Yes the effects should be the same as you can use instant switching, but the instances must have the same structure with the internal layers names being the same.

Thanks for sharing! Is there a way to make the component so that we can switch between different icons but still get the same effect?

if you swap the icon, will everything work still? I mean will colors behave correctly?
Yes as long as you keep the naming and layering the same, in all your icons then it will work.
FYI the plugin does not look like its working at the moment
