I get this is anime hence therefore isn't going to be historically correct. The desert people are basically mongols in this story but their lifestyle + beliefs aren't really reflective of that of Mongolians true ?!!🤷‍♂️
*Example; in the pei fight, the hi yi clan speak of pei as reincarnation of King Kong 🤔🤨😶

The anime mentions that these five families in the desert fled from “Rouran”, a nomadic kingdom in the steppe. Not sure about the connections between Rouran and Mongols, but I suppose not all nomadic people from that region are Mongols. For example the anime also mentioned that the Steppe was ruled by Western Turks at that time.
