It's not. Just easier to throw 98 with some tack. This is why they banned substances other than rosin. This is a stupid discussion. Lifetime ban for cheaters. Cheaters will get better and/or go away.
Props for the Ray Scott homage Bob. Ray Scott and Pat Summerall is my favorite NFL broadcast team of all time. NBA-wise I grew up listening to Chick Hearn and Lynn Shackleford calling Laker games ... Wilt the Stilt ... Elgin Baylor ... Jerry West ... Happy Hairston ... Pat Riley ... man, the memories.
You are simply ignorant. Rosin isn’t enough. This has been well known for decades. You’re defaulting to the rosin bag because it’s always been there, but it’s *not* enough especially in cold climates when moisture is difficult to find.
I heard the idea of limiting the shifting. I like that idea. I also think there should be some legal substance for all pitchers, just have equal footing. Bob Costas is a wise baseball analyst. Maybe the best. And Eisen is great.
I am 48 and I still miss the NBC Saturday "Game of the Week". NBC did it better than anyone. FOX does a good job, but it pales in comparison to the NBC games of the 1970's and 1980's. Costas was wrong, though. ABC had "Monday Night Baseball" so technically there were TWO national baseball games broadcast during the week.
Exactly! If you can’t control where the ball goes you’re throwing too hard and need to,pull it back some. Instead of 95 you throw 90 and pitch rather than just throw. There is no skill in MLB anymore.
Wouldn't the same apply to hitters using things to grip the bat? Take away grip enhancers from them and they aren't all swinging for the fences every swing.
@@3ebguy Right. I don't mind occasionally seeing Nolan Ryan or Bob Gibson whiff 16. But when I watch 6 different nobodies wander out of the bullpen and collectively fan 16, the dominance of the big strikeout game loses a lot of its appeal, not to mention that the ball is not being put into play.
TV ratings confirm that the current brand of baseball is largely unwatchable. Strike outs. Walks. And an occasional home and a whole parade of one inning mediocrities.
I'm showing my age here (or lack thereof), but I didn't really know who Marv Albert was until the 2013 Sweet Sixteen between Michigan and Kansas. "Burke fires for 3 and the game is tied!"
Pitchers are so sensitive lmao at scherzer and romo making a huge deal out of nothing. I’m sure it’s irritating but be like ohtani and be polite about the checks.
@@SBomb121 Right? There’s just simply an over emphasis of a hitter bias here. Yes, there needs to be limitations but the line needs to be drawn at a different place than just rosin.
It’s funny you see them messing with Scherzer, one of the most dominant pitchers over the last decade, and they wanna act like him throwing junk and getting K’s is out of the ordinary.
Baseball keeps losing any relevance... and can't seem to figure out it's a combo of too much/slow, the fact everyone else realizes "unwritten rules" are stupid AF, oh, and a non stop history of cheating. Which is a shame, as it's fun to play, a great way to spend a summer evening, etc.... but it's an afterthought, culturally, now.
Baseball has been a dirty game since the beginning of time - let them play the game. The purest version of the game goes back to its origin. Just let them play!!!
I love Bob, but I hate his hitter bias sometimes. I hate how he brushes off the steroid era as “but you could make an argument it was more entertaining.” It shows where his head is at and why he favors PED users in the HOF. I love you Bob, but I vehemently disagree.
I see why he’s won so many emmys man his storytelling is amazing
Idk why i thought u wrote wearing women’s panties lol
Agreed
This show is hands down the best in the business
I grew up in the 80s and I LOVED the NBC baseball game of the week. Such a great time to be a young baseball fan. Wonderful memories.
Vin Scully and Joe Garagiola - oh yeah!
Marv Albert is the best caller in NBA history. So bad he is gone. I still remember the Bulls-Jordan games in the 90....
Why is the MLB baseball so much harder to grip than a regular baseball? Why does MLB keep changing the baseball? No other sport changes the ball
Great questions which will never be acknowledged, let alone answered.

@@deadpanfish That’s not what I’ve heard and read. Tack is all about increasing spin rate
It’s a domino effect
Dead ball era
Lower the mound
Do steroids
Change baseballs
Use new grip substance
Baseball will always have drama. Always has, always will. It’s part of the great story of the game.
Cheating in baseball? Water is wet.

Use the rosen bag and stop cheating.
yep!
Lifetime ban

Manfred's smart enough? Where's the evidence of THAT?
Tom glavine is right the pictures have nobody but themselves to blame
Lets bring back the phrase "lifetime ban". Joe Jackson is rolling in his grave.

Pitchers only need more grip to allow them to throw harder. Take away the extra grip and they have to throw within the natural limits of their body.
Definitely saw a lot of homers over the weekend

@@Scoob1206 correct
"Manfred's smart enough." No greater lie has been spoken this MLB season.
you ain't wrong...
Smart enough doesn’t mean smart necessarily. Sloths are as smart as they need to be, doesn’t make them brilliant
I don’t agree with Bob. I love seeing batters get struck out. Seeing the movement of the baseball be so much sharper, I’m a fan.
Wait until your team loses to Ricky Noname pitcher who is cheating.

But you’re making it all about you. Just watch the ratings continue to slide until baseball no longer exists in 15 years
I'll say this here too, Costas, MLB commissioner, Eisen, NFL, Patrick, Basketball.
TV ratings confirm that the current brand of baseball is largely unwatchable. Strike outs. Walks. And an occasional home and a whole parade of one inning mediocrities.
I just told my dad about this interview and found out he was in the bleachers for that Cards/Cubs game.
Marv was the Greatest & it’s true, we played hoops & mimicked Marvelous’s 🗣He Hits💨calls and Breeny’s 🗣Bang💨
BOB can call any sport

Just use the data and look for increased spin rate no point in randomly checking players.
Yeah that’s great just let a computer dictate which player gets harassed for throwing an exceptional ball
Its really easy to spot a pitcher touching a sticky spot using your eyes. See jomboy. Derp derp derpy derp
I was in middle school during the Steroid Era and it was the only time that anyone ever talked about baseball around the lunch tables.
The strike out rate is up cause of the shift
Bob Costas looks like the singer of Devo and Rick Moranis had a kid…or their brother.

Pitchers should’ve learned how to pitch without junking the balls instead of learning how to cheat the rules.

Maybe hitters need to quit worrying about hitting homers and just start hitting the ball again.
Thank you!
Love i
Love it
The players are the ones dropping their pants making a big deal out of it, the Umps arent the ones making them nor wanting them to do so.

Glickman above all of them :)
Big fan until he started talking down to his audience about the 2nd Amendment. Sports guys need to do what they are good at, sports!
Whatever Cy Young used is the only exception. Thats it.
Lol
I could listen to Bob Costas read the dictionary
His love of sports, a keenly analytical mind, rare intelligence, and incomparable gift for expression make him the best there has ever been.
I love Bob, but I hate his hitter bias sometimes. I hate how he brushes off the steroid era as “but you could make an argument it was more entertaining.” It shows where his head is at and why he favors PED users in the HOF. I love you Bob, but I vehemently disagree.
The fix is to remake the baseball itself, its materials, stitching, etc
😂
I love Bob Costas but how does anybody manage to get 28 Emmys?! Is that a record?
Set a max number of pitchers per game. Problem solved. 3 or 4.
Worst idea in here
Costas is a legend...
...Eisen, notsomuch.
