- Breaking Bad was such a hit with audiences that it’s hard to believe any network turned it down, but it was actually quite challenging for creator Vince Gilligan to get a network to pick up the show. AMC wasn’t known for its original programming at the time, but Mad Men and Breaking Bad changed that, and the surprising number of rejections is just one thing that you probably don’t know about the show unless you’re a die-hard fan.

I am ashamed to admit that before our Christmas break from work in 2019 I asked my men at work what series I should binge watch. Breaking Bad was suggested and I mentioned that I never considered watching it. Well, I did. Over the two weeks that I was off, I watched Breaking Bad in it's entirety. Immediately following was El Camino and now I am into season 3 of Better Call Saul. WOW. Amazing writing.

My best buddy considers himself a tv buff and I recommended Breaking Bad to him. I loaned him my Season One dvd. He returned it and said it was boring. Few years later and its considered the best tv show ever. I chastised him on missing out on a great series and of course he changed his tune " Oh no..I watched it..Iiked it..I was watching it l" lol
Poor guy only gets to watch what his wife likes though. He cannot watch horror movies either. Sucks to be him.

4:45 Dean Norris is absolutely right, Breaking Bad had plenty of humour to it. It's dark as and filled with drama but there's plenty of black humour to be found.
Badger and Skinny Pete are pretty much pure comic relief characters past Season 2.

The little Kevin brought the whole thing together. Gretchen and Elliot played a big part in Walt's resentment, if the show hadn't explored that, it wouldn't really come together as well as it did. Breaking Bad is such a miraculous show, so many things seemingly just fell into place. We'll never see anything like it again.
Especially since at the end of the day Walt technically used the fabled laser tag for his money laundering

I could see there being some real shady business going on behind the scenes with Gray Matter, could have tied it with the legal drug trade like opioids. Gray Matter could have been turned into Eliot's money laundering business. Big Pharma vs Underground drug trade ---- Walt VS Elliott .....would have been cool. They should have made Elliot the arch nemesis and the final boss battle! Hey I can dream :-)

Breaking Bad is the best show I've ever seen except maybe The Wire. I will never stop talking about Breaking Bad or The Wire.
There was one that came close but Dumb and Dumber decided to butcher the 8th a final season. I hope there will be but don't think it's coming anytime soon.
Depending on how The Mandalorian unfolds, it has the potential to be the best series in a long time. I highly recommend it, even if you're not a Star Wars fan.

@@fleetadmiral5938 i used to watch walking dead Season 1 was good Season 2 was shit because they killed Shane Season 3 was best , Season 4 was shit because Rick being a farmer and prison getting over run and at season 5 i lost hope from the series because Beth died for no reason and Noah too and the Story of hospital was boring AF and then they kill Glenn and Abraham, Eugene is not a scientist, so i left the series and i also watched Rick death scene and it was the shittyest death of any character i have ever seen in a movie or TV series , Stranger Things is good but it's for kids i mean in every single season they build up a villan and then villan always shows himself in the last episode , As for game of thrones i never watched it but i hear season 8 was shit and i haven't watched the baby Yoda Series yet

GOT FREAKED IT 😫😫😫 i was big into GOT but the last season soiled it, meanwhile BB ended near perfectly, and even the movie closed everything off well enough for me.

The ending of Crawl Space is suspense at its finest between Walt, and all of the ambiance with his laughter, the phone ringing and then answering machine, and the music. It's the best scene in the series, aside from the confrontation at Walt's house in Ozymandias and Walt in that truck pushing Skylar's car out of the way when he takes Holly.

I have binge watched BB several times after it first aired. It was so painful having to wait almost a year and a half for the second half of season 5.
Never felt a sense of loss over a tv show before, but after the final episode of Breaking Bad i felt I’d lost them all 😢

In episode 15 of season 5, Walt spoke to the guy who helped him get to new Hampshire and they literally were talking about how his house was still up for auction and they had to put a fence up because people were making it a tourist attraction.. Could this have been a small Easter Egg to the real life situation of the actual home owners putting a fence up?

I first watched better call Saul and seeing what happens in breaking bad makes it a whole lot better than knowing who dies because you get attached to the characters.

As a fan of the Die Hard movies I can confirm that I knew all of these.
From Albuquerque, lived there all my life, there is no fence around the house, it was literally a block away from my dad's house and while they definitely complained, they did NOT build a fence obstructing the view of the house, the stupid tourist RV still passes it every day I promise.

Breaking bad is definitely a dark comedy up until the point that Gus Fring enters the picture. Almost every interaction between Walt and Jesse is hilarious. An overwhelming number of the players on the show are experienced comedic actors and/or comedians.

I’ve been to the Walter White House! Thankfully my father was with me at the time & he talked to the lady who was actually very nice, just understandably tired of scraping pizza off her roof. She let us get a good look at the place. A memory I’ll never forget!

My only real complaint about the show was how they had the majority of it seemingly happen over the course of a year. All the actors got noticeably older and saying that Walt went from mild mannered kind family man to fully evil Heisenberg in only 12 months is harder to believe. I wish they had kept it real time saying it happened over a five year period.
It started off around walts 50th bday and ended at his 52nd. So it was more like two years but I get what your saying. Was pretty quick considering up until then he probably never broke any laws. But I guess the power and money corrupts.

Aside from shows that use flash forwards, most shows tend to stick with real time and characters acknowledge the same amount of years passing. So I always thought it was weird that Breaking Bad didn't use real time progression.

The fact that the man made the title to a finale work on THREE SEPARATE LEVELS when some people wouldn't even consider giving it any other name than "finale" is absolutely brilliant
