It depends on the author and the type of story they are writing. If they are doing a period piece they may need to do research on the type of clothes they wore, the type of houses they lived in (if the writer wants to describe the inside of a character's house), or even the type of language they may have used in a particular period. Whether it comes to non-fiction or fiction, research makes a writers creation authentic, so it all depends on how authentic a writer wants their work to be.
Hello A Mishel. If you are looking for studious fiction, perhaps well beyond the normal, JK Huysmans' Against Nature (1884) exceeds the research required of nearly all other novels.
This video had just about nothing regarding publishing. I'm not surprised, how can one expect a title not to be clickbait and hours of information in a five minute video.

I used to be a author once.. editing is the hardest part..of all . No matter, how much you edit you will always gonna find a mistake.
