I bought a 70 blue/white Baldwin Motion Camaro out of a buddies insurance yard for $600 in 79. It was a recovered theft. Put back on the road with a 350 and used it as my daily driver for a couple of years.
Yes my thing is Mopars.... But I love this era of cars when you had Baldwin and Yenko and lots of others doing mods to cars just not the same today... Great story!
At the 7:18 mark, the picture of the magazine mentions at California Highway Patrol Dodge. I’m thinking it may have been the 1969 Polara with the 440. At the time it was the fastest car the CHP ever had up until the ‘94-‘96 LT-1 Caprices arrived on scene. But flash forward to current times & once again it’s a Mopar, being the Dodge Chargers.
Mopar had Mr Norm's Grand Spaulding for those great tuner type projects. All that stuff was incredible. As yal said this era was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥! LONG LIVE DAY2.....cuz its definitely the best day of the week😎
JOEL didnt put the 1st 396 BIG BLOCK in a camaro. BILL THOMAS did in early 67 which they did a magazine article on. It also had the first ELDERBROCK intake manifold and first hurst 4speed shifter for that model of camaro. 👍
I remember a BM Camaro 454 in a magazine and came with 4.88 gears and had a Hone overdrive unit that dropped the ratio down to 3.42. What a package and look
@@napoliansolo7865 it’s because the car had to be completely stopped in order to engage the unit . So you had to choose between standard and overdrive gears . If you were taking a long drive on the highway, before starting out, you would engage overdrive .

We read that some of them came through with 390's, when they ran short of 427's. They weren't forthcoming in telling new owners about this change. This might have been the case, but who knows.
The Cobra was a 289 inch motor. Joek used to test it on Sunrise Highway in front of Motion! I remember it had 4 Weber carbs but never a blower of any kind. Back in 1966 a 10.60 out of any street car was a world beater!

As a kid reading Car Craft and Hot Rod magazines, I used to drool over the Motion performance Big Block V8 Vega swap kits.
LOVE THIS BM ,, THERE WAS NICKY , COPO YENKO,, IN 71 I WAS 17 I REMERBER THEM LIKE IT WAS YESTERDAY ,, GROUND SHAKING CARS
I grew up on south shore during summers when Mr Motion was the king of Sunrise Highway street races. Great story. Incredible le history.

Just want to clarify, the 427 425hp engines that were installed were Not All aluminum.
Would like to see part 2
Yes you’re right.
