I always thought of him as someone who did the impossible and made it out. I like how Notable Former NBA players (Shaq) always give Bryant credit. He was good and gave players as good as him problems. It makes me sad that retirement came early for him, but he played his heart out every game. Long Live Big Country!

    A few weeks ago, for some reason, Bryant Reeves popped into my mind. Not sure why. Then I wondered what he’s up to so decided to google him. This is where I came across this documentary and got the answer I was looking for. Incredible documentary placing a positive light on this amazing big man! It was great to see that he was a humble and friendly person, as most of the people I’ve met when visiting OKLA were. It was incredible that not only were you able to meet and spend time with Big Country, but also honor him and the Grizzlies at the museum. The Vancouver Grizz meant a lot to me as a BC kid because, unlike my other sports favourites (Canucks, Blue Jays/Expos, Lions, Cincy Bengals), I was able to get in on the ground floor of their existence. This is a terrific doc (Grizzlies fan or not) that makes me nostalgic, and it's so nice to see Country in such a great place post-basketball. Looking forward to 'The Grizzlie Truth' in a couple of weeks at VIFF.

    • @Veggamattic
      @Veggamattic 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mikemontana1990A few reasons would be that other cities (especially Seattle) deserve it way more and it sucks for Vancouver that they happen to be located so close. They just didn't have a strong enough fan base the first time to support a team. Both Vancouver and Toronto are big enough to support a team but because hockey is so much more popular in Canada only a large city like Toronto can support a team. Too many basketball fans that live in Vancouver are now Raptors fans so this takes more asses out of seats.

    Thank you for telling this story. When I was a kid, I never thought much of Big Country, but getting to know him now, I not only respect what he accomplished, but more the man he is today. It's nice to see that not all ex-NBAers have blown all their money and are right back where they started, but instead still working hard at something. Mad respect.

    Being socialized in the mid 90ies to the NBA, Big Country is no stranger. Even here in Germany. But boy, the Grizzlies were bad. And not even just on the court but the marketing around them (which is important to reach us fans in Oversee). I Collection their cards neverthelessy Great to get some insight to the Vancouver situation and of course great to see, that Bryant Reeves is doing fine (and still plays).
    These are the worse side effects to the NBA Business: Relocation and leaving fans, history and players behind. Great, that this film brings something back.

    This reminded me how much detail is required to make any kind of video. Like when the video showed Kat pulling up to Bryant's gate, I was like how is she filming that when she's inside the car? Then I was like oh, must be a separate camera person choreographed to film that exact moment. That's really heartwarming how you gave those items to the museum. I'm sure that was the intent all along. Really cool for people to remember a big part of the city's history.
