Bought a 331/3 reissue of a Paul Whiteman collection probably in the 70s and fell in love the second playng. When I was little my Dad used to sing this song, whistle it and play the Al Jolson recording of Back In Your Own Backyard. Now that I remember it thi was one of my raiy day songs along with Rain On The Roof and April Showers, Isn't A Lovely Day For A Walk In The Rain. At 80 yrsof age I really miss Dad ad those happy carefree days. Thanks for this recording and the memories.
Perhaps the greatest of all the famous dance band themes, “You’re Just A Dream Come True” is so wonderful in so many ways...the song’s melody is so strong, the arrangement leaves nothing to be desired musically, the vocal is spot-on, the tempo is a perfect medium fox-trot, the sentiment expressed is nothing short of Shakespeare on staff paper. If this song doesn’t speak to you, you need a hearing aid. Isham Jones was tops, period.
Frank Sylvano (1903-'64), originally a banjoist-guitarist, sang with many orchestras and radio stations in Chicago, serving as studio singer for Brunswick sessions in that city in the late '20s and early '30s. After an attempt to crack New York in 1931-'33, he retired from show business and founded a successful Italian restaurant on Chicago's South Side.
This video is A DREAM COME TRUE! Isham Jones Brunswick Records are the AWESOME OF AWESOMES! "You`re Just A Dream Dear" & "Lonesome Lover" is a strange Record, I have a E+++ complete with sleeve and a beautiful rainbow sheen in the grooves Copy, And You literally have to tilt the .003 Stylus to get a AWESOME sound out it! What size stylus did You use? Several Brunswick Records from 1930 (A couple in 1927!) have this issue! I believe the groove is somewhat wider!

I’m 75 and I grew up with this music, I used to play the records for my father when I was very young- when I was living in the Canal Zone in Panama
Awesome 👍
