Thank You! This is the first I've seen of showing the scent glands and why the bad smell and taste which I've always associated with non commercial meat, not bland. After seeing this video I've checked many others too but yours is the only one I've been able to see this gland, from now on I will learn how to remove this gland, I usually don't parcel out but instead keep the rabbit whole for cooking.

Hey Scott, you're a mind reader. I just butchered 5 rabbits today and you show up with the answer to my question about deboning a rabbit. Thanks for all you help. Thanks to you, my wife and I have gone from just plain old farm recipes to a very enjoyable variety of things to do with the meat that we hunt and raise. Thanks Buddy, your're the best.

Nice work, Scott. It's been years since I've boned a rabbit, but your video is an inspiration. The last time for me was when we entertained a group that included four older family members, three with ill-fitting dentures. They were very appreciative to have boneless meat.

Love this! My pops was a military survival instructor so eating worms and grubs was a game we played as I was growing up…he’d point at something and say ‘That’s edible you know…’, which was a thinly veiled dare to eat it.

I just put one in the freeser. when I get it out I will debone it since I was unable to before I stuck it in the freezer. I agree with you about the scent glands. I forgot to take them off of one a while back and it was definitely different than one without it. looking forward to more videos scott. keep up the good work!

Great job. Greeting from Southeast Missouri. I'm 58 and back in the 1970's wild rabbit was plentiful on the farm fence rows here. We hunted them with .22 and 410 shotguns. Population is now decimated by the red tail hawk. There seems to be a hawk sitting on a telephone pole every 4 miles staring at the ground. They are now reduced to eating field mice. It is common to see a dead hawk on the side of the road. Hit by a car while it was trying to lift off with its prey.

I just bought a rabbit yesterday for $30. In Canada, when I was a teenager, it was was easy to set collar traps in the winter. You could see where the rabbit goes by his path in the snow. You place the trap near a tree you can see he likes to go by. Check all the traps at least once a day. It's less critical in the winter, because the worst that happens is you find a frozen rabbit, not a rotting one.

Wicked video. Way, way better than the others I looked at. Only wish I'd watched yours before attempting to bone out 3 wild rabbits myself (for the first time!); Oh, man ... took me so much longer than it should of and was gutted that I'd pierced the skin on the backbone; that is until after I watched yours I realised I'd been attempting the almost impossible!
Really liked the level of detail and attention you gave to dealing with the front and back legs and also pointing out the musk glands. Must have just got lucky and left them attached to the spine on mine as I had no idea to look out for them.
What's your thoughts on the differences in cooking times and temperatures between wild and farmed rabbits (if roasting, rather than a slow & low cooked one)? The Italian recipe I followed was clearly for farmed rabbit I'm guessing, as mine were tougher than I would have liked. If you haven't tried it, I would recommend checking it out - It was on Rick Stein's Long Weekend thingy about Bologna; Rabbit stuffed with frittata and ham ... bloody delicious (even when cooked a little tough!) mmmmm!
