After watching this a week or two ago, i finally put a liter of this stuff together and washed a bathroom sink that hasn't been cleaned in over six months. The sink faucet shines and the basin is nice and white again. This stuff works GREAT! If any readers are still thinking about it, let my message convince you, this stuff is legit!
Interesting stuff. Thanks. Rubbing alcohol and vinegar come in different strengths measured in percentages. For example our store often carries 70% rubbing alcohol but it is difficult to find 90%. I also recently learned most household vinegar is actually about 5% vinegar, but you can find 40% and 70% vinegar on Amazon. What percentages of rubbing alcohol and vinegar are you using?
Hiya , not long found your videos and I can’t stop watching them, i want to make my own cleaner, but when you say washing soda, do you mean soda crystals, or do I have to bake some bicarbonate soda to make the washing powder, sorry if it’s a stupid Q LOL
Yes soda crystals is the same as washing soda which is a stronger version of bicarbonate of soda. If you can’t get washing soda you can spread bicarbonate on a sheet and bake in the oven for an hour. It dehydrates the bicarbonate and makes it stronger, but use washing soda if you can coz it’s usually the same price and found just as easy
Hi, last week I tried to make the solution, and the cleaning power was impressive! The only issue I had was that after a while I started to notice white patches in some areas, a bit of water and patience and I managed to remove them, do you know what could be the cause? Thanks!
Is there measuring amounts for this entire recipe in cups and teaspoons, tablespoons or whatever for those of us that have not made the transition to weights yet?
3.5 table spoons of baking soda and for the cups, it should have both imperial system and the metric system. The rubbing alcohol needed is 15 grams and a tablespoon is roughly 14 grams, you can use a table spoon to measure the required quantity.
This one is best general cleaning and maintenance; the one with vinegar and alcohol is specifically for hard water stains and soap scum. Combining all three ingredients would neutralise the vinegar and washing soda as one is alkaline and one acidic so it would make the mix redundant.
Good morning (PST), Carl. I just stumbled on your sight. Terrific info; thank you. That blue sprayer is too cool for words. Where can I get one? Without flying to Ireland, I mean.
Does it matter how much dish soap I add? You say in the video that the dish soap helps bind everything together so in my head, “it’s not a problem if I add 10 ml!”

After baking my baking soda for 40mins and allowing to cool, when I add boiling water to it, it goes all lumpy and chunky. Is that expected?0yours seemed to dissolve quickly.
This is good but "filled to here" and add boiling water are unspecific measurements. Cannot follow this unless you list quantities so viewer can follow.
I list all the ingredients, measurements, and how to mix it in the video - I dont have it listed in the description as you need to mix it all in a certain way or it will go clumpy as per your other comment.
Ha ha, you get to live like a slob for three months AND get a great video out of that. I'll be doing that four times a year, reminding my wife it's all for an experiment and a YT video ;)
Hmmmm. I don’t think this is the resolution you think it’s going to be. Have a look around my channel and decide if you think I don’t know what I’m talking about.
That’s not a measuring cup. It’s a fat separator. It’s used to separate stock from fat. You ladle the fat off of the top of the liquid into that container. The fat rises to the top after a few minutes. Since the poor spout opens from the bottom of the container the clean stock can be poured back into the pot leaving the fat in the separator. I guess in your business you could use something like that as an oil water separator. Just much bigger. Great videos and chemistry.

Where can I get that spray bottle you have?
You're legit blowing my mind! This series is stayin with me for LIFE
Haha - love this! Lots more to come :)
This video deserves 5M more views. Absolute legend
You’ll make me blush 😝
Works great!! Need to repeat and soak a few corners with mildew in the grout or find a mildew treatment.
Already got you covered :)

In the US- “Rubbing Alcohol” is either 70% (commonly) or 90% Isopropanol (Isopropyl Alcohol). For 50mL isopropanol, use 55mL of 90% or 70 mL of 70%.
Thanks for that :)
@@CleaningHowTo I have 99% Iso , how many mls should I be using ?
Nice spray bottle, where did you get it?
its a kwazar :)
How long will this cleaning mixture last after you use it? 1 day, week, etc.???
Sorry I’ve just seen this! It shouldn’t expire, just give it a shake before next use :)
Can Borax be substituted for the washing soda?
It can but it's not as strong - washing soda has a higher PH.
@@CleaningHowTo thanks
I see it cleans the surface but does it disinfect and kill germs and viruses?
Yes.
Interesting stuff. Thanks.

What percentages of rubbing alcohol and vinegar are you using?
70% ipa and 5% acetic; realistically the strength of the acid and solvent shouldn’t make a massive difference once solvency and ph are attained.
@@CleaningHowTo I appreciate the quick response.
“And may the odds be ever in your favor!”
@ra1der5 you’re welcome :)
Interesting video, will test the product then give a review!! Thanks for the video.
did it work?
+1 for driving your boyfriend crazy and for his patience so you could help the rest of us!
* Ex boyfriend; probably because of my cleaning antics :P
Hi, what is rubbing alcohol that you added, what does it do? So we need Soda crystals, rubbing alcohol and dish soap? xx

I’m having the same, seams pointless if having to clean twice.
It’s residue from the washing soda - wipe it with a damp micro Fiber (use this method for best results - th-cam.com/video/hhYFNdD3QN8/w-d-xo.html)
Thank you for the fantastic breakdown!
My pleasure!

@@playernut3529 Thank You!
3:06, when you say you've "got cold water to here". What does that mean on your side of the pond?
500 mls of water :) but I’d actually go about 450 or so
So which one works best? This one or the one with vinegar and alcohol? Have you tried all three combined?
This one is best general cleaning and maintenance; the one with vinegar and alcohol is specifically for hard water stains and soap scum. Combining all three ingredients would neutralise the vinegar and washing soda as one is alkaline and one acidic so it would make the mix redundant.

Why doesn’t your website work with the recipes?
Does the rubbing alcohol act as a disinfectant even though it is mixed with water and other products?
Notionally it should to a degree, but it would need to be tested to be sure.

I tried to make the solution, but the bottle spray got clogged. 😢
I tried another bottle, and it did the same. The baking soda didn’t dissolve well.
sieve it :)
Can you please tell me your recipe for your soda ash. Thank you.
Here ya go: th-cam.com/video/ohvk0dsGQSs/w-d-xo.html
What's the shelf life for this stuff? I don't want any chemistry experiments going wrong under the sink while I sleep
-250ml Cold Water
-50 grams Washing Soda
-50ml Isopropyl
~150ml Boiling Water
-2 Drops Dishsoap (surfactant)
Correct?
So I advocate 10% of the mixture to be washing soda, 10% rubbing alcohol. If you’re making 500mls, you would use what you describe above :)
What is washing soda?
After baking my baking soda for 40mins and allowing to cool, when I add boiling water to it, it goes all lumpy and chunky. Is that expected?0yours seemed to dissolve quickly.
It can happen that SOME of the washing soda can clump - use a little more of the powder and remove the lumps with a sieve :)
Great job.

I like to use Borax. It has a pH of 9.5 vs. baking soda pH of 8.
I prefer the washing soda (PH 11 or so) as I find it stronger.
We can't use borax in the EU. It's been banned.
Yup!
If you make videos about cleaning why is your home so filthy?? I assume that tub is in your home????
I've addressed this a few times; theres no point using my mixes to clean clean stuff; so I let it get dirty to prove that it works.
