@@MrTyAlston hey Ty how goes it? If you go with a WD 4Terabyte it will be faster for large file transfers it has a larger cache than the 2T. Yeah, all I need is great information to spend some more money, dang! The algorithms have me figured out too, I have been shopping and looking hard at the Mac mini, but it doesn’t come out of the box with everything I need so this is very timely. Seriously, thanks- great vid!
Ive got one with a Samsung 990 Pro. Make sure that you use thick enough thermal pads such that the lid is in contact with the pad as well as the SSD. I got temps of 76-80 C when transferring a 500Gb file. After adding another 1mm pad making 2mm in all doing the same transfer the ssd only got to 55 degrees. The supplied thermal pads were crap and clearly old as I couldn't get both pieces of protective plastic off the pad. I bought a Thermalright Extreme Odyssey thermal pad instead.
Excellent! The speeds of external drives now exceed what I need, so I can stop spending on upgrades. I'm satisfied with the TBU405 Pro & 4TB Crucial P3 Plus 😅
Nice review. I have the same Mini M4 pro but I'm using the Trebleet TB5 enclosure with a Samsung 990 pro. My enclosure also has a fan (super quiet) and keeps temps. down.

Please forgive my ignorance, for this little informed layman, this Acasis Thunderbolt TB501 essentially replaces my hub that I attach peripherals into. Correct? Instead of putting cables for external scanner, speakers, back up drives (for Time Machine and additional external drive for documents + images) into my 2013 iMac OS Catalina, this would do the trick!? I want to upgrade to the M4 Pro, but I think I'll need the 4TB. My current system uses 3.12 TB and has 1.95 TB free. What are your thoughts on the M4 Max?
@@maxgottfried the TB501 is only a Thunderbolt 5 single NVMe enclosure. It is not a hub, the hub is a separate unit. If your system is 3.12 TB you def need at latest a 4T drive.
@@MacSoundSolutions Opps, my error. So I think I was referring to the Thunderbolt 4 docking station as a replacement for my old USB hub. What are your thoughts of a SatchiHub or similar instead of the docking station? Thanks again.
@ yes it adds a lot of,ports that the mini doesn’t have, the smaller one ads just a couple of ports depends on your needs. There are a ton of different docs out there and while the Acasis is pricey, it has been very reliable and I like the fact that has a power switch on it because a lot of these docs come with big power blocks and no power switch. But if you just want it for extra ports and not looking for the fastest speeds, you can just get a USB-C 10 GB dock
Hello, I have a small problem, please help me solve it 😓, I followed the instructions from your recent video 3 ways to transfer mac os to external ssd, I transferred it using the terminal, the problem is that when copying files to the external ssd which It is used as the main one, it is duplicated in the internal ssd mac 256gb why does this happen? That should not happen, are you signed into your Apple account internal and external. You can just delete the internal duplicate user account, but be sure to pack up all your data just in case because you don’t need to have the same user in two locations. You just wanna keep the external user.
