extra step to break something down. Especially when there little to no benefit for themselves, thanks for the break down!
Well, nothing truly compares to a Motorola APX XE500, but when you compare the Rocky Talkie speaker mic to a standard MOTOTRBO or the basic Motorola mic, it’s darn close. I’d say it’s as good.
Well, I’m sure that is possible, but is it worth the effort? I would encourage anybody to try, I think it could be a fun experiment. I sadly don’t have the time, nor do I have the speaker mic anymore, check it one of my shirts where it frustrated me so much that I threw it away.
Now that I think about it a little more, it would be possible to turn the speaker diaphragm protector into a tent like the Rocky talkie, but I recall throwing it away because I had given it to my father in law on a snowboarding trip and I really struggled hearing him. So it was more than just a bad sounding speaker, the mic was also really distorting the audio. I think there were too many problems for me to want to fix it when there are better options readily available. If I were isolated and had to make it work, I’d make it work.
